Chapter 3 - Muzan escaped

The man's eyes were like radiant scarlet spider lilies, dazzling and captivating, and his every word and action exuded elegance, showing no trace of a demon on him whatsoever.

Yet, this seemingly normal man made Wan Mi feel an unprecedented pressure; his seemingly ordinary body contained infinite power, like ten thousand demons descending, wantonly devouring everything around him.

With just one glance, Wan Mi knew that the person before him was none other than Kibutsuji Muzan, the progenitor of all demons; he had only ever felt such terrifying pressure from his master, Ji Guo Yuan Yi.

The woman beside the man also looked towards Wan Mi; her gaze was not like the man's, who looked at Wan Mi as if he were a fly, but instead, a wave of sadness rose within her, as if she were looking at a person who was about to die, and her eyes were sad because of this.

However, at this moment, Wan Mi had completely ignored her; compared to the man beside her, the demonic aura she emitted was simply too insignificant.

Wan Mi took a deep breath, and the next moment, his body suddenly vanished from its original spot; almost simultaneously, his breathing propelled the nichirin blade in his hand, slashing towards the man's neck.

"Sun Breathing, Sixth Form: Burning Bone, Summer Sun!!!"

Facing the attack from above, the man didn't even lift his head; he merely casually swung his palm, and in the next second, his palm transformed into a long whip, moving so fast that it was almost impossible to catch with the naked eye, tearing through the air with destructive force!

Wan Mi's pupils suddenly contracted in mid-air, and he immediately changed his sword technique, slashing downwards; the impact of the flames allowed him to alter his posture in the air, and his body was sent flying backward.

Crack! Crack!

The surrounding trees collapsed, as if they had been neatly cut in half.

Despite such terrifying strength, there was no trace of fear in Wan Mi's eyes.

"Such immense power, truly befitting the King of Demons; if I kill you, all demons will disappear, right?"

The man remained expressionless, neither admitting nor denying it.

Wan Mi took a deep breath, his expression more solemn than ever; Muzan's previous attack was terrifying, and he felt that even a slight graze could result in instant death.

He knew that he had to go all out, even if it meant overdrawing all the potential of his body.

The moment this thought appeared, a scar resembling a burn suddenly appeared on his forehead; he didn't notice it, but the man in the distance did.

"A swordsman with a scar, I've encountered another one."

A faint smile hung on Muzan's lips, his face filled with disdain.

"Muzan!"

Wan Mi's focus was unprecedented; somehow, he felt his body become exceptionally light, and even his breathing became smoother than usual; countless whip strikes came from all directions again, but these attacks appeared incredibly slow in Wan Mi's eyes.

He saw it!

He saw that this terrifying man before him actually possessed five brains and seven hearts!

What a horrifying body; even after hunting countless demons, seeing such a body still sent shivers down Wan Mi's spine.

Wan Mi rapidly approached Muzan; every attack around him could easily take his life; at this moment, he was like a dancer on a knife's edge, dodging countless mortal dangers, finally arriving before Muzan.

"Muzan!!!"

The nichirin blade became scorching hot and crimson, and a turbid breath escaped Wan Mi's mouth; his eyes were filled with scarlet, and the flames in them seemed capable of burning everything in the world.

At this moment, he suddenly felt the surroundings become very quiet, and his entire heart also calmed down.

He couldn't help but wonder, if everyone born into this world has a purpose, then his purpose must be to kill this guy in front of him.

The twelve forms of Sun Breathing landed on Kibutsuji Muzan's body within one second, striking his head and the hearts and brains within his body.

All of this happened in an instant; the flames extinguished, and Muzan's body was covered in slashes, his arms and legs completely severed.

Muzan's expression was somewhat startled, as if even he hadn't reacted to what had happened.

He, himself, was actually struck by this swordsman?

He was actually wounded by a mere insect!

After the surprise came a surge of furious rage!

A suppressed volcano was about to erupt, determined to destroy everything in its path!

The slashes on Muzan's body began to heal, and his severed arms and legs began to regrow, but the next second, the extinguished flames reignited, as if to reflect an unquenchable wildfire.

The twelve sword techniques landed again, and Muzan's body was once again riddled with wounds.

Muzan's expression had twisted with anger; he concentrated his body to regenerate his arm instantly and grabbed Wan Mi by the neck.

Wan Mi spat out a large mouthful of blood; the moment the blood spurted out, Muzan's freshly regenerated arm was severed again.

The familiar pain returned, and Muzan was on the verge of collapsing; in his eyes, this human was as weak as a fly, yet it was this weak insect, through countless bites, that made him, the giant elephant, feel threatened.

What astonished Muzan even more was that this time, he found that his severed body parts did not regenerate immediately.

Enduring the severe pain, Wan Mi's gaze was fixed on the man before him; he didn't rush to attack immediately, because he also saw that the man's body had reached its limit.

At this moment, images of families harmed by demons appeared in his mind, and the boy carrying his younger brother from that night appeared before his eyes; he then thought of his own and Chitose's experiences before joining the Demon Slayer Corps, and finally, his master Yoriichi Tsugikuni's calm gaze.

"What do you take life for?!"

Muzan did not answer; his face contorted as he gnashed his teeth and glared at Wan Mi; in his anger, all the blood vessels in his body were bulging, and a cross-shaped vein throbbed on his forehead.

Swish!!

Two thorny tendrils pierced through Wan Mi's arms, and blood flowed down his clothes.

Muzan smiled sinisterly: "Brat, you wouldn't think you could kill me like this, would you!"

Wan Mi gritted his teeth, enduring the pain in his arms, and swung his sword again; the thorns rubbed against his flesh, and every movement caused excruciating pain.

But the next second, Kibutsuji Muzan, the progenitor of all demons, his entire body suddenly exploded, transforming into over eighteen hundred fragments of flesh, scattering in all directions!

Wan Mi was too weak to swing his sword; he could only watch helplessly as the fragments of flesh dispersed before his eyes.

But then, a rapid sound of footsteps suddenly came from afar.

"Master!"

Wan Mi shouted hoarsely: "Don't let him escape!"

Yoriichi remained silent, simply swinging his blade.

Although his movements were very swift, a small portion of the flesh fragments still managed to escape, burrowing underground and disappearing.

Seeing this scene, Wan Mi stood frozen in place.

His lips trembled slightly, and his eyes were filled with disbelief.

He failed to kill Kibutsuji Muzan; Muzan had escaped...
