Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: The Courier’s Package

Chapter 10: The Courier's Package

The D.C. market square pulsed with chaos, vendors shouting over sizzling grills, the air thick with spices, diesel, and overripe fruit. Toney blended in, hoodie low, sneakers silent on cobblestones. The InfoGrid System tracked the courier, a wiry man in a gray jacket, moving fast. Red's mission: intercept a flash drive before it reached an Iranian spy. Toney's alliance with Red was firm, but the electronics store glitch lingered, a crack in his control.

Ressler's POV: Ressler stood in an FBI van, voice sharp: "The courier's a decoy, Malik." Meera's binoculars tracked a suspect, her voice calm: "Red's intel says otherwise." Their comms glitched, screens frozen. "Red's screwing us, as usual," Ressler growled, fist clenched. He didn't know Toney's hack, or Sarah's betrayal guiding Orlov.

Toney closed in, the system's lie detection flagging the courier's twitch—hand brushing his pocket. The flash drive held Hess Syndicate assets, a global ledger. His pulse surged, weaving through stalls, spices stinging his eyes.

Sarah's POV: Sarah's phone buzzed, Orlov's reply: "Target's in market. Central stall." She sent Toney's location, hands trembling, deleting it as Cooper's voice boomed. "I'm out of time," she whispered, sending: "FBI on scene. Extreme caution." Her guilt crushed, her sister's debt a noose.

The system glitched, pain spiking Toney's temples, the HUD flashing red.

Orlov's POV: Orlov watched from a rooftop, scope on Toney. "What are you, ghost?" she murmured, accent sharp. Sarah's intel was gold, but Toney's glitch was a weakness. She signaled her team, FBI vans a problem, her curiosity defying orders.

Toney snatched the drive, the courier shouting, lost in the din. A Syndicate operative—scarred, cold—drew a silenced pistol. Toney sprinted, the HUD mapping routes, spices and diesel thick.

Market Chase: Bullets grazed a cart, apples bursting. Toney dove behind a stall, lungs locked, the drive secure. He scrambled up a fire escape, bullets pinging, the system guiding to rooftops. Operatives pursued, relentless, the city's pulse—horns, shouts—driving him.

Meera's POV: Meera's comms crackled: "Courier's gone." Ressler cursed, fist slamming. "This is Red's game, and we're losing." Meera's instincts sharpened: "Someone's in our systems." They didn't know Toney's hack or Sarah's betrayal.

Toney reached a crowded street, blending in, the operative's voice on a hacked channel: "You're on our list, ghost." His cover was blown. The system flashed, triumphant.

Reddington's POV: Red watched from a sedan, Toney's speed impressing. "He's earning his place, Dembe," he said, smile sharp. The glitch was a concern. "Time to meet our ghost," he murmured, sending coordinates. "Secure the meeting," he told Dembe, needing Toney controlled.

Toney reached a safe alley, the drive grounding him, Red's coordinates a risk. The city's pulse—horns, crowds—mirrored his own, the glitch a warning, the unseen player closer.
