Nolan chuckled, the sound soft and genuine. "And I'm glad you did."
Evelyn's expression softened. "I'm happy now, Master. I have a loving husband…" She hesitated, her voice catching, "and my son."
"Son?" Nolan's brows shot up.
"Yes. A little boy with his father's temper and his mother's stubbornness."
Nolan's expression quickly turned to joy.
"Wow, I'm so glad you have a boy..." He smiled, his eyes shining with excitement. "Poor Mr. Knight, the little one is going to drive him crazy."
Evelyn laughed again, shaking her head. "He already does. Sometimes I think Axel's more terrified of our child than of his business rivals."
"As expected..." Nolan chuckled warmly.
They continued talking about the mountain where Nolan's family lives.
Evelyn's heart warmed as she remembered her summers spent there.
Their laughter filled the air, lightening the tension that had suffocated Evelyn minutes ago.
