Chapter 10 - 010 – Asagiri Utsunomiya: "I will help you clear the dungeon. I'm kind after all."

Next, Asagiri Utsunomiya did something that was beyond Asuna Yuuki's expectations.

Asagiri Utsunomiya took two steps forward, bent down, picked up the blood-stained kitchen knife on the ground, and then threw it in front of the man, speaking softly in an emotionless tone: "Come on! Pick it up!"

The man covered his bleeding wrist, gritting his teeth to endure the pain. When he heard Asagiri Utsunomiya's words, he first glanced at the kitchen knife on the ground, then raised his head and looked at the tall black humanoid creature behind the other party. Fear flashed in his eyes, and he knelt on the ground with a thud, his forehead pressed against the hard floor, begging for mercy.

"No... No, I was impulsive just now... Please, please forgive me..."

"Beg for mercy? At this moment? Are you trying to make me laugh?"

Asagiri Utsunomiya first said so, then suddenly walked up to the man, stretched out his hand, and said, "But if you hand over your phone, I might consider sparing your life."

The man kneeling on the ground, trembling all over, took out his phone from his trouser pocket tremblingly after hearing this, and handed it to Asagiri Utsunomiya with his unharmed hand.

"This... this is my phone... there's no password..."

"Well, you're quite smart." Asagiri Utsunomiya first praised the man with a smile, then said softly, "I've thought about it seriously, but you still have to die. Anyone who kills should also be prepared to be killed. This is the simplest truth in the world; even a child understands it."

As Asagiri Utsunomiya finished speaking, Hitoshura had already stretched out an arm, and its huge hand completely grasped the man's neck and lifted him up.

The man's face turned red and purple. Out of the instinct for survival, he kept slapping Hitoshura's arm with both hands, uncaring of the pain from his bleeding wrist. But he couldn't make Hitoshura release its hand, and he couldn't even make its arm tremble.

After a few seconds, the man began to roll his eyes, and the strength of his hands gradually weakened, and finally fell down weakly.

*Thud!*

With a muffled sound, Asuna saw Hitoshura casually throwing the unconscious man to the ground, and she couldn't help but speak hesitatingly: "He..."

"Not dead yet, just fainted." Asagiri Utsunomiya replied in a matter-of-fact tone.

Asuna Yuuki first breathed a sigh of relief, as if relieved, then said, "That's right. There's no need to kill him. Just leave him here. After the time limit is up, he'll definitely die..."

"Eh? What are you talking about?" Asagiri Utsunomiya said up to here and looked puzzled as if he didn't quite understand. He walked over, bent down, and grabbed the unconscious man's ankle with one hand.

Then he looked at Asuna and said with a carefree tone, "Haven't you read web novels? This kind of plot where you give the enemy a breath, thinking they're doomed, only to have them escape death and then come back to cause trouble for the protagonist is incredibly toxic. While I'm not the protagonist of any web novel, I wouldn't leave such a hidden danger. Besides..."

Asagiri Utsunomiya paused and grabbed the unconscious man's ankle with one hand. Then, as he dragged the unconscious man's body towards the stairwell, he said, "There's clearly still room for him to be used. Wouldn't it be a waste to just let him die like this?"

"Waste?" Asuna Yuuki didn't quite understand what Asagiri Utsunomiya wanted to do, but she hurried to follow.

*Thump, thump, thump, thump!*

Because he was dragging someone down the stairwell, every time Asagiri Utsunomiya went down a step, the head of the man he was dragging would collide with the step, making a dull sound that was so painful that anyone who heard it would twitch in empathy.

When they walked into the courtyard, Asuna Yuuki couldn't help but asked in confusion, "Utsunomiya-san, what exactly do you want to do?"

Asagiri Utsunomiya's smile seemed friendly and kind, and even his tone was so gentle as he said, "What I want to do, huh? Of course I will help him clear through the dungeon. I'm a kind man after all."

"Huh? Are you serious? You're so..." Asuna Yuuki originally wanted to say—not to mention that this guy killed another Player in the same ward, the fact that he wanted to stab Asagiri Utsunomiya with a kitchen knife was absolutely unforgivable to latter, right?

And yet Asagiri Utsunomiya still wanted to help the man clear the dungeon? Was he repaying enmity with kindness? Did he have a hero complex?

But on second thought, Asuna Yuuki felt that Asagiri Utsunomiya couldn't be that kind of person. The other party had just said that this man had to die.

At this time, Asagiri Utsunomiya had already dragged the man out of the courtyard gate.

"Hmm... This should be considered a clearance."

As he said so, Asagiri Utsunomiya opened the man's phone. Sure enough, on the home screen, there was the same app with the eye icon as the ones on his and Asuna Yuuki's phones. The moment he touched the eye icon, a line of blood-red text suddenly appeared on the phone screen.

[Player identity verification failed.]

"Sure enough, there's a confidentiality mechanism. Even if someone gets the phone, they can't open the app, right? What if I lose the phone? Or..."

When he said this, Asagiri Utsunomiya once again summoned his Persona, Hitoshura.

The moment Hitoshura appeared, it covered the man's head with its huge hand, then clenched its five fingers.

*Plop!* With a sound like a watermelon bursting, blood flowed out from between the black gaps between Hitoshura's fingers.

Seeing this scene, Asuna Yuuki felt a little nauseous and looked away.

After killing the man, Asagiri Utsunomiya touched the eye icon in the other party's phone again. This time it opened successfully. The other party's Player panel and the clearance reports he received before he died were displayed without reservation.

When Asagiri Utsunomiya was checking the app, he did not avoid Asuna Yuuki. Standing next to him, she saw the information displayed in the screen and the clearance reports obtained by the Player named Noguchi Kazukawa.

She said thoughtfully, "The C rating didn't unlock a job or get a skill or an equipment, just a meager item. It seems like after wasting so much time completing the dungeon, this is the only reward he can get. Its sole purpose is to make Players realize that all of this truly involves supernatural phenomena, shattering their remaining illusions and naiveté, by allowing them to access and store items at any time."
