Chapter 61 - I Want to Become a Mutant

"Without powerful strength to protect yourself, Mutants are just fish on the chopping block. What I'm saying isn't about justice, it's just reality."

Bai Ye calmly looked at the Mutants present. "If I were hostile towards you, your lives wouldn't last three seconds, especially Professor X."

"In fact, I've always thought that as a leader of the Mutants, you shouldn't be so exposed. A single bullet could paralyze you," Bai Ye said frankly, looking at Professor X.

To Bai Ye at this moment, everyone present was a group of high-attack, fragile targets, the kind that could be taken down with a single punch.

As long as he killed Professor X, the others posed no threat to him.

Looking at the young man standing up and looking down at them, Professor X lowered his head, lost in thought.

Cyclops was a bit unconvinced, but as soon as he looked up, he felt a lightness on his head. The next moment, a thick, crimson laser burst from his eyes, piercing through the wall in front of him, scaring him into quickly closing his eyes.

The sudden turn of events startled everyone. Jean Grey instinctively reached for her telekinetic powers, but in the next instant, her vision turned red. Bai Ye had already placed her boyfriend's visor on her head.

Turning, she saw Bai Ye, the instigator, back in his original spot, calmly observing them.

"See, this is the difference between us," Bai Ye said, spreading his hands, looking at Cyclops, who had his eyes tightly shut, and Jean Grey, who was wearing the visor.

This extreme development had a huge flaw; if targeted, they were truly useless.

"You ambushed us," Cyclops said, tightly covering his eyes to prevent his optic blasts from harming anyone.

"If you can't even open your eyes, don't be so stubborn. Unless your eyeballs can rotate as fast as a bullet, you won't even be able to catch my footsteps," Bai Ye mocked.

Jean Grey quickly took off the visor and put it on her boyfriend. Only then could Cyclops see. He looked at Bai Ye and said, "Let's compete again, just…"

Before he could finish, the familiar feeling came again. Bai Ye watched as Cyclops once again hastily closed his eyes, twirling the confiscated visor in his fingers.

"Do you need me to demonstrate again?" Bai Ye smiled and tossed the glasses back.

Watching Cyclops put his glasses back on, everyone had to admit that their movements were indeed too slow compared to Bai Ye.

If this young man was really hostile, it would only take a moment to kill them.

Inside a seaside base, Magneto looked at Sabretooth, who had returned alone, and asked, "What happened?"

"The target was intercepted by a human named Bai Ye," Sabretooth said.

"Bai Ye?" Magneto thought of the interview from a week ago: "How did you run into him?"

"It seems to be a request from the X-Men, and that person knows about our plan. He knows about our machine-making." Sabretooth replied.

"How is this possible? Did Charles pry into your memories?" Magneto mused.

"No, it seems only that person knows. He said the machine we built has significant flaws. He wants us to find him within three days, he wants to talk."

Flaws in the machine? Wants to talk to me?

Magneto was even more puzzled. An ordinary human wanting to talk to him, a Mutant? What was there to discuss?

"Fine, I'd like to see what he wants to talk about." Magneto said calmly. "Have your people immediately investigate Bai Ye and the target's whereabouts."

Half an hour later, Sabretooth returned, having gathered information from his network. "The inside man at Xavier's School sent word. Bai Ye has arrived at the Mutant Academy with the target."

"But they didn't stay long. It seems there was a conflict with the X-Men. They left the academy shortly after."

"A conflict with the X-Men."

Magneto, who was already somewhat displeased that Bai Ye had gone to the academy, curled his lips slightly. "Send me his current location. I'll go find him myself."

As his words fell, the old man clenched his right hand, and the metal wall behind him transformed into a giant iron plate under his control.

Magneto took a step forward, onto a smooth iron plate. Controlled by his magnetic powers, the plate lifted off the ground, carrying him out of the base and across the sea.

Bai Ye, driving back, looked ahead while speaking to Rogue in the passenger seat. "Are you sure you don't want to stay at the Academy? You want to leave with me?"

Rogue nodded firmly. "I'll go with you. Is there anything you need me to help with?"

"Help, huh." Bai Ye thought for a moment. "For now, try to control your abilities. For example, try absorbing only other people's stamina through touch."

"Or try developing your abilities, like absorbing powers from a distance, or making inanimate objects absorb their traits through contact."

"And also, see if you can permanently retain the abilities you absorb, or even transmit them." Bai Ye said casually.

He knew Rogue could do all of these things in the comics. There was no reason she couldn't now.

The reason she was so useless in the original movie plot was probably because she was resistant to her own powers, never using them much, let alone developing them.

'Control the absorption ability.' Rogue looked at her hands, lost in thought. Bai Ye's suggestions were indeed good: "But, I don't know who to use it on, how do I practice?"

"It doesn't matter. I'll buy you a crate of white mice tomorrow, and you can practice on them." Bai Ye said indifferently. Anyway, the mice's lives weren't worth much, they were cheap.

'White mice!' Rogue was stunned, she hadn't expected to be able to practice like that, and then thought it was a great idea.

But before she could speak, she found that with a creaking sound of steel, the entire car was suspended in mid-air, no longer moving forward.

"What happened?" Rogue was startled, looking at the supernatural phenomenon before her.

"Nothing, just another Mutant. Wait for me here for a bit." Bai Ye's tone was incredibly relaxed, inwardly sighing that he was worthy of being a villain, his execution was too strong.

He opened the car door and got out, looking up to see an old man with a metal helmet on his head, standing on a giant steel grinding wheel, descending.

"Humans, I heard you were looking for me, and now I'm here." Magneto said.

Four sharp iron spears split from the metal disk beneath him, surrounding him. If Bai Ye's next words displeased him, he would attack immediately.

Bai Ye didn't waste any time, speaking directly, "I want to become a Mutant. I want to borrow that machine of yours."
