Chapter 129 - A Massacre Begins

Inside the Empire State Building, all the participants of the hearing sat quietly in their seats, ready for the meeting that revolved around Bai Ye.

"It's unfortunate, but Mr. Bai Ye will not be attending as a witness today. We've tried to contact him, but there's been no response so far. Therefore, we will proceed with the explanation in his absence."

On stage, the speaker addressed the audience in a calm and measured tone.

"So he really didn't come, huh? Hmph! Guess he's too scared to show up!"

"It doesn't matter. As long as today's judgment is made, it'll take effect regardless of his absence."

"My arm and leg were broken by him! He doesn't even have the guts to face me now?"

As soon as they heard that Bai Ye wasn't coming, whispers spread through the room. Some were indignant at being ignored, others secretly relieved.

"Even if Mr. Bai Ye isn't here, we'll still proceed with today's hearing and—"

The announcer's calm explanation was suddenly cut short as the large doors opposite him creaked open.

Everyone turned to look toward the sound.

A black-haired young man with disheveled hair and wild, unrestrained eyes strode in, his voice loud and clear:

"I heard you were talking about me."

Bai Ye!

Everyone's hearts skipped a beat. The arrogance and bluster that had filled the room moments before evaporated instantly.

Confronted with the man himself, their earlier bravado vanished like mist before the sun—because compared to them, this young man was truly a monster, a walking disaster.

Though most shrank back, there were still those reckless enough to challenge the stronger.

A middle-aged man with a broken arm and a crippled leg struggled to his feet with the help of a crutch, fury burning in his eyes. Blocking Bai Ye's path, he shouted, "You finally dare to show your face! I'm going to make you answer for what you've done—my hands, my legs—!"

But Bai Ye didn't even slow down. It was as if he hadn't heard a word, continuing straight toward the podium where the speaker stood.

The man instinctively flinched aside—but not far enough.

Splack!

A wet, sticky sound echoed like flesh striking a wall. Bai Ye's pace never faltered as he stopped before the stunned speaker.

Half of the speaker's face was now splattered with crimson blood. Behind Bai Ye, the crippled man—who had only brushed against him in passing—now stood with only half his body remaining. The rest had burst apart like a smashed tomato, painting half the room red.

The solemn, dignified hearing room was now half a church, half a slaughterhouse—holy and hellish all at once.

The bisected man wavered for a moment, then collapsed to the ground.

"AAAHHHHHH!!!"

After a brief silence, the room erupted into panicked screams.

But their voices were quickly drowned out—by Bai Ye's.

Irritated, he turned his head and roared at them in fury.

He inhaled deeply through his chest, then exhaled with explosive force—his breath turning into a visible shockwave that tore through the air.

"ROAR!!!"

In an instant, every window in the room shattered. The thunderous bellow seemed as if it could tear the entire building apart.

Everyone clutched their ears in agony and crouched down, their minds ringing so loud they could barely think.

Bai Ye sneered, casting an icy glance over the trembling crowd before turning back to snatch the microphone from the stunned speaker's hands.

He spoke into it, his tone utterly cold:

"This is a hearing. A place for speaking calmly. Don't scream like you're in a street fight—it ruins the order."

"If you've got nothing to say, then shut up and listen. Anyone who tries to run dies."

Standing on the podium, his gaze swept across the audience—cold, sharp, filled with killing intent. Most trembled uncontrollably.

But one man, defiant, glared up at him and shouted, "You're nothing but a brute using violence to threaten us! I'm not afraid of you!"

The moment he spoke, those near him immediately stepped back, terrified of being caught in the crossfire.

Through the cameras broadcasting live, Bai Ye's actions had already caught the attention of most of the world. His behavior under the eyes of millions left everyone stunned. Even the high-ranking figures who secretly didn't want him harmed could no longer protect him.

In a villa somewhere, Camilla stared blankly at the television screen. Didn't he say he was just going to a gathering? How had things turned into this?

Meanwhile, in the phone Bai Ye had tossed into the hollow space, calls kept coming in—Magneto, Ross, Gwen, Rogue, Nick Fury…

Dozens of people, each with their own reasons, were desperately trying to reach him, confused and alarmed by his sudden rampage.

Bai Ye grinned savagely at the man who had just stood up. "You say you're not afraid of me? Then why's your heart racing so fast? Why are your legs shaking?"

Thump, thump, thump…

He could hear it—the man's heartbeat pounding violently in his ears.

The man clenched his jaw. "It's just nerves, that's all."

Bai Ye smiled, pointing directly at him. "This guy says he's not afraid of me. Then to test his bravery, I'll kill the person with the slowest heartbeat every three seconds… until it's his turn."

"One…"

As he spoke the number, his right index finger shifted slightly. A purple beam of energy shot out, piercing a man's heart.

"Two…"

Three seconds later, another body fell.

"Three…"

And another.

By the time the third fell lifeless, everyone finally realized Bai Ye wasn't bluffing.

A woman began jumping wildly, her large chest heaving as she tried to raise her heart rate through sheer panic.

Another man with a bandaged arm bit his lip hard and grabbed his still-healing wound. Pain shot through him, forcing his heart to race even faster.

But amid the chaos, one man acted differently—he moved against the current. He strode forward, grabbed the defiant man by the collar, and with a surge of inner strength, slammed his fist into the man's chest like a hammer.

Bai Ye looked at the attacker in surprise, then lowered his hand slightly, a grin tugging at his lips. "Solving the problem at the source… genius."

"What's your name? Why are you here at this meeting?" Bai Ye asked.

"Mr. Bai, my name's Taban. I work here. I had to attend," the man replied calmly.

"Taban, huh? You've impressed me. You can go." Bai Ye waved a hand dismissively.
