Chapter 157 - He Really Has Become Superman Now!

White Night endured the strange sensation of the cosmic storm sweeping across his entire body, his gaze fixed on the description panel of his status screen.

Description:Your body has undergone an ability storm. Your awakened mutant gene has begun mutating and ascending.Total duration: 10 hours, 12 minutes, 31 seconds.

Mutation Ability Probability:

[Stance]: 37.74%[Self-Limit]: 62.26%

"It's not awakening a new ability, but enhancing the one I already have?" White Night muttered to himself as he looked at the panel.

Beside him, Susan, Johnny, and Ben had already fallen unconscious instantly under the sweep of the cosmic storm, collapsing weakly to the ground.

Bending down, White Night caught Susan's soft, boneless body just before she could fall. Then he sat cross-legged on the ground, quietly waiting for this wave of cosmic storm to pass.

Taking advantage of this downtime, White Night began contemplating the matter of Earth's spiritual energy backflow.

In the plot of Fantastic Four 1, by the later half, Reed had already developed a device capable of reverting superpowered individuals back into normal humans — they simply chose not to use it.

But now, Mr. Fantastic had vanished to who knows where. There wasn't even anyone available to create such a device.

I'll have someone look for that guy once I get back, White Night thought as he held Susan in his arms.

Meanwhile, inside a base hidden deep within a rainforest, Reed stared wide-eyed at the people around him and roared:

"We agreed that once I cooperated with the theoretical experiments, you would let me go back! According to my calculations, in ten hours, the cosmic storm will pass Earth!"

"Dr. Richards, please don't be upset," Coulson tried to soothe him. "I've already explained — the world outside is now completely ruled by a tyrannical demon. Keeping you here is to protect you."

"As long as you cooperate and help us complete the full version of the Sentinel robots, once we defeat that dictator, you will be humanity's savior."

"Then what about my experiment?! That storm only passes Earth once in a very long time. All of my years of planning have gone to waste!"

Reed was furious — he had poured the capital of the first half of his life into this.

Coulson was helpless. In truth, S.H.E.L.L.D. (the Snake Shield Bureau) did have the means to send Reed into space. But launching an unauthorized aircraft into orbit? That would make them a perfect target for White Night's government.

"You've completely lost my trust now. Even if you imprison me, I will not provide any research assistance to your project," Reed said coldly, turning away without hesitation.

Watching Reed leave, Coulson picked up his phone and called Nick Fury.

"Director, Dr. Richards refuses to cooperate," Coulson reported.

"I understand," Fury replied calmly on the other end. "Start with soft measures. If he still refuses, then move to forced ones."

Coulson's tone grew heavy. "Yes, Director."

"And I've found traces of our target here in Brazil," Fury added. "The Sentinel Program may not make it in time. We'll have to gamble everything."

White Night was now the Snake Shield Bureau's greatest enemy, and Fury had begun gathering all possible information on him.

After such a long period of investigation, Fury had more or less deduced White Night's terrifying exponential growth rate.

If White Night was truly as monstrous as Fury suspected, then even if Reed cooperated fully, a research project measured in years would be far too late.

By the time they created the completed Sentinel model, White Night might be able to poke it to pieces with one finger.

Back on the space station, White Night quietly waited for the cosmic storm to fade.

Ten minutes later, the visible orange glow dissipated. Standing in his phased space, White Night grabbed the heavily damaged arm section of the station with one hand and exerted strength.

Evenly distributing his internal force, he lifted the entire space station — hundreds of tons — then swung it hard and tossed it straight into the spatial gate.

Inside the White House, Stark stared at the early-arrival cosmic storm report on his screen. A deafening boom sounded behind him. Turning around, he saw a gigantic damaged space station parked right in front of the White House, having come through the teleportation gate.

The pressure difference between outer space and Earth's surface created a violent gust of wind, but once the portal closed, the surroundings quickly calmed.

White Night walked out, looked at the stunned Stark, and said, "Just came back from outer space. Have Victor recover this space station."

"And also, keep an eye on Dr. Richards' location. When you find him, notify me."

Holding Susan in his arms, White Night turned to leave. Stark hurriedly shouted:

"Hey, hey, hey — aren't you going to say anything about all this?!"

White Night paused mid-step and said casually:

"What's there to say? It's not like the sky is falling. I'm just having you clean up a bit of the mess."

With that, White Night stepped into the portal again and disappeared. Stark could only stare helplessly at the elusive White Night — and at the "mess" left behind for him to handle.

He didn't return to his residence. After settling Susan safely, White Night went alone to the peak of the Himalayas, waiting for the ten-plus hours to quietly pass.

He wanted to see how far his abilities had mutated.

As time flowed by, White Night could clearly feel his spatial power undergoing some indescribably massive transformation.

Though nothing showed to the naked eye, he sensed the emergence of certain abstract things within his phased space — indescribable, impossible to articulate.

In silence, the ten hours slipped by.

Description:Your mutant gene has undergone a mutation ascension.Total duration: 10 hours, 12 minutes, 31 seconds. You have awakened a new ability: [Stance]

Stance, huh… White Night murmured as he read the message. When the ability fully stabilized, he began to test it.

Soon, a subtle, mysterious sensation welled up within him. White Night closed his eyes and followed the feeling.

Under this profound sensation, White Night realized he could interfere with and redirect every bit of force in his own body.

"This is…" He picked up a chunk of steel. An invisible field wrapped around it.

With the slightest movement of his finger — applying only a normal human level of force — the next moment, the entire steel block was crushed instantly.

So this is Stance, White Night thought as he looked at the shattered steel.

Although he hadn't exerted significant force with his arm, the crushing power wasn't created from nothing — it had been transferred through the activation of his latissimus dorsi muscles.

Put simply, White Night could distribute or concentrate the force from any part of his body through an invisible field.

"…I really have become Superman now," White Night thought inexplicably.
