Emily was using small ice blades, shooting at the undead. Those ice blades froze the surroundings of where the blade hit. In this case, those bones weren't pierced by those blades, but they broke up the surroundings of where they hit.
The ice caused the undead to collapse; a simple break caused the crumble of the whole body. If a leg dislocated, it fell, and the way it fell caused the whole destruction.
Emma on the other side. She was using her magic; mostly she used her vines to destroy the enemy. Her vines sprouted from the ground as she summoned them, and mostly, the vines caught a lot of the undead. Maybe a hundred or a couple of them.
