In the dream.
Dominic—or rather, Dragon Rain Xuann—found himself standing in a distorted space. The sky was torn into multi-colored fragments, and the ground beneath his feet was like a shattered mirror, constantly reflecting his blurred image. Whispers, mockery, and murmurs echoed in his ears, as if countless versions of himself were arguing incessantly.
Suddenly, five figures emerged from the darkness. Each represented a fragment of his personality, and each was both similar to him and strangely unfamiliar.
Joker Dominic stepped forward first. A twisted smile was plastered on his face, and he held a broken mirror in his hand. His tone was filled with a strange excitement: "Dragon Rain Xuann, come take a look." He raised the mirror to Dragon Rain Xuann's face, but the reflection was that of a pale, thin man with bloodshot eyes, whose gaze held a complex mix of pain and struggle.
"Look, this is the real Dragon Rain Xuann," Joker Dominic's voice was mocking and playful. "Your appearance, your physique, all the exhaustion and insignificance. We are not you, Dragon Rain Xuann, we are Dominic. We are stronger than you, freer than you. We are the person you dream of becoming but can never reach."
Dragon Rain Xuann took a step back, looking at him in confusion: "Dominic? What do you mean? Who are you?"
Superman Dominic strode forward, straightening his back. His tone was calm but carried an unquestionable authority: "According to my deduction, this is the influence of the Reality Stone. It has torn apart your subconscious and manifested the fragments of your personality. We are different aspects of your inner self, and this dream is merely an unconscious dialogue."
"Reality Stone?" Dragon Rain Xuann's brow furrowed even tighter. He tried to grasp the logic of it all, but found that every detail slipped through his fingers like sand.
Homelander Dominic scoffed, crossing his arms, his tone cold and disdainful: "You need an explanation? Please, look at yourself. You've been pretending to be a savior, but in reality, you're just escaping. Escaping reality, escaping responsibility. You enjoy power, but you're afraid to truly face your own vulnerability. Does that sound familiar?"
"Enough!" Dragon Rain Xuann clenched his fists, trying to make his voice firmer. "You say I'm escaping, but what does each of you represent? In the end, you are just a part of me!"
God Dominic slowly walked over, his posture like a deity stepping down from a statue. His tone carried a calm solemnity: "We are Dominic, and you are Dragon Rain Xuann. The intertwining of your imagined perfection and real-life inadequacy created us. Superman represents your aspirations, Homelander symbolizes your lust for power, Joker is your chaos and anger, and I represent your pursuit of meaning and control."
"What about him?" Dragon Rain Xuann pointed to the Mad Dominic standing to the side. The man was lowering his head, constantly stirring a cup of green liquid in his hand, occasionally letting out a few low, maniacal laughs.
Mad Dominic raised his head, his eyes flickering with a light that mixed madness and wisdom. His tone was light and airy: "Me? I am your fervent pursuit of meaninglessness, your true reaction every time you look at this absurd World. You know, right? No plan, no meaning. We live to tear apart those self-righteous rules, and incidentally, see if we can find some fun."
"Enough!" Dragon Rain Xuann abruptly interrupted him, his voice echoing in the distorted space. His chest heaved violently, but his eyes held anger and determination. "What is each of you talking about? Personality fragments? Absurd pursuits? I am just me, an ordinary person."
"Ordinary person?" Homelander Dominic scoffed, walking up to him and staring down at him. "Dragon Rain Xuann, stop deceiving yourself. You know you are no longer an ordinary person. Your power, your choices, have long made you someone who cannot turn back."
"He's right." Superman Dominic interjected, his gaze filled with deep insight. "You have always tried to maintain what you call normal, but every battle, every decision, takes you further from your original self."
"What does that matter?" Dragon Rain Xuann roared, a hint of unwillingness in his voice. "What about power? What about choices? I am still me, I haven't changed!"
Joker Dominic let out a burst of maniacal laughter, full of sarcasm: "Haven't changed? My goodness, you are truly adorably naive! Dragon Rain Xuann, do you know? Change itself is the only constant. And we are the product of your suppression, your hiding, your struggles. Accept it, or continue to deceive yourself."
Mad Dominic spread his arms wide, laughing heartily, his tone full of excitement: "Yes, accept us, accept yourself. You've been searching for answers, but the answer was right in front of you all along—you are you, everything, it's all a part of you."
Dragon Rain Xuann fell silent. He looked at the "selves" before him, feeling a heavy stone pressing on his chest. He knew there was truth in their words, but also thorns.
Dragon Rain Xuann's silence made the air heavy. In the distorted space, the light seemed to gradually fade, and a low humming sound echoed around them. Joker Dominic narrowed his eyes slightly, taking a step closer, his smile twisted like a torn wound on his face.
"Look, he's scared." Joker Dominic mocked in a very low voice. "Scared of facing his true self. How interesting, isn't it? Someone who once thought he was omnipotent, now doesn't even dare to admit his own nature."
"Enough." Superman Dominic's voice echoed like thunder in the space. He stepped forward, blocking Dragon Rain Xuann with his tall figure. "We are not here to mock him, we are here to make him understand that he must accept himself."
Joker Dominic shrugged indifferently, waving his hand casually as if shooing away a fly: "Accept? Accept what? Accept that he's a failure? Or accept that he doesn't even deserve to be called 'human' anymore?"
"Enough." God Dominic interrupted the argument, his tone carrying an undeniable authority. "Whether he is willing to accept it or not, the facts will not change. The meaning of our existence is not to argue, but to remind him that his choices are the key to everything."
Dragon Rain Xuann raised his head, his gaze sweeping over each "self." He found that each of their eyes held emotions he was familiar with—fear, anger, hope, pride, doubt. He took a deep breath, trying to calm his breathing: "If everything you say is true, then I ask you one thing—why me? Why did these powers, these responsibilities, fall specifically on me?"
Homelander Dominic let out a cold laugh. He leaned against the side, arms crossed: "Does that even need asking? Because you were willing. You wanted more from the beginning. More power, more control, more... 'meaning.' Stop pretending to be innocent, Dragon Rain Xuann, you chose this path yourself."
"I had no choice!" Dragon Rain Xuann roared, his voice exploding in the space. "If I didn't do this, if I didn't take on these things, what else could I be? An ordinary person? A nobody? A passerby no one remembers?"
Mad Dominic clapped his hands, bursting into maniacal laughter: "Ah, finally you said it! You are afraid of being ordinary, afraid of being forgotten, afraid of ending your life with nothing. So you chose this path, even if it makes you lose everything, you don't want to turn back!"
God Dominic's gaze grew deeper, his voice low and certain: "While you fear being ordinary, you are also trying to prove your worth. Dominic, this is your contradiction, and also the source of your strength. Because you are unwilling to settle, you struggle. Because you struggle, you move forward."
"And struggle itself is a kind of meaning." Superman Dominic added, his voice firmer than the other personalities. "That's also why we can exist. You don't need to be perfect, you don't need to be omnipotent, you need to embrace your imperfections."
Joker Dominic raised the mirror in his hand, turning it towards Dragon Rain Xuann: "Come, look at this face again. This is you, a pathetic and laughable existence. But at the same time, this is the root that we all cling to—the real you."
The reflection in the mirror suddenly changed, becoming Dominic's face, but the expressions on the face constantly switched—anger, ecstasy, sadness, confusion. This constant alternation made Dragon Rain Xuann dizzy. He subconsciously raised his hand to cover his head, his voice trembling slightly: "This is impossible... This isn't me..."
"This is you." Homelander Dominic replied mercilessly. "Stop hiding, Dragon Rain Xuann. Do you think you can keep pretending forever? Power, responsibility, humanity—you can no longer distinguish between these things. Accept it, or be destroyed."
Dragon Rain Xuann's hand slowly dropped. His gaze gradually became firm. He stared at his reflection in the mirror, as if he had finally seen the blurred lines clearly.
"You're right." His voice was low and hoarse, but it carried an unprecedented strength. "I am indeed afraid. I am afraid of being ordinary, afraid of losing control, afraid of facing my true self. But so what?"
He raised his head, his gaze sweeping over the five Dominics: "I also know that each of you is an inseparable part of me. No matter what you represent, I cannot get rid of you. But that doesn't mean I will be controlled by you."
Superman Dominic smiled slightly, nodding gently, a hint of approval in his tone: "That's what we wanted to hear."
Joker Dominic rolled his eyes, mocking: "What a touching declaration. Should I applaud?"
"Shut up." Dragon Rain Xuann said coldly, his tone devoid of any hesitation for the first time. "From now on, I am Dominic, and I am Dragon Rain Xuann. I will walk my own path, not yours."
The light in the space gradually returned to stability. The figures of the five Dominics began to blur, eventually dissolving into nothingness. Dragon Rain Xuann stood in front of the empty mirror, looking at his reflection, a faint smile playing on his lips.
