Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: Spirit City.

Chapter 27: Spirit City.

The qualifying rounds didn't affect the roster for the finals. The most notable match was Tang San's battle with Feng Xiaotian. Using his Chaos Cloak Hammer technique, he battled the Wind Wolf with 36 consecutive slashes, but Feng Xiaotian narrowly lost.

Xiao Fei had been puzzled lately: Feng Xiaotian, the renowned "licker" from the original novel, hadn't been seen visiting Huo Wu in ages.

So Xiao Fei quietly approached Huo Wushuang and asked, "Why haven't I seen Feng Xiaotian visit Huo Wu lately?"

Huo Wushuang looked at Xiao Fei with disdain, then reluctantly replied, "Last year, Feng Xiaotian came to visit Huo Wu. Huo Wu, impatient, told Feng Xiaotian that she was dating you. Huo Wu also said she didn't like men weaker than him, which caused Feng Xiaotian to withdraw for a long time."

Xiao Fei was speechless. "How could he be blamed like this? He's sitting at home, and yet the blame comes from nowhere. No wonder Feng Xiaotian has a gloomy face lately." Huo Wushuang glanced at Xiao Fei, then shook his head and left.

Blazing Academy ultimately advanced with the highest ranking. After a month's rest, everyone, led by Xue Qinghe and 500 knights, set out for Wuhun City.

Xiao Fei had been diligently cultivating during this period, feeling as if he were only a hair's breadth away from becoming a Soul King. Xiao Fei couldn't help but wonder: Why had his cultivation slowed so much after reaching level 40?

He'd only reached six levels in two years, and now he was being overtaken by Huo Wushuang and Huo Wu. While the two combined weren't his match in terms of combat power, he still felt a sense of unease.

So, in the carriage, Xiao Fei reviewed the four original novels he'd read, feeling as if he'd missed something. Suddenly, Xiao Fei's eyes flashed. He stood up unconsciously, surprising Huo Wu and Huo Wushuang nearby.

Xiao Fei finally understood: after absorbing his fourth soul ring, his flame had evolved into the Ultimate Flame. Between levels 30 and 70, cultivation of the Ultimate attribute is slow, like a tortoise's crawl.

But above level 70, the subsequent upgrades are like rocketship. Xiao Fei was still a little unwilling to accept this. After all, in less than ten years, the world would be in chaos.

So Xiao Fei got off the carriage and walked over to Dean Huo Tianchen's carriage. "Hello, Dean, I have something I'd like to ask you."

The Dean called Xiao Fei into the carriage, and the two sat facing each other. "Xiao Fei, what questions do you have for me?"

Xiao Fei then told Huo Tianchen about his slowing cultivation speed.

Just as Xiao Fei finished speaking, Huo Tianchen smiled and said, "I thought you wouldn't ask me. Actually, if you asked anyone else this question, I doubt anyone would be able to answer it, including those old men in the Spirit Hall. But you asked the right person."

"A similar phenomenon to yours occurred to one of my ancestors. That ancestor was also a fanatical cultivator. After experiencing your situation, he kept pondering this question, consulted all the ancient texts, and finally discovered the cause. The ancient texts only record four words: Ultimate Fire. That ancestor persisted in his cultivation, and after reaching level 70, his training speed was surprisingly much faster than others."

"And there's another point. Ultimate attributes have another characteristic: invincibility at the same level."

Huo Tiancheng extended his right hand and summoned his own flame.

"Xiao Fei, bring out yours and compare it with mine."

Xiao Fei also extended his right hand and condensed a ball of flame. Xiao Fei's flame was able to absorb and destroy Huo Tianchen's flame.

Huo Tianchen continued, "You've been working incredibly hard these past two years, cultivating, training, and improving your spirit power. But you haven't seriously studied your martial spirit, whether it's the Fire Phoenix itself or its flame. You've used it very little. How much do you know about the Fire Phoenix?"

"The only way to accelerate the cultivation of the Ultimate Fire is to truly understand your own flame."

Xiao Fei returned to his carriage. Wushuang and Huo Wu looked at Xiao Fei with concern. Huo Wushuang, Huo Wu, and Xiao Fei spent nearly every day together, and they were aware of Xiao Fei's shifts in thinking, especially his current impatience.

Furthermore, over the past two years, Huo Wushuang and Huo Wu had both increased their spirit power by over ten levels, while Xiao Fei had only increased by six levels, which was quite unusual.

Xiao Fei smiled at the two and said, "It's okay. I just had some questions, and I went to ask Dean Huo. Now I think everything's fine."

The two breathed a sigh of relief.

One day, while walking down the road, a powerful surge of soul power suddenly erupted ahead. Opening the window, he saw countless black-clad figures surrounding the convoy and engaging in combat with the surrounding soldiers. For a moment, the entire place was filled with flames and soul power.

Xiao Fei looked carefully. Not many people were approaching Chihuo's side, and the highest soul power was no more than a Seven-Ringed Soul Sage. Dean Huo Tianchen, a Soul Douluo, hadn't even left his carriage.

Xiao Fei quietly pulled Huo Wu and Huo Wushuang aside, saying, "We'll stay here. Don't join the fight. They're not targeting us."

Sure enough, if the Chihuo Academy students didn't actively engage, the Soul Sages wouldn't pay attention.

The battle continued until, suddenly, a giant chrysanthemum appeared in the sky, while countless sword lights flashed from the other side. Finally, the soul power surge faded, signaling the end of the battle.

Back in the carriage, Huo Wushuang and Huo Wu asked in confusion, "How do you know this battle has nothing to do with us?"

"That giant chrysanthemum that appeared is the Qirong Tongtian Chrysanthemum, the spirit of Ju Douluo of the Spirit Hall. That was just Spirit Hall's business. They weren't targeting us at all,"

Huo Wushuang asked. "Then their target?...the Clear Sky Hammer?"

"We can't interfere in the feud between the Three Supreme Sects and the Spirit Hall, nor do we have the ability to do so."

The three of them fell silent.

Five days later, a massive castle appeared in the sky. This was Spirit City. Its walls were 80 meters high, and six walls surrounded the entire city. Xiao Fei looked behind the Spirit Hall and saw a massive angel statue. Could that be the legendary Douluo Hall?

Everyone disembarked, and only the 15 participating teams and their mentors could enter Spirit City. Xiao Fei followed the team slowly towards Spirit City.

After checking into the hotel, Xiao Fei and the other two walked along the streets of Spirit City, strolling through the streets. Looking at the bustling streets, were they vendors or tourists?

Everyone had a warm and friendly face, and there was no class difference between people. There were no nobles, nor slaves. Xiao Fei thought of his past life. Perhaps this was the life people wanted.

However, the war shattered everything. The Spirit Hall started the war and lost it. For ten thousand years after that, it was hard to see such a phenomenon again. And the reason for all this was just because of a crazy woman.

Xiao Fei walked on the road, admiring this last beautiful view, feeling infinitely lonely.
