Chapter 190 - Tang Ya — Ancestor Tang San, Please Don’t Blame Me

"Have some hot water."Zhang Lexuan soon returned and handed Huo Yuhao a cup.

Huo Yuhao took it somewhat awkwardly. From the corner of his eye, he occasionally glanced at Zhang Lexuan, but she appeared even calmer than he was.

After taking a sip to steady himself, Huo Yuhao took the initiative to ask, "Senior Sister, how long was I asleep?"

"About five hours," Zhang Lexuan replied.

Hearing this, Huo Yuhao nodded and fell silent.

Seeing this, Zhang Lexuan said, "I'll go inform Elder Mu and the others that you've woken up."

"Ah, okay." Huo Yuhao hurriedly nodded.

Zhang Lexuan turned and left.

Sitting on the bed, Huo Yuhao's thoughts had already entered his Sea of Spirit.

"Teacher, how did things go?"

The gray vortex pulsed, and Electrolux's steady voice rang out. "Everything went smoothly. That little girl Wang Dong's soul has already been torn apart by me. At present, the soul fragments are sealed within your Sea of Spirit. As for the planar consciousness, after you released your intention to meet it, there was no response."

Huo Yuhao raised an eyebrow. Only then did he notice that not far from Electrolux, a pair of blue-gold dust-like fragments were floating—presumably Tang Wutong's soul.

However, learning that the planar consciousness still hadn't sought him out left Huo Yuhao somewhat disappointed.

If the planar consciousness refused to communicate, the follow-up plans regarding artificial soul rings would be difficult to continue.

"You've begun to worry about gains and losses," Electrolux admonished. "For the plan to have progressed to this point is already quite smooth. The road ahead is still long—plenty for you to walk."

Huo Yuhao was momentarily dazed, then laughed at himself. "You're right, Teacher. Being able to shatter Tang San's daughter's soul already counts as successfully completing the task. I was being rash."

Electrolux said in a deep voice, "According to Mu En's intentions, you'll still be studying at Shrek Academy for nearly two more years, then go to the Sun Moon Empire as an exchange student. During these two years, they'll have you seriously study soul tools and martial soul cultivation. As for me, I'll fully guide you in practicing necromantic magic."

"In the days to come, you'll need to split a single day into many parts. In other words, you won't have things as easy as you do now. Be prepared."

Huo Yuhao took a deep breath, his gaze firming. "I understand."

"They're here. Let's stop here for now," Electrolux's voice faded.

"Creak."

The door opened gently. Mu En walked in, followed by Zhang Lexuan. Seeing this, Huo Yuhao immediately stood up to salute.

"That's enough," Mu En waved a hand, a gentle wave of soul power stopping Huo Yuhao from bowing.

"How's your recovery? Are there still residual memories from the Auspicious Beast disturbing you?" Mu En asked with concern.

"Rest assured, Grandmaster. Everything's stable now. I won't be affected by any memory disturbances anymore," Huo Yuhao said honestly.

"That's good." Mu En nodded, then joked, "Di Tian isn't easy to deal with. This old man doesn't want to face him again next time."

Huo Yuhao scratched his head.

After that, Mu En explained the tasks assigned to Huo Yuhao over the next year and eight months.

Just as Electrolux had said, Huo Yuhao would be running back and forth between the Soul Tool Department and the Inner Court. The burden on his shoulders would be heavy.

Based on Huo Yuhao's own memories, in the original story, when the "grilled fish" went to the Sun Moon Empire, he was around fourteen years old.

"By the way, Grandmaster," Huo Yuhao took a deep breath, "there's something I need to ask leave for—several days. May I?"

"Something?" Mu En was puzzled and initially wanted to ask more, but seeing how serious Huo Yuhao looked, he dropped the thought. "Approved."

"Thank you, Grandmaster," Huo Yuhao said respectfully.

Mu En smiled and said nothing more.

After leaving Sea God Pavilion, Huo Yuhao and Zhang Lexuan walked side by side along a forest path.

"Senior Sister, I'm really sorry about what happened earlier," Huo Yuhao apologized awkwardly.

A gentle smile appeared on Zhang Lexuan's graceful face. "It's fine. Just that next time you faint, I'll have to let Xiao Tao take care of you instead."

Hearing her teasing words, Huo Yuhao's mouth twitched. He hadn't expected even the gentle and elegant senior sister to have this side.

"Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh."

Just as Huo Yuhao was about to head toward Ma Xiaotao's usual cultivation area, several powerful streaks of light suddenly flew past him and Zhang Lexuan, rushing from the Inner Court toward the outside.

Huo Yuhao looked surprised. "What's going on?"

Zhang Lexuan said gravely, "The Sun Moon Empire has launched a war against the Star Luo Empire. Elder Mu has ordered the academy to enter a state of readiness. Those were many of the elders from Sea God Pavilion—their task is to coordinate the forces of Shrek City in advance."

"The Sun Moon Empire started a war?" Huo Yuhao was stunned. Had the war begun earlier than in the original story?Damn it, I haven't even finished developing yet and you're already fighting?

"The details aren't clear yet, but Elder Xuan and Elder Song have already gone to assist the Star Luo Empire. In my opinion, though, the Sun Moon Empire won't launch a full-scale war right now. It looks more like they're plotting something."

Zhang Lexuan's beautiful eyes narrowed slightly. As the Inner Court's senior sister, she knew far more than ordinary students.

"As long as it's not a full-scale war," Huo Yuhao let out a temporary sigh of relief.

Zhang Lexuan didn't catch the implication in his tone. Reaching the end of the forest path, she said, "Yuhao, I still have things to attend to, so I'll head off first. You can go on your own."

"Alright. Take care, Senior Sister," Huo Yuhao nodded.

Zhang Lexuan smiled gently and left.

Huo Yuhao stood there, his mind racing.

He had asked for leave in order to take Ma Xiaotao to the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well to look for immortal herbs. In the next few days, he had to secure those herbs as quickly as possible—there wouldn't be time to run around later.

Thinking this, Huo Yuhao headed in another direction—Ma Xiaotao's usual cultivation site.

As an Inner Court student, after the first year of instruction, most of the time was spent cultivating alone.

When he arrived, before even entering the cultivation chamber, he could already feel the dense aura of flames. There was no need to guess—it was Ma Xiaotao cultivating.

"Sis."

Stepping inside, Huo Yuhao released a wave of cold energy to protect himself from the scorching air and called out.

In an instant, the surging waves of flame disappeared. A tall, graceful figure walked out, facing Huo Yuhao directly.

Seeing him, Ma Xiaotao smiled. "What brings you to me today?"

She clearly didn't know about Huo Yuhao fainting.

Huo Yuhao stepped forward and said softly, "Sis, I've already asked Grandmaster for leave. Tomorrow morning, we'll set out for the Sunset Forest and try to find the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well."

Ma Xiaotao's eyes shrank. "That place really exists?"

"Yes." Huo Yuhao nodded. "It's just been hidden by someone."

"Hidden by someone?" Ma Xiaotao was a bit stunned.

"You'll know when the time comes," Huo Yuhao didn't explain further. "I'm also planning to make a trip to Shrek City now. Want to come along?"

"What, asking me on a date?" Ma Xiaotao flicked Huo Yuhao's forehead with a finger, teasing him.

Huo Yuhao chuckled. "I'd like to, but there's no time. I'm going to find Sister Xiao Ya. I promised her before to exchange certain things—and immortal herbs are the key."

Hearing that he was going to see Tang Ya, Ma Xiaotao froze for a moment, then gave Huo Yuhao a suspicious look. "That girl Xiao Ya belongs to Bei Bei. Don't tell me you have some ulterior motives."

"I—" Huo Yuhao widened his eyes, utterly speechless.

Ma Xiaotao burst out laughing. "Just kidding. Let's go then. I'll go with you to find Xiao Ya."

"Mm." Huo Yuhao pursed his lips.

The two left the Inner Court together, heading toward Ping'an Street outside Shrek Academy's back gate.

The academy itself was quiet. Most students were in the teaching buildings or the dueling arenas attending classes.

After learning that Huo Yuhao would be running back and forth between the Soul Tool Department and the Inner Court for over a year, Ma Xiaotao couldn't help worrying that he might not be able to handle it.

When they found Tang Ya, Huo Yuhao noticed she seemed to be preparing to go out.

"Yuhao, Sister Xiaotao."

Opening the door, Tang Ya froze for a moment, clearly not expecting the visitors to be Huo Yuhao and Ma Xiaotao.

"I'm here to fulfill our agreement, Sister Xiao Ya," Huo Yuhao said bluntly.

Tang Ya's expression shifted. She first invited the two inside, poured hot water, and then asked uncertainly, "Yuhao, can you really find the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well?"

"Yes," Huo Yuhao nodded firmly. "And I've already chosen suitable immortal herbs for you."

Tang Ya took a deep breath and voiced the decision she had been pondering and finally made. "If you can help me obtain immortal herbs, I'm willing to provide all of Tang Sect's secret techniques to you."

"What?" Ma Xiaotao exclaimed, turning to look at Huo Yuhao in shock. "Yuhao, the exchange you mentioned is Tang Sect's secret techniques?"

Huo Yuhao nodded. "That's right. I'm not a saint. Although Sister Xiao Ya is my friend and we can help each other in daily matters, when it comes to something as important as immortal herbs, it's a different matter."

Tang Ya smiled faintly, seemingly agreeing with Huo Yuhao's stance.

Ma Xiaotao forcibly suppressed her confusion and curiosity, choosing not to ask further.

Huo Yuhao naturally had major plans for Tang Sect's techniques. In the future, he intended to share one of them—Mysterious Heaven Technique—but not now. He planned to combine it with artificial soul rings later.

Among Tang Sect's techniques, Mysterious Heaven Technique was the most mysterious. You could say it was powerful, yet it originated from a martial-arts world. You could call it weak, yet it could evolve and adapt alongside the protagonist across different worlds.

In the Douluo V world, Mysterious Heaven Technique could even absorb the bloodlines of other races for one's own use—at that point, it was no longer martial arts but full-on fantasy.

In Douluo I, it could allow people to cultivate soul power. Just ask Jixiang from that era—Tang San's disciple, who originally had no soul power but became a soul master after practicing Mysterious Heaven Technique.

What Huo Yuhao wanted was to use Mysterious Heaven Technique and artificial soul rings as two sharp blades to become the sources of his future faith.

Of course, Mysterious Heaven Technique could be shared, while the other techniques would naturally be kept hidden—only specific people would be allowed to cultivate them.

As for worrying whether Mysterious Heaven Technique would make everyone incredibly strong—there was no need. If it really could turn every practitioner into a top-tier expert, Tang Sect wouldn't have declined. Tang Ya herself was the best example.

Back to the matter at hand.

"By the way, Sister Xiao Ya, I saw you were about to head out. Where are you going?" Huo Yuhao changed the topic after settling the exchange.

Tang Ya said, "I've already broken through to level forty. I'm planning to hunt a soul beast for my fourth soul ring. I was just about to go to the Adventurers' Association to hire someone to lead me."

"Bei Bei isn't willing to help you?" Ma Xiaotao frowned.

"No, no, Sister Xiaotao, don't misunderstand," Tang Ya hurriedly explained. "Bei Bei wants to help me, but I refused. I don't want to rely on him for everything."

Ma Xiaotao sighed. "But hiring soul masters from the Adventurers' Association is still asking for help—and it'll cost quite a bit of money. You might as well have your boyfriend help you."

Tang Ya paused, gave an awkward laugh, but didn't explain further.

Though Ma Xiaotao was straightforward, she could see Tang Ya's helplessness at this moment.

In the Outer Court, quite a few people secretly called Tang Ya a 'vase.' Though they didn't dare say it openly, being gossiped about behind her back was indeed unpleasant.

The academy wasn't some gentle paradise. Jealousy and hostility were everywhere.

"Don't waste money hiring people. I'll help you," Huo Yuhao said, looking at Tang Ya.

Hearing this, both Tang Ya and Ma Xiaotao looked over.

Huo Yuhao smiled. "Outside the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well, there's a soul beast called the Jade Phosphor Nine Severities Flower. Sister Xiao Ya, you should know it, right?"

"The Jade Phosphor Nine Severities Flower?" Tang Ya's beautiful eyes widened as she stared at Huo Yuhao. Of course she knew this special soul beast.

Tang Sect's inheritance records mentioned it: the Jade Phosphor Nine Severities Flower evolved from the Jade Phosphor Seven Severities Flower. The latter wasn't a soul beast but a variant plant. Once it evolved into the Nine Severities Flower, it directly became a ten-thousand-year soul beast.

If absorbed as a soul ring, its enhancement to plant-type martial souls would be tremendous, and the toxins it contained were no joke.

Yet its numbers in the outside world were terrifyingly small. Even Shrek Academy's records showed no more than three sightings over ten thousand years.

"Interested?" Huo Yuhao smiled slightly. "Tomorrow morning, Sister Xiaotao and I will set out. I'll come get you."

Tang Ya took a deep breath and nodded heavily. "Alright."

Huo Yuhao reminded her, "But remember—don't tell Brother Bei or anyone else."

"Don't worry, I understand," Tang Ya said naturally.

"Good. Sis, let's go." Huo Yuhao stood up and left the rental room together with Ma Xiaotao.

Watching the two go downstairs, Tang Ya hurried back to her bedroom and opened an ancient, simple box. Inside lay a special badge.

It was an inheritance item of the Tang Sect Master. The first person to use it had been Tang San.

Holding the badge with both hands, Tang Ya murmured apologetically, "Ancestor Tang San, please don't blame me. Tang Sect has already become history—let it disappear completely."

"I believe our Tang Sect techniques will flourish in Yuhao's hands. When that happens, you'll have something to be proud of as well."

After spending a brief bit of time together, when Huo Yuhao returned to the dormitory, night had already fallen. Along the way, any student who saw him greeted him with extreme enthusiasm—his popularity was astonishing.

Naturally so. Because of the enlightenment event, many students at Shrek Academy had benefited greatly—some saw their cultivation improve, some experienced surges in spiritual power, and some even had positive mutations in their martial souls.

All of this was brought about by Huo Yuhao. The title "life mentor" was well deserved.

Some of the classic quotes had even begun circulating in Shrek City, being remembered by more people. With the development of commerce, these words would spread like dandelion seeds, carried by the wind to other cities.

After enduring waves of praise and gratitude, Huo Yuhao finally made it back to his dormitory. The moment he opened the door, he saw Wang Dong sitting on the edge of the bed, her expression complicated.

Seeing Huo Yuhao, Wang Dong's dull eyes immediately lit up. "You're alright?"

"Yeah." Huo Yuhao smiled and nodded, then asked curiously, "You look a bit down. What's wrong?"

Wang Dong sighed. "I don't know what happened. My big dad and second dad suddenly told me to come home."

"Whoosh."

Hearing this, just as Huo Yuhao was about to sit down, his entire body suddenly tensed.
