Chapter 13 - DRAWN BATTLE LINE

Rafael was trying his hardest to suppress his instincts screaming for him to take his mates somewhere private and worship them.

Julian stood, and he felt every expression on his little mate's face.

Julian took an unconscious step forward. Rafael noted that the pain in his chest was gone.

He remembered Alma's words.

Their missing link was here, and it was a vampire. A freaking vampire.

He looked at him. The vampire was beautiful, more beautiful than any creature had any right to be. Tall and pale, kissed by the darkness of the night.

The scent of blood lilies assaulted Rafael's nose. So alluring and yet hiding a venom underneath

The vampire reminded Rafael of the ghost flowers, beautiful and tragic. Rafael wondered at his luck. To be mated to an omega and a vampire.

He was suddenly conscious of Siluren standing beside him, and he remembered his cryptic words earlier.

"The war will happen."

How was he to proceed? What would happen if anyone knew that he was mated to a vampire? The implications were terrifying. Who would trust an Alpha mated to a vampire, still considered by many wolves to be the mortal enemy?

He grit his teeth and willed himself to be expressionless. But he wondered, did the vampire feel the bond? He hazarded a look at Julian.

Julian could read every expression on his little mate. Shock and desire, like he was being pulled forward. Just from Julian's behavior, he knew that the others would know that something was up.

The vampires moved forward, two in the front. Rafael knew by their clothing, intricate and beautiful. These were vampire words. There was this energy about them, a beauty only ancient vampires could possess.

Rafael was host, and so he had to act accordingly.

"Welcome to the lands of the Moon," Rafael spoke, voice steady, to hide the storm of emotions within him right now. "We offer you, Our Night neighbours, peace on our lands."

The vampire in front, the one Rafael's heart reacted for, spread his hand out.

"May no blood be shed, no life lost, and peace reign."

He spoke first, the ancient words that officially began the treaty.

He was the first vampire to speak, that meant he was the oldest vampire present.

Rafael wondered how old. With the children of the night, you could never really tell.

His voice felt like dark red velvet to Rafael. He wanted to hear that voice moan in pleasure. He just blinked the errant thought away.

"I, Alpha Rafael of the Red Moon Pack, welcome you to the Blood Pack lands. The Red Moon Pack acquiesce the renewal of the treaty," Rafael said.

"I, Moran, Alpha of the Blue Moon Pack, acquiesce to the renewal of the treaty."

"I, Alpha Lydia of the Silver Moon Pack, acquiesce to the renewal of the treaty."

And then there was silence. Rafael glanced at Siluren, who still had a smirk on his face.

"Alpha Siluren," Rafael questioned.

"I think the Blood Red Moon has made its position very clear, Alpha Rafael." Siluren said "We want no treaty with these Forsaken Blood suckers"

Rafael had never felt so murderous before in his entire life.
