"Arg! Why am I not able to sleep?"
Anna groaned, jerking upright on her bed, her hair falling in messy waves over her shoulders. Her glare darted straight toward the door, that stupid, silent door that refused to open.
It had been the same every night for the past few days. The same restless tossing. The same silence. The same ridiculous, infuriating thought —' what if Daniel walks in?'
Only he didn't.
And that tiny, traitorous part of her that hoped he would… gnawed at her nerves.
"Ugh!" she huffed, grabbing her pillow and slamming it against the bed. "Why am I even thinking about that man?"
Ever since Betty's teasing that playful, maddening suggestion that Daniel might actually love her , Anna's emotions had been a chaotic mess.
She had brushed it off then, laughing it away as one of Betty's silly romantic fantasies. But that conversation had planted something dangerous in her head , something she couldn't quite shake off.
