I opened the door to the guest room, and before I could even step inside properly, Sera rushed forward and hugged me tightly.
I held her close, feeling her arms wrap around me. "Was the journey fine?" I asked softly, looking at Lydia.
"I have never ridden an animal that fast in my entire life," Lydia replied, as she smiled sarcastically.
"Well, obsidians are rare for a reason."
We all gathered around and shared a meal together, simple but satisfying after the long day. The conversation was light, carefully avoiding the heavier topics that hung in the air.
Finally, I decided to call it a day. "We'll discuss what happened tomorrow morning. You're all tired from riding."
They nodded in agreement.
We all left to head to our allotted rooms. Merin walked off quickly toward the room she'd been given, probably before I could tell her to sleep on the floor like I had been planning.
