Chapter 63 - Chapter 63: Night View of Jiangqiao

"It's clear you two are very happy."

"Then congratulations to owner number 334 for winning the first prize!"

"Everyone, a round of applause!"

The host led the applause, and although some people below were reluctant, they still followed suit.

Xavier stood on the stage, feeling a bit strange, as if he had seen this scene somewhere before.

Holding the first-prize card, Furina skipped off the stage, completely oblivious to everything else.

After the banquet dispersed, Hua Ling happened to call.

"Xavier, thank you so much for today. There shouldn't be any surprises, right?"

Xavier chuckled, "Of course there was a surprise."

This made Hua Ling very nervous: "Ah? Is something wrong with the house?"

Xavier didn't answer but reinitiated a video call.

Hua Ling was a bit confused, not knowing what was happening.

"Ta-da!"

Furina suddenly jumped into the camera, holding the first-prize card in her hand.

"How about it, Hua Ling, aren't I amazing!"

Hua Ling covered her mouth in surprise: "Oh my, you two are so lucky! I heard there's only one first prize."

"That's natural! As long as I, Furina, make an appearance, it's definitely first place!"

At this moment, Furina was like a child who had won first prize in a talent show at kindergarten, brimming with a sense of honor.

"Thank you so much, Furina. Next time I come over, I must treat you two to a meal!"

After thanking Xavier and Furina, Hua Ling hurriedly hung up, probably not finished with work yet.

By the time they arrived outside the hotel, the sky had gradually darkened.

Under the streetlights, Furina hummed a song Xavier didn't understand, feeling exceptionally good.

From this, it was clear that Furina was actually a very easily satisfied person.

As long as he ate something delicious or something fortunate happened, he could be happy for a long time.

Even if the prize itself didn't belong to him, he wouldn't mind.

Seeing Furina like this, Xavier felt a little moved.

He didn't know why, but he suddenly asked, "Furina, do you want to go for a drive and experience Jiangcheng at night?"

Furina immediately turned around and asked expectantly, "Really? Are we going to ride a motorcycle around Jiangcheng?"

"Yes!"

Seeing Xavier nod, Furina eagerly went to the motorcycle.

He obediently put on the helmet, no longer complaining about it pinching his head.

Xavier smiled, put on his helmet, and started the motorcycle.

"Let's go!"

Furina raised his arms, already happy, and became even happier.

When Xavier rode the motorcycle with Furina, it would be a rare sight in Jiangcheng.

Perhaps the autumn night would have a touch of chill, but it possessed a unique charm.

The feeling of traversing the city was exhilarating.

"Accelerate, accelerate!"

With his previous riding experience, Furina no longer seemed to fear this performance beast.

Xavier thought he did want to accelerate, but how could he go fast on city roads?

"Huh? Xavier, is this the Jiangcheng Bridge? It looks so long."

Going onto the bridge spanning both sides of the Yangtze River made Furina feel very new.

"Yes, it's over 6,000 meters long."

On the bridge, cars came and went, and beams of light illuminated the entire structure.

And on both sides of the bridge, many streetlights shone down.

This made Xavier suddenly remember that he had been there once when he was very young.

For a child born in a small county, the shock of this grand bridge was indescribable.

So, it was conceivable that Furina had a similar feeling at this moment, right?

"Wow! It turns out there are ships on the Yangtze River at night too!"

Furina suddenly noticed many ships sailing on the river, adorned with various neon lights.

At the center of the bridge, Furina opened his helmet visor, his clear eyes reflecting the scenery before him.

The entire bridge was like a road covered in an aurora, appearing out of thin air over this great river, leading to the other side.

The ships below drifted slowly, like fish in this steel city.

And the vehicles shuttling back and forth were even more like the city's blood, flowing endlessly.

The scenery of another world enveloped him, his long hair fluttering in the wind behind him.

The whole world seemed to quiet down.

Furina spread his hands, feeling it all.

His state of mind was very peaceful, and his heart was more fulfilled than ever before.

"Xavier."

Suddenly, Furina called out to Xavier.

The voice was very soft, but Xavier still caught it: "What's wrong?"

"Nothing, I just feel…"

"So beautiful…"

Looking in the rearview mirror, Xavier noticed tears in Furina's eyes.

He didn't understand why Furina was crying, but he knew it must be because he was happy, not sad.

He understood that at such a moment, the most correct choice was not to disturb him.

Surrounded by the night, although the two were silent, the distance between their hearts seemed to have drawn a little closer.

After leaving the bridge, Xavier rode towards the winding mountain road.

Finally, reaching the mountaintop, Xavier parked the car to the side.

From this angle, half of Jiangcheng was visible.

Below, tall buildings were brightly lit, constantly intertwining.

The two sat on a stone pier by the mountain, enjoying the quiet night.

After a while, Xavier finally asked, "How is it? Do you like it very much?"

"It's very beautiful, scenery I've never seen before…"

Furina nodded, seemingly not yet having fully emerged from his previous state.

A moment later, Furina suddenly asked, "Xavier, living in a place like this, you must feel very happy, right?"

Xavier laughed wryly: "Maybe happy now, but not before."

"Why?" Furina seemed a little unable to understand.

"I used to have to work, with no free time to enjoy life, no spiritual sustenance, and no way to find the so-called meaning of life."

Furina nodded thoughtfully, probably just like him playing the role of a god, no matter what, he could never truly relax.

Xavier then said, "But it's good now. With you all by my side, I feel happier than ever."

Furina glanced at Xavier, saying nothing.

He could feel that the other person, like him, was easily content.

"Alright, we should head back."

Xavier really wanted to sit here with Furina for a while longer, but time waits for no one.

"Okay, then let's go back!"

Furina seemed to have completely returned to his normal state, getting up and stretching.

When they returned home, only Hu Tao was still playing games, looking exactly like an internet-addicted Damselette.

"You're back! Then I should go back."

"Oh, I made dinner for you two. Goodbye!"

Seeing the two return, Hu Tao immediately turned off the game and then left.

"Xavier, isn't what we did a bit wrong…?" Furina felt a little guilty.

Although they hadn't known each other for long, he and Hu Tao had a very good relationship.

And yet he went out to eat delicious food behind her back.

"Sigh…" Xavier also felt a little guilty.

But when the two went to the kitchen, they realized they had felt guilty too soon.
