Chapter 269 - Chapter 269 Night and the Old Man

"If you're not going to help, then don't stand there making sarcastic remarks!" Kaveh clenched his fists.

Balladeer said indifferently, "Since so many of you are going to look for her, you'll find her even if I don't go. And even if I do go, I might not find her."

"Huh? What's this about finding or not finding?" Itto was very puzzled; the sentence sounded so convoluted.

And so, the search for Furina officially began.

In Xavier's opinion, this search should go relatively smoothly; even if Furina wasn't found, some clues should be.

However, he and Klee and the others hadn't found any special clues.

After searching for a long time, everyone returned to the living room and regrouped.

"How was it? Do you have any clues?" Xavier glanced at everyone.

Yoimiya spread his hands, "Absolutely no clues."

Cyno also shook his head, "We didn't find any trace of Furina."

Oz, by Fischl's side, flapped his wings and said, "I searched many inconspicuous corners, but I didn't find any trace of Miss Furina."

This made Xavier fall into deep thought for a moment. What was going on?

"Oh, right, have you checked Furina's room?" Xavier suddenly thought of a very important clue.

Hu Tao raised her hand and said, "We've already checked it, but it was very tidy, not like there had been a struggle. This indicates that Furina's disappearance probably didn't happen in the room."

"Then the last time we saw Furina was..."

Xavier suddenly remembered that the last time he saw Furina was after he had finished inspecting the rooms.

He had thought Furina had returned to her room, but now it seemed that might not be the case.

"Crack!"

Just as everyone was thinking, thunder rose in the sky.

The loud thunder startled Xiangling.

"Help! Why is it thundering again!"

Not only was it thundering, but soon after, a torrential rain began to fall.

It was already an early winter night, and after the rain, it became even colder.

"Crack!"

Dazzling lightning illuminated the inside of the castle.

And in that brief flash, a figure appeared on the wall.

"Ah? What's that? There's really something, isn't there!"

Bennett pointed at the reflection on the wall; it looked exactly like a person, and not one who had come with them.

When the lightning flashed again, everyone turned to look and found that there really was a reflection.

"Cough, cough..."

A hoarse cough sounded, causing everyone to involuntarily take two steps back.

Itto shouted loudly, "It's over, it's over! There really are vampires here! He's here to suck our blood!"

"I knew this place was strange. Let's get out of here quickly!"

Xingqiu pulled Chongyun, unwilling to stay there any longer.

Chongyun, on the other hand, shouted loudly at the figure, "Who are you!"

"Heh heh, I didn't expect some of you not to be afraid of me."

The strange figure slowly walked towards the crowd, leaning on a cane.

Xiangling was so scared that he had already closed his eyes.

Fischl was also afraid, but didn't dare to show it, shrinking into the crowd.

"Bad guy, Klee is going to use Bouncy Bombs!"

Klee was truly fearless, saying so as he was about to take the bomb out of his backpack.

Fortunately, at the critical moment, Xavier stopped him.

"Hmm? This guy doesn't seem to be a vampire."

Hu Tao, who always dealt with dead people and ghosts, was naturally not afraid of these things, and he saw the strangeness of the other party.

"Even if he's not a vampire, he could be a soul collector. I heard that people always die in these old castles."

"Those dead souls will look for scapegoats here and then reincarnate!"

Kaveh was also trembling with fear.

Alhaitham asked in confusion, "May I ask where you heard that? Old castles might have souls, but Western folklore doesn't have the concept of a scapegoat."

"Damn it, at a time like this, does it matter if he's a scapegoat? The important thing is that he's here to claim our lives!"

Alhaitham stopped bothering with Kaveh and stared intently at the Old Man in front of him.

"I remember one of the rules was that if we saw anyone other than ourselves, we shouldn't be afraid, as they would be staff."

"So, if I'm not mistaken, you're a staff member, aren't you?"

The Old Man was a bit surprised to see Alhaitham guess the answer so quickly.

"Oh? This young man is very smart. I am indeed a staff member. I thought you would be wary of me for a long time."

"What? You're a staff member!"

Itto was furious after hearing this, "Hey, why are you running out in the middle of the night to scare us for no reason? I thought you were some kind of monster!"

The Old Man walked up to Itto, leaning on his cane, and shone the kerosene lamp on him.

"Young man, with all due respect, I think you look more like a so-called monster than I do."

"You!"

Itto was very angry but speechless, because he was indeed a demon, but there was a difference between demons, alright?

His demon was a race, not a ghost!

"Ahem, Old Man, why are you here in the middle of the night instead of resting? You're really going to scare us to death."

Xingqiu breathed a sigh of relief, and was also very curious.

The Old Man chuckled, "The first rule should have mentioned it, right? This castle has a long history, so many things need maintenance."

"For your usual experience, we won't come to inspect and maintain during the day; we only appear at night."

Xavier was a little speechless. What kind of strange rule was this?

Xavier suddenly thought of something very important, so he asked the Old Man.

"Oh, right, Grandpa, have you seen a girl with white hair and blue clothes?"

"She's very pretty, just a bit timid, and sometimes says and does strange things..."

Xavier described all of Furina's characteristics in great detail.

After listening, the Old Man shook his head and said, "I really haven't seen her. Has she disappeared?"

"It seems so for now," Xavier sighed.

The Old Man paced back and forth, leaning on his cane, then said with a serious expression, "From your situation, you must have violated the rules announced earlier, right?"

"Crack!"

Just then, lightning flashed, and the white lightning illuminated the Old Man's face, making him look pale and terrifying.

"Gulp!"

Xiangling swallowed, stammering, "A-are those rules all true?"

The Old Man held up the kerosene lamp to illuminate his face and smiled eerily, "Do you think we were joking when we told you the rules?"

Everyone couldn't help but shiver after hearing this, especially Xiangling, who had already buried himself in Shenhe's arms.

"If I'm not mistaken, your companion must have violated a certain rule."

"Violating a rule may not necessarily lead to danger, but encountering danger definitely means a rule has been violated!"
