Thalia's POV

Sweet beads slicked down my face as I stared at the needles, my hands trembling beneath the table.

"Are they meant for me?" My voice cracked.

But Caius' didn't respond.

He was taking I'm my expression as though that was some sort of treatment he was offering to me. Nyra hadn't said anything, but she'd stopped sipping from th coffee.

"I don't want to go back into that lane…" I muttered.

He just watched me.

I wasn't afraid it needles, and it wasn't about the pain from the tips getting in close contact with my skin. It was about the effect it would bring to me. One of the pants memories he made me fall into, the rogue wolves had used those kind of needles on me.

This moment, I imagined they had life and will of their own, and that all they were wanted was to pierce into me again, forcefully bringing those memories to my thoughts like an invasion.

I got on my feet. "I… I don't want to…"

I got to the door, but I didn't touch the knob.
