Chapter 7 - Lila, The Apple Girl: Part two

"Heh, kid courting death." A soldier rushed, screaming at Damien.

Slap

Damien instantly slapped the soldier who came rushing towards him and quickly grabbed the soldier's sword.

"Oii, give that back!" the soldier hissed at Damien like a snake who got beaten by a man.

"You want this right?" Damien held the sword admiring it. "Come and get it."

The soldier who was knocked out by Damien woke up and stood. Inside his eyes fire like coal was burning from anger: "Boy, you really know how to get into other people's business."

"Don't you know who we are? We are the soldiers of Rainheart."

Both soldiers regrouped and stood for a while looking at Damien. Even though they were slacking off, they're still soldiers. Not even a high family would offend them, but this boy not just offended them, even beaten them at some level. And the audacity to hold a soldier's sword—it can even be considered a serious crime for a commoner.

Lila, stunned by this scene, still in shock, looked at the boy who was standing proudly, smiling. His face had no fear but was filled with confidence. She forgot all of her pain and tried to get up, brushes covered in dust and sand. It even made standing up extremely more painful than it is. But she thought to herself:

"Nobody came to save me, but this boy… ughh."

Intense pain came from her leg, her body refusing to stand still. But she looked at them again.

Damien looked at them with sharp eyes. He could in no way take them both at the same time. Just because they are slackers, they're still hard-trained soldiers. Damien smiled and tied the sword to his belt: "Yeh, I know, that's why I'm going to do this."

"Do what?" Soldiers looked at each other laughing.

Bang

Damien kicked a soldier between his legs and suddenly took off running towards Lila.

"Aww, aww, aww, get that busted!"The soldier screamed in pain, jumping on one spot. His eyes almost popped out from this attack.

Lila, who was trying to get up, got dumbfounded by this, and stunned by Damien who was rushing towards her.

"Ohh—""What?" In an instant she was in that boy's hand.

"Ahhhhhhh, let me go, let me go!" she screamed, surprised, trying to get down.

"Look, I'm trying to help, would you quit trying to scream?" Damien said hurriedly, looking at his back. One soldier was still chasing him, the other one still screaming. His instincts were running off like crazy. As a hunter, he could tell if any danger was near him.And running was just lightwork for him.

..........

"He ran, he ran, I don't know how fast he ran carrying me."

"His smell, what was his scent?"

"How could I ever forget his smell?"

"Like a blossomed flower."

"Wait, where am I?"

Lila woke up by raindrops that dropped on her face. Just as she opened her eyes, she only saw him. That dark hair that had fallen towards his face, only difference is it's kind of wet—did he drown?

They sat down; he was laying his back to the rusty old wall. She began to look around. It seemed like evening, everywhere began to get dark. She looked at him again. His eyes were closed, facing down, and he seemed like in a deep sleep, still holding her tightly onto his chest.

Lila felt a warmth that she never felt besides her mother. This boy didn't even know her name, but was still holding her like a flower that couldn't be let go. The rain poured slowly, small raindrops fell down from his face to her. She stared at him, tightening herself. His pure, snow-like white face, unusual dark hair.

"Who are you, and why did you save me?" she muttered.

Still wrapped around his arms, Lila slowly raised her left hand and touched this boy's face like a feather. She didn't know who this boy was or why he saved her. She only felt his arms holding her tightly, even protecting her from uncontrollable rain and wind.

His eyes opened suddenly.Lila, stunned, quickly took her hand away.

"His eyes, his blue eyes." She didn't even speak a word, just stared at his eyes.

"You woke up, huh?" the boy spoke, greeting her with a smile that was as mesmerizing as his blue eyes. Still, Lila didn't bother to say a word.

"Your head was bleeding, so I wrapped it using my shirt. It should stop the bleeding for now," he said, looking at Lila's head. His voice was filled with concern. Lila could clearly see one side of his shirt was torn apart, revealing his skin. He was clearly cold from this, but he was still worried about her wounds.

"Who are you?" Lila finally spoke, breaking the silence. Her face began to redden up, so she hid her face by holding him tightly.

"I'm Damien, and you're—""I'm… no… my name is Lila."

Damien, first time talking to a woman. "Why is she stuttering, maybe she's scared," he thought to himself. Even though he saved her from those damn soldiers, he practically kidnapped her to a dark alley.

"Don't be scared Lila, I'm gonna take you home," Damien said while getting up and grabbing her by her waist.

"What… what are you doing?" Lila almost screamed again, her reddened face looking at Damien from embarrassment. In her whole life nobody touched her like this.

"Are you cold? Your face is red like an apple," Damien asked smiling. Honestly, he didn't know, he thought it was because they were out until evening in the alleyway.

"You… fine." Lila tried to hide her face again, but it was no use. Her beautiful chubby-like red face already exposed to him.

"You can't clearly walk, so I'm going to carry you again. Just show me the way. You can do that, right?" Damien spoke again while carrying Lila in his both hands and moving forward.

Lila hid her face again on Damien's chest, slowly muttering.

"Okay."
