Illusion.

The ability to ensnare the mind of anyone in a flawless, self-contained world. It was the most dangerous kind of psychic attack. It didn't harm the body directly, but by fooling the senses, it allowed the attacker to neutralize a target without a fight.

Levi knew the move well; it was a common, highly refined skill in the world of the novel, reserved for the elite sorcerers.

The man hadn't actually sliced Levi into pieces. Instead, he had convinced Levi'sq mind that his head, arms, legs, and waist were separated and disconnected.

The result, however, was just as effective as a physical attack. His brain, accepting the illusion as reality, had shut down the communication lines to his limbs. His body was now a broken puppet, his senses cut off from his consciousness.
