Chapter 30 - Ch-30: Trial (4)

As soon as Victor killed the Titan Bee Monster, a row of text appeared in front of him which surprised him.

[Ding Dong]

[You have completed a hidden quest]

[You have completed the quest 'First Skill, First Kill']

[First Skill, First Kill]

[Description: Use a skill to kill enemies above multiple tiers higher than yours]

[Reward: Thousand Face Mask]

Swoosh

Victor looked at the white face mask which had only two holes for the eyes that appeared directly in his hand. He looked around and saw that everyone was fighting for their lives and the Titan Bees were far away from him.

He quickly took advantage and activated his Akasha Eye to see the details of the mask.

[Thousand Face Mask]

[Rank: Legendary]

[Type: Bounded Artifact]

[Description: A mask which can copy appearance of a person user killed or defeated in a fight or create an entirely new look of a person regardless of humans or other races in human form. It copies everything from voice, scent, and even the memories of the person and lets the user see it. When put on the face it directly combines with the face and acts like extra skin. Unless attacked on the face by a powerful technique and greatly injured, the disguise won't be undone. As it's bounded, it can be summoned back to the user from anywhere]

'Legendary' Victor's eyes dilated and he took a deep breath. The concept of Legendary Rank items was that they were greater than SSS rank items, and items were rarer than techniques. Legendary items were so rare that only a handful were present in the lower and middle floors, and even in the upper floors they were rare

'I better use it, who knows what might happen next,' Victor thought as he hurriedly put the mask on his face. It dissolved into his skin, and when he imagined a random face, his appearance changed instantly. His silver hair turned black, his handsome face shifted into an average one, and his body became a bit more muscular and slightly taller.

"Hah, not bad," Victor muttered, surprised as he touched his body and face. Even his voice sounded a bit thicker.

Buzz

Victor looked up and saw dozens of Titan Bees speeding toward him, their killing intent locking onto him. He glanced at the corpses and caught the scent of some strange odor rising from them—and from his own body as well.

"Huh, this must be some kind of scent they release after dying to mark the target who killed them," Victor muttered. He remained calm, now that he had powerful skills to defend himself and even kill the monsters.

"Moonlight Sword Art - Second Form - Moon Steps," Victor muttered as soon as he saw hundreds of bees pointing their stingers at him from all angles, encircling him before shooting toward him. His body was instantly covered by moonlight, and he moved out of their trajectory in the blink of an eye, causing several bees to crash into each other.

"Moonlight Sword Art - Third Form - Multiple Indivisible Moon Strikes," Victor muttered again, moving out of their encirclement and taking advantage of their distraction. He launched several white sword slashes toward them.

Swoosh Swoosh

The bees sensed the incoming strikes and tried to dodge, but realized they couldn't. Their eyes turned red with fury.

Screech Screech

A red mist left their bodies as they were sliced into pieces by the strikes.

"Hmm?" Victor raised an eyebrow when he noticed an even more pungent smell envelop the area. The group of Titan Bees that had been fighting turned their eyes toward him, glowing red with rage. Half of each group immediately flew in his direction, and even more Titan Bees were lured out of the portals, all charging at him with killing intent.

"Heh, is it too late to say sorry?" Victor laughed nervously as beads of sweat rolled down his forehead. Then his eyes hardened, and he looked at the bees coldly.

"Hey, where are they headed?"

"What? Why are all of the Titan Bees going toward that guy?"

"Tsk, looks like he provoked them by killing too many. He probably doesn't know—if you kill one bee, two will come, and they keep increasing until the entire swarm is gone. Anyway, good for us; the pressure decreased."

The other people who saw the bees heading toward Victor looked amused, and some were relieved as the pressure they were facing decreased significantly.

"Moonlight Sword Art - First Form - Quick Slash,"

"Moonlight Sword Art - Second Form - Moon Steps,"

"Moonlight Sword Art - Third Form - Multiple Indivisible Moon Strikes."

For the next hour, Victor kept launching attack after attack, and hundreds of bees littered the ground around him. By the end of the first hour, all the bees had left everyone else and were fully engaged with Victor.

"Huff... huff..." Victor panted by the end of the fight while everyone looked at him as if he were some kind of monster.

"Damn, just what kind of talent is this? He killed at least a few hundred while I could barely kill a few dozen, and they were higher ranked than me," said someone, looking at Victor in disbelief.

"Tsk, I've seen battles where lower-tier fighters kill high-tier enemies, but those were rankers, not Tier 0," said another, clicking their tongue.

"Damn, how high is his stamina anyway?" someone asked.

"His bloodline should at least be SS rank," another said. When they heard this, envious looks turned toward Victor; some were greedy to get him to join their faction, while others harbored malicious intent to kill him while he was weakened.

Then everyone's eyes widened as they looked at a new row of text.

[Ding Dong]

[Trail has been completed]

[It has been detected by Records that someone slaughtered all the monsters before the time ran out]

[Calculating Rewards]

[Distributing Reward]

[Advancement by 40 Levels has been granted to the person with the highest kill]

"What? Directly increase Level by 40?" one of them exclaimed as everyone sucked in a cold breath, looking at Victor with envy and jealousy.

"Even if some were low-tier, it would save years of effort—and not to mention if a high-tier person got this reward," another said, clicking his tongue.

"Huh, just that?" one man exclaimed when he saw another approaching Victor with a dagger in his hand. Some of them smirked, realizing what he was planning to do, while others hesitated to interfere.

"Huff... huff... damn, I am too exhausted," Victor muttered, his face turning ugly as he saw the man sprint toward him.

"Hey, bro, is it really necessary to kill me? I'm just another weak person," Victor asked.

"Hah, weak my ass. You just happen to be a high ranker. This is the best chance to kill you, and in the future I can claim that I killed a powerful ranker. Moreover, I have a quest assigned by the Records to kill a ranker higher tier than me, and this is my best chance without risking anything," the man said with a smug smile.
