Chapter 84 - Mugs, Suits, and Military Lies

Sgt. Seth filled out the paperwork on his desk in his office with his pen. Dreading having to call Logan's parents about their son's death.

After hearing a knock, Sgt. Seth opened the door.

Tara said, "Axel Tusk is here. High-ranking government official."

Sgt. Seth replied, "Alright bring him in."

Sgt. Seth left the door open and sat on his chair behind his desk.

After a few minutes, Axel entered, in classic style black suit and sat in the leather chair in front of Sgt. Seth. Pictures of Sgt. Seth's wartime past adorned on the walls. Sgt. Seth hoped, history won't repeat itself and this war would be different. He leaned back in chair, as he drank his coffee from his mug.

Axel said, "Lolita sent me. You have four weeks to train your recruits."

Sgt. Seth spat out his coffee and shrieked, "Four weeks? That's not enough! I need at least ten weeks. Most recruits can't even shoot."

Axel huffed, "That's all the time Lolita allows. The war must go as plan."

Seth's fist slammed the oak desk so hard the papers fluttered to the floor. "So, you want me to send raw recruits into a meat grinder?"

Axel straightened his lapels, voice cold. "Cascadia's army is on our flank. I'll send the deployment dates."

Axel's polished shoes clicked away. Sgt. Seth slumped into his chair. Anger clawed at his calmness. The war machine was moving, and he was being forced to feed it raw, untested soldiers.
