The clubroom was teetering on the edge of chaos, and Shuo finally had to step in.
"Alright, Akeno, that's enough. Let's not pour any more oil on the fire."
He turned to Rias, his tone shifting from playful to earnest. "Rias, I need a favor. Can you help sort out Asia's paperwork and let her join the Occult Research Club? I'd owe you one—seriously. And I promise, I'll return the favor with something big soon."
Rias shot him a look—half annoyed, half resigned. "Fine, since you're asking so nicely. And as your friend, how could I say no?"
Shuo could tell she wasn't thrilled. Who would be, watching two rare talents slip through her fingers? Still, he didn't dwell on it.
"Alright, I'll leave Asia in your care. I've got other things to handle, so I'll head out for now."
He lingered a little longer, chatting with Rias, Akeno, and the rest. When he saw Asia and Koneko getting along, he finally excused himself.
Rias's desperation to recruit Asia was a dead giveaway—her family's marriage pressure must be closing in. The "turkey" was coming, which meant the three-faction summit couldn't be far off. If he wanted to keep up, he needed to get stronger, fast.
Leaving the Occult Research Club behind, Shuo headed straight for the Student Council.
Inside, he found every member present—and every single one a knockout. Tsubaki Shinra, Momo Hanakai, Reya Kusaka, Tsubasa Yura, Ruruko Nimura, Tomoe Meguri. The world of DxD was almost unfair when it came to beautiful girls.
"Nangong-kun? Now this is a surprise. I thought you only showed up here if I personally dragged you in."
Sona Sitri looked up from her paperwork, her eyes carrying just a hint of wounded pride. She'd invited him plenty of times before, but he'd always managed to dodge.
Shuo gave a sheepish grin. "Come on, President Sona, don't tease me. I apologize for all those broken promises!"
Sona looked for all the world like a neglected housewife, and Shuo felt a chill run down his spine. He quickly waved his hands in surrender.
"Nangong-kun!" Reya, Tsubasa, and Tomoe were clearly surprised—and just as clearly delighted—to see him.
Sona gestured around. "No need for introductions with Tsubaki, Reya, Tomoe, and Tsubasa—you already know them." She glanced at Tomoe, who was practically vibrating with excitement, then at Reya, whose cheeks were tinged pink.
"Shuo-senpai~" Tomoe wasted no time hurrying to his side, eyes shining with admiration. The memory of his overwhelming victory over her and Kiba was still fresh in her mind.
Tsubasa greeted him with her trademark boldness—a wide, easy smile. She was a second-year, a master of hand-to-hand combat, and, unlike the reserved Koneko, wore her wild side on her sleeve. Tragically, she and Koneko shared one thing: both were still waiting on certain… physical developments.
Sona continued the introductions. "This is Ruruko Nimura, same class as Koneko, Pawn rank. And Momo Hanakai, Bishop."
She nodded toward a brown-haired girl with twin tails and a striking white-haired beauty. Both looked a little shy, but their voices were sweet as honey.
"Hello, Shuo-senpai," they chimed in unison.
Shuo's gaze lingered appreciatively. Both girls were undeniably attractive—Ruruko was slender, Momo more voluptuous. Compared to Koneko, they were practically models.
With the introductions done, Sona stepped back. Whether they got along was up to them now.
Shuo didn't waste time. He turned to Sona, getting straight to business. "President Sona, I'm here to honor our agreement. You said if you could defeat me, I'd join your peerage. So, today, I'm here to settle that score."
His words landed like thunder. The girls stared, stunned, as if lightning had just struck the room. But a few of them—Tsubaki especially—looked positively thrilled at the prospect.
Tsubasa's eyes sparkled with excitement. "This is awesome! I love guys like Shuo! President, look at Tsubaki—she's raring to go! Let's do this!"
Sona sighed, rubbing her temples. "Tsubasa, even if you like wild guys, do you have to be so… obvious? Aren't you worried about scaring Shuo off?"
Tsubasa paused, then turned to Shuo, suddenly earnest. "Would that scare you, Shuo-kun?"
Shuo grinned. "Not at all. Honestly, I like your confidence, Tsubasa. It's refreshing."
Tsubasa beamed. "Knew it! We're a perfect match!"
The rest of the council exchanged looks—some amused, some exasperated. Sona, after a moment's thought, nodded. "Alright, I accept. If Tsubaki wins, I get a powerful new peerage member. If not, well, at least Tsubaki gets her wish."
The group moved to a secluded spot behind the school, just in case. Sona and Tsubaki set up a sturdy barrier—no sense risking collateral damage.
Just as Shuo was stretching, the system chimed in:
Ding! Sign-in mission detected: Momo Hanakai. Mission level: White. Condition: Defeat.
Ding! Sign-in mission detected: Ruruko Nimura. Mission level: White. Condition: Defeat.
He glanced at the two girls, a plan already forming.
Sona caught his look. "What's up, Shuo? Why are you looking at Momo and Ruruko?"
Both girls blushed, fidgeting with their skirts.
Shuo smiled. "Actually, why don't all three of you come at me together? I know it sounds cocky, but trust me—my strength is on a whole different level."
Sona's eyes widened behind her glasses, then narrowed in intrigue. "Confident, aren't you? Fine—Momo, Ruruko, Tsubaki, you're all in. Let's see what you've got."
Shuo's eyes gleamed with anticipation. "Let's get started."
The three girls took their positions, the air crackling with tension.
