Sirzechs stared at Azazel, still battered and disheveled from the duel.
"You actually managed to push him this far…"
He shook his head, a smile creeping onto his face.
"I thought with the Star Holy Sword, you'd last a few exchanges at best. Never expected you'd take it this far, Shuo. You keep surprising me."
The more Sirzechs saw of his sister's fiancé, the more satisfied he became.
Meanwhile, Azazel grimaced, inspecting his wounds. He hadn't expected to get wrecked so badly—he'd underestimated Shuo and hadn't even used his full strength.
"If Shemhaza hears about this, I'll never live it down…"
He sighed, steeling himself.
"Guess I can't hold back anymore. Time to show what I'm really made of."
Azazel's aura flared, the pressure of his full magical power rolling out in waves. Shuo felt it instantly—a surge of strength that made the air buzz.
So he really was holding back before… There's still a gap between me and these top-tier legends.
But with the mission complete, sticking around for a real fight was just asking for trouble.
Shuo flashed a mischievous grin.
"I'm out—I surrender!"
Azazel froze, dumbfounded.
"You… You're surrendering? Now?!"
He'd just powered up, ready to turn the tables, and Shuo was tapping out?
Shuo shrugged, utterly shameless.
"Yep! This was just a friendly match. Now that you're going all out, I don't stand a chance. Why keep fighting?"
He shot Azazel a cheeky smile.
"I'm not stupid. I already gave you a good beating—I'm not sticking around for payback. Besides, you've seen what I can do, right?"
His words echoed across the battlefield, reaching every spectator. Silence fell—a stunned, incredulous hush.
No one expected Shuo to just… quit. Even Azazel was still processing.
Then, Serafall burst out laughing, her twin-tails whipping as she doubled over.
"Ahahahaha! I can't believe it! The great Azazel, outfoxed by a kid! I'm telling everyone—I'll make sure the whole Underworld hears about this!"
Even Sona, usually reserved, struggled to hold back a smile. The rest of the girls snickered, unable to hide their amusement.
Azazel just stood there, looking utterly defeated. When he finally managed to speak, he groaned,
"You little brat… You play dirty."
Shuo didn't even blink, teleporting back to the ground as the two Maou dropped the barrier. The crowd rushed in, eyes wide at the devastation—the battlefield was a wasteland.
Serafall grinned, poking fun at Azazel's sorry state.
"Wow, Azazel, never thought I'd see you like this."
Azazel could only sigh, resigned.
Once the field was restored, everyone headed home via magic circle. As they traveled, Shuo triggered the system's Black Tier reward for defeating Azazel.
"Ding! Congratulations, Host—Black Tier reward unlocked: [Mystic Eyes of Death Perception]."
Shuo's eyes lit up.
No way… The Mystic Eyes of Death Perception—Ryougi Shiki's legendary power.
One of the most terrifying causality weapons in fiction.
[Mystic Eyes of Death Perception]:
All things return to the Root. What is born must die. With these eyes, the user can see the death lines and death points of all things. Tracing a death line inflicts damage that cannot be blocked or healed—strike true, and even gods will fall.
Shiki's classic line echoed in his mind:
"If it's alive, even a god—I'll kill it for you."
Shuo grinned. He had Madara's Rinnegan, but this was on another level. From now on, even the most stubborn enemies weren't safe—if he could see and break their death lines, it was game over.
Of course, the Mystic Eyes had limits—they were useless against beings above a certain life tier, and he'd need to get up close. But the potential was absurd.
He plucked a fresh flower, switched to Mystic Eyes mode. Red lines appeared across the petals, vivid and ominous. Shuo traced a finger along one—instantly, the flower withered, collapsing in his hand.
He glanced around. Walls, people, everything—he could see their death lines.
A shiver ran down his spine.
Jackpot.
Back at home, Azazel listened as Rias and the others explained Kokabiel's plot in Kuoh Town. He apologized, regret clear in his voice.
But when Yuuto Kiba's new Balance Breaker—the Holy Demonic Sword—came up, Azazel's eyes sparkled with interest.
"A fusion of holy and demonic power… Incredible. I'd love to meet Kiba and see his Sacred Gear up close!"
After some discussion, Grayfia and Evelyn returned to the Underworld. Sirzechs wanted to stay and chat with Shuo all night, but with no spare rooms—and Azazel keen to study Kiba's Sacred Gear—he ended up heading to Kiba's house with Azazel.
The real headache was Serafall, who flatly refused to return to the Underworld. Sona looked exasperated.
Serafall clung to Shuo, eyes gleaming.
"He promised to film a magical girl video with me, so I'm definitely staying!"
In the end, Serafall got her way.
She spun around, grabbing Shuo's arm and bouncing with excitement.
"Come on, let's shoot the magical girl video! Hurry!"
