Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: Secret Letter

All of us turned to look at the door.

Then the knock came again, brisk and formal. Natasha crossed the room immediately, opening the door in a sharp motion.

A palace maid stood in the hallway, her head bowed low, both hands presenting a silver tray. Silver's gaze rested in a single folded letter, sealed with plain wax in it.

"For Her Majesty, the Crown Princess," the maid said softly. Her eyes never rose above the floor.

Silver tilted her head. "A letter? From whom?"

"The sender did not say, Your Majesty. Only that it was urgent."

Natasha's brows knitted. "Suspicious. No crest? No signet? No sender's name?"

Silver raised her hand to silence Natasha. "Leave it," she commanded. It's not rare to receive letters without sender in the Spring Mansion. Some decides not to put their name on it in a case that the content would offend the receiver.

The maid bowed again, handing the tray to Natasha, and retreated with silent steps.
