Chapter 110 - Chips At The Edge

Currently, while Mercury-class battleships and Venus-class battleships have completely upgraded their thrusters with the introduction of zero fiber, and their armor has also seen some performance improvements, their weapon systems still rely on old-fashioned gunpowder guns and autocannons. Even their most powerful offensive method is merely an interstellar missile that uses chemical fuel as a propellant.

Their radar systems could barely manage to provide early warnings for targets with larger radar cross-sections. They couldn't detect tiny bullets or electromagnetic cannon projectiles at all, let alone effectively intercept them.

Without sufficiently advanced radar systems, interception systems are out of the question. Without interception systems, battleships can only rely on their armor to withstand attacks during combat.
