Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Poor Child!

Unfortunately, after thinking over and over, he couldn't come up with a good solution.

But there's no rush, he can stay calm.

Thinking of this, he displayed an air of righteousness and declared, "The innocent will prove themselves. I will go with you."

While speaking, he frantically made eye signals to the dazed and terrified Zhang Lanxiang and the others, but due to angle issues, no one noticed.

Squatting, Yi Chichi saw it clearly. As Zhang JianShe and the others were about to take people away, she timidly spoke, "Uncle Zhang, wait a moment."

Zhang JianShe, about to leave, turned his head when he heard her voice.

Seeing her squatting on the ground with imploring eyes looking at him, her pale thin face and big eyes filled with admiration, his gaze softened a bit.

"Chichi, did you call uncle for something?"

Yi Chichi stood up, under Yi Yong's threatening gaze that seemed murderous, and handed over the paper she was holding, "My dad has severed ties with me. I would like to ask Uncle to be a witness and help me stamp it!"

As she spoke, she sniffed, her eyes still brimming with tears from crying, looking very pitiful.

Zhang JianShe squinted his eyes, reached out to take the severance document and started reading.

It was shocking enough not to see anything, and seeing it made the self-proclaimed heartless Zhang JianShe laugh angrily.

"Yi Yong, are you really Chichi's real father?"

He'd seen fathers who treated their daughters poorly, but no one like Yi Yong who would crush his daughter to death.

Zi Shuyu, oh Zi Shuyu, just how blind were you to choose such a duplicitous and ruthless man.

Risking your own life and almost losing your daughter's life as well.

Yi Yong snorted, "She's not filial."

Zhang JianShe looked at Yi Chichi, she replied with a helpless bitter smile, "I don't know what is considered filial."

"Since my mom passed away, I haven't had a full meal, haven't worn new clothes... Yi Jing goes to school, I stay home and take care of Yi Jian Country and Yi Ling, also doing laundry and cooking... Later, when I finally managed to go to school and got into the embroidery factory on my own merit, my dad forced me to give up my job and replace Yi Jing to go to the countryside..."

She waved her hand, looking exhausted as she bowed to Zhang JianShe.

"Uncle, for the sake of my mom growing up with you, can you help me with this?"

"Director Zhang, just help Chichi, this child is pitiful!"

Madam Liu and others helped persuade.

Zhang JianShe didn't intend to refuse anyway, and upon hearing, naturally went with the flow.

Just as well, the factory director and others who received the news also arrived.

So, under the eyes of everyone, Yi Chichi got a bunch of factory leaders to witness, and the severance document got additional signatures from the factory director, deputy director, and Zhang JianShe.

Yi Yong and his wife were taken away by the Revolutionary Committee members, while Yi Jing and others followed in fear and uncertainty.

Aunt Lanhua and Granny Zhang, seeking the truth, followed after a brief consideration.

Soon, the crowd dispersed.

In the previously crowded hallway, only Yi Chichi and Madam Liu and several women who didn't have to go to work were left.

Yi Chichi pitifully squatted on the ground, sorting out some loosened luggage, with ragged clothes leaving Madam Liu and others stunned.

"Are these the clothes they prepared for you?"

Picking up a shirt full of patches and obviously much too small, Aunt Guihua was shocked.

Yi Chichi acknowledged, without complaint, and in good spirits said, "From now on, I have nothing to do with them. Once I earn money in the countryside, I can save up to buy cloth tickets and make new clothes."

Her eyes showed a smile, her cheerful tone speaking of expectations for the future.

Madam Liu and others, however, imagined she was pretending to be strong, and with distress, asked her, "Did they really not give you any money?"

Yi Chichi touched her pocket, pulled out four banknotes, some spare coins, and tickets for food, cloth, and industry.

"Yesterday Yi Jian Country's mom gave me fifty; I bought braised pork for the doctor and them, and this is what's left."

"That's too little, useless."

Glancing at the room with its door wide open, Madam Liu gave her advice, "Quickly, while Yi Yong and the others aren't here, pack up some things to take with you."

Yi Chichi was startled, seemingly not catching on.

Aunt Guihua, with an impatient temper, said impatiently upon hearing, "Don't be stunned, you said it yourself, the ties are severed, take something as compensation."

"Take whatever you want, we'll watch you take it."

This was to mean they'd stand as witnesses for her.

Yi Chichi was suddenly moved, tears welled up in her eyes, "Aunt, Madam, you're really good, thank you!"

"Don't thank us, quickly take your stuff and go."

So, Yi Chichi ran into the room, and under their gaze took big items like quilts and cotton-padded jackets she had prepared before.

Zhang Lanxiang's two sets of clothes, seventy to eighty percent new, and a pair of new shoes Yi Jing hadn't worn.

Along with some rice, noodles, and food supplies.

Yes, she also took a small iron pot used on the coal stove.

"What about the money? Aren't you taking some money and tickets?"

She had long hidden them securely on her person.

But couldn't say that.

So, Yi Chichi looked dazed, "I don't know where they keep the money and tickets."

She couldn't touch Yi Yong's embezzled money and Xiao Huangyu's Treasure Bracelet.

It needs to be left for the Revolutionary Committee.

"Aren't you going to try finding them?"

"No."

She shook her head. Under Madam Liu's and others' gaze as if looking at a fool, she packed up, greeted them a few words, locked up the Yi Family's door, and left.

Madam Liu saw her carrying a lot and asked, "How are you going to take so many things away?"

"Send them by post."

The post office was nearby, not far away, but it was a bit tough for Yi Chichi's frail figure to carry them over.

So, after discussing it among themselves, the women decided to help her carry the things to the post office.

They even wrapped some pancakes and boiled eggs from home for her to take.

For this, Yi Chichi expressed refusal.

But without success, she could only offer to buy them with money.

Otherwise, she'd rather not have them.

She even confidently stated that they weren't well-off either, and she wouldn't eat with a peace of mind.

The women couldn't argue with her and agreed to her proposal.

Then, Yi Chichi bought pancakes and boiled eggs from them at a price lower than market value.

After sending the stuff from the post office, Yi Chichi boarded the tram heading to the station amidst Madam Liu's reminders to be careful.

She arrived at the train station at 11:30 in the morning.

The station was bustling with people, mostly young people heading to the countryside and their families saying goodbye.

It was now late September 1970, and Lincheng had a special train for young people going to Hei Province.

Yi Chichi registered at the young people's post at the station, received a big red flower to wear on her chest, and followed the group onto the platform with her luggage and collective train ticket.

The special train started at 1:15 in the afternoon.

The special train for young people traveled north, leaving behind Lincheng, the city where the original owner was born and raised, until it disappeared.

Yi Chichi withdrew her gaze, finding that her carriage was full of women.

Upon inquiry, she learned that the special train for young people divided passengers by gender, and meals were provided on board.

Originally worried about food, upon learning meals were provided, Yi Chichi's heart was completely at ease.

There was too little time for too many things to do—she had reached her limit.

And that was thanks to hypnosis; otherwise, it wouldn't have gone so smoothly.

She genuinely couldn't attend to food.

Now it was fine; she didn't have to worry about meals anymore.
