Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Home Invasion Murder

He Qi'an walked to the police car, ignoring the two people behind him, as the recorded conversation he just heard replayed in his mind.

When Mao Hong mentioned it, his first reaction was that someone had intentionally filed a false report.

There had been many people who deliberately called 110 to file false police reports, but due to legal regulations, as soon as someone called the police, they had to dispatch officers, causing quite a headache for everyone at the station.

Although those who made false reports were punished afterward, some people still acted lawlessly, blatantly ignoring the law and openly challenging public officials.

The three arrived at the police car. Zhang Ming swiftly got into the driver's seat. "I'll drive tonight!"

Li He glanced at the captain, sensed the coldness from him, and immediately turned to sit in the back seat.

When he saw the captain heading to the front passenger seat, Zhang Ming's face froze, and he whispered, "Or... do you want to drive?"

Li He crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow, "No, I won't fight you for it tonight. Just drive safely!"

"Bang!"

The car door closed, and Zhang Ming, feeling the presence next to him, regretted his decision. He had chosen to drive just to avoid sitting with the captain. Why was the captain in the front passenger seat today!

"Let's go," He Qi'an said expressionlessly, looking straight ahead.

"Oh, okay." Zhang Ming immediately started the car and drove toward Jinshan District.

At this time, Ai Lin had just finished her bath, washing away the day's fatigue, chatting with her boyfriend while applying a face mask.

She checked her food delivery order; it would arrive in ten minutes!

"Honey, what are you doing? Why aren't you talking?"

Her boyfriend's voice came through the phone.

Ai Lin applied the mask, sat down, "Applying a face mask."

"Oh, are you going to sleep after that?"

"I haven't eaten yet; I ordered some spicy hotpot, it'll be here in ten minutes."

Saying this, Ai Lin recalled what Lin Xiaoyan had said when she got off work, and suddenly burst into laughter.

"What's making you laugh? Watching something funny on TV?"

Ai Lin lightly touched the mask, holding back laughter, "No, I just remembered a part-time girl from our company when I got off work tonight.

She told me not to order delivery, saying something about delivery guys getting unbalanced on rainy days and possibly breaking in to kill."

"Hahahaha..."

Her boyfriend's laughter echoed through the phone, and Ai Lin laughed too, quickly holding the mask to prevent it from falling off.

"But, that little girl meant well. She's nice."

Ai Lin said with a smile.

"Yes, but while I'm not home, you should be careful. When the delivery arrives, wait a moment before picking it up, okay?"

Warmth filled Ai Lin's heart at his concern, "Sure, oh, by the way, there's something else..."

Thunder rumbled outside, and large raindrops pounded the windows.

"Hello, I need to get in to deliver food!"

A man on an electric scooter, wearing a yellow delivery uniform, arrived at the community gate, drenched and a bit disheveled.

The security guard inside the guardroom was playing on his phone. He glanced up at the man, then continued gaming.

Seeing the guard's indifference, the delivery man's anger, already ignited by the heavy rain, flared again.

"Hello, could you please open the gate? I'm almost over the time limit!" the delivery man gritted his teeth and shouted.

Yet the security guard ignored him, still focused on his phone.

The delivery man took a deep breath, looking at the order time, seeing he was about to be late!

"Hey, open the gate! Open it!!!"

Still, the guard paid no heed to the delivery man.

The delivery man tightened his grip on the scooter's handle, feeling his anger peak. He also noticed a negative review coming through from the latest order on his phone.

"Damn it!!!"

The man suddenly looked up at the guardroom, furiously kicked down the scooter's stand, intending to enter.

"Beep beep..."

Suddenly, a white car appeared behind him.

The guard immediately jumped up, pressed a button, and the barrier rose slowly, while he smiled broadly at the entering resident.

The delivery man quickly got on his scooter, following the car into the community.

"Pah! What a lackey! Damn beast!"

As he passed the guard, the delivery man spat and swore loudly, quickly moving into the community.

"What did you say? Stop right there!" The guard's face turned ashen as he watched the delivery man disappear into the community.

"Let's see if you dare leave later! Just wait till I deal with you!"

The delivery man was filled with rage, with no outlet, he stopped at the base of the apartment building, rudely pulled out the delivery, held his phone, and didn't even care as the scooter crashed to the ground with a loud bang.

At this moment, he was like a beast, heading straight for the elevator.

It was already eleven-thirty, and the residential building was silent.

"Damn it, ordering delivery at midnight, are you reborn as a hungry ghost?! Ordering delivery in this downpour, am I supposed to happily deliver it to you?! All you can do is enjoy indoors while giving me bad reviews! Damn, I'm coming for you later!..."

In the elevator, the delivery man cursed endlessly, his dissatisfaction growing.

"Beep, you're overdue..."

Just as he exited the elevator, the delivery man's phone rang—he was late!

He stopped, clenched his phone, almost wanting to crush it.

He took deep breaths, marching toward apartment 1302.

"Ding dong... ding dong..."

"My delivery is here. I'll talk to you later; I'll eat and then go to bed," Ai Lin said, hearing the doorbell, to her boyfriend.

"Okay, eat up and get some rest, don't stay up late."

"Alright, alright!" Ai Lin hung up the phone.

"Ding dong... ding dong..."

The doorbell kept ringing, urging like a harbinger of doom.

Hearing the persistent doorbell, Ai Lin frowned, "Coming, just leave the delivery on the ground, thanks."

The doorbell finally stopped. Ai Lin glanced at the door and suddenly felt an urgent need, so she quickly went to the bathroom first.

Exiting the bathroom, Ai Lin peeled off her mask, patting her face while heading toward the door.

"Finally here, I'm starving..."

"Click," the door opened.

Ai Lin opened the door, a smile appeared on her face as she saw the food on the floor, she bent down to pick it up, turning to close the door.

However, a sudden resistance stopped the door from closing. Ai Lin turned and saw a tall figure...

"Ah!"

A sharp scream suddenly pierced the air, cutting off abruptly, followed by the sound of the door shutting.

"Chief, we're at Jinshan District." Zhang Ming said, looking at the Jinshan District ahead, tilting his head.

He Qi'an opened his eyes, glanced at the time. It was already eleven-thirty-seven. He looked at the community before them, his expression somber.

If what that girl said was true, then right now...

Li He had already opened the door and got out in the back. He quickly ran to the guard room, explaining the situation to the guard inside.

The guard hastily lifted the barrier, and the three drove into the community, rapidly heading towards Unit 2 as per the guard's directions.
