Chapter 21 - Chapter 20: Intimidation

Silence.

Xu Hongzhuang was immediately stunned, her beautiful eyes gazing at Chen Feng, utterly unsure of how to converse with him.

Seeing Xu Hongzhuang's astonished face, Chen Feng was silent for a moment, then waved his right hand. A tentacle appeared out of thin air, wrapped around Xu Hongzhuang's waist, and with a flick, brought her to the front of Chen Feng.

It was Xu Hongzhuang's first time lifted into the air so suddenly, causing her head to feel a bit dizzy.

The Dark Elf had at some point put away the bow and arrow, looking at Xu Hongzhuang with interest, from her neck to all the way down, not missing a single inch of skin.

The malevolent elf, whether intentionally or unintentionally, lingered longer on Xu Hongzhuang's chest, she licked the tip of her tongue, even placing her index finger on her lips.

She scented a trace of purity.

The Dark Elf hated purity, just as she hated the Forest Elf; having fallen into darkness, their favorite sacrifices at large ritual events were the Unicorns, symbols of light.

If Xu Hongzhuang were handed over to the Dark Elf, she would, in just a few hours, experience what true despair meant.

Fingers and bows and arrows, and even some other items, the Dark Elf was adept at using tools to bring nightmare experiences to the pure.

Xu Hongzhuang felt something was amiss, sensing the Dark Elf's gaze, the hairs on her body stood on end. She thought for a moment, then said: "I think this is a misunderstanding, I didn't mean to..."

"You weren't mistaken."

Chen Feng interrupted Xu Hongzhuang's explanation, saying, "Outside is dangerous, I put in a lot of effort to find this hiding place, but because of you, those efforts have vanished... In that situation just now, the best solution was to kill you, once you're dead, that big reptile's threat would be over as well."

"But it's a pity..."

Chen Feng deliberately paused: "You actually blocked that arrow, the reptile is dead, but it caused too much commotion, unfortunately, this place is no longer livable..."

Coldness.

Chen Feng's words were like an icy cave, extinguishing the flame and leaving Xu Hongzhuang's fleeting goodwill towards him completely gone.

Xu Hongzhuang couldn't understand it no matter what she thought. Wasn't this supposed to be a hero saving the beauty scene? Why wasn't the other party as good as she imagined? In this chaotic world, humans should help humans. Why is he so bad, just because his safety is threatened, he wants to kill me?

But...

Xu Hongzhuang still had to thank him for being so honest, without any flowery language, speaking brutally as if piercing the heart.

How to start?

No matter what the other party thought, after all, he did save her, her heart was very conflicted. On the one hand, she was grateful for Chen Feng's assistance, on the other hand, she couldn't accept Chen Feng's vicious image.

Judging from his appearance, he looked quite amiable, wearing a white shirt, linen pants, exuding a clean aura in every gesture, but... his heart was too cruel, too black; this point made the righteous Xu Hongzhuang utterly unable to accept it.

While Xu Hongzhuang was tangled, Chen Feng also squinted, carefully observing the other party. He sharply captured her mental activities; simple and obvious, it was apparent, this was a guileless girl, with everything she wanted to say written on her face.

This was great...

Controlling an Inferior Demon was far easier than controlling a Dark Elf, examples around him told Chen Feng a simple truth, idiots... are easier to control.

The term idiots was quite broad.

Chen Feng often used this term to describe some people.

Arbitrator.

Brave, fearless, sacrificial, dedicated, and overly pedantic.

An Arbitrator is an organization, believing in the doctrine that humanity is inherently good, wherever there were difficulties their figures could be seen, selfless, fearless, they devoted their lives to dedication, for the sake of ordinary people, they were willing to delve into insect nests, corpse tides;

This is a very magnificent behavior, for the continuation of humanity, they swore to cleanse all darkness and filth, bugs, and bad people were their targets. (They had their own standards for judging good and bad.)

Xu Hongzhuang reminded Chen Feng of the Arbitrators.

Love and hate were clear.

For those who needed help, or those who had helped them, they would give everything, yet for those labeled as Heretics and Evil Doers, they would raise a butcher knife without hesitation.

Just like Xu Hongzhuang, in a prior assault on an Earth Dragon's magnificence yet now in unexplained entanglement, it was simply like water and fire, making it impossible to consider her as the same person.

Every Arbitrator lived like an ascetic monk, ignoring love and life, dedicating everything to a noble cause in their hearts, because of this, very few in the Church were ever corrupted, not even the most enchanting demons could waver an Arbitrator's resolve.

A girl with the potential to become an Arbitrator?

With that thought, Chen Feng retracted his musings, smiling slightly gazing at the girl before him: "Alright, I think we should talk, I have to leave here soon, so I'll give you a chance to say your last words..."

"I... we... what? You still want to kill me?"

Xu Hongzhuang initially wanted to explain, yet realizing his last words, her eyes widened.

"I'm a cautious person, your recent abilities startled me, I find it hard to determine if you bear a grudge against me, so to prevent your revenge, it's best to kill you!"

"Why? Wasn't this a misunderstanding? I never meant to blame you, and... I am extremely grateful to you... I've never thought of seeking revenge..."

Xu Hongzhuang hurriedly explained, but Chen Feng remained unmoved, simultaneously, the Dark Elf readied her bow and arrow once more. This time, Xu Hongzhuang distinctly felt a hint of murderous intent from her, like a swamp, letting her heart sink, knowing the other was not joking.

No!

I can't die yet!

Xu Hongzhuang clenched her fists, not fearing death, but her family's blood revenge remained unfulfilled, she swore to eradicate these monsters, offering appeasement to her family in the afterlife, how could she... how could she die here?

"No, please listen to my explanation, I can't die yet, this horrendous disaster took all my family, I swore to make these monsters pay in blood, I can't die here, at least not now!"

Xu Hongzhuang raised her neck, confronting Chen Feng with a hoarse voice.

In front of Xu Hongzhuang's pleading, Chen Feng merely shook his head: "What does that have to do with me? I only care about my safety, such verbal promises, don't you find them a little too simplistic?"

"Then... what do I have to do for you to let me go? I can swear on my departed family, I will never harm you..."

"Do you think someone like me would believe in so-called oaths?"

Xu Hongzhuang was dumbfounded, right, such a selfish, suspicious guy, how could he possibly believe her vow.

Do I really need to die?

"Of course, if you agree to do one thing for me, I might consider letting you go."

"Really?"

Xu Hongzhuang felt like she caught onto a lifeline, she had no time to think so much, hurriedly nodded: "You say, no matter what it is, I will try my best to accomplish it!"

That's exactly what was needed.

Hearing this, Chen Feng smiled, taking a step forward, leaning his head closer to Xu Hongzhuang's ear: "Anything, right? Then, pledge your allegiance to me!"
