Chapter 11 - Chapter 10: The Person He Killed Was His Wife

After Hu Chi finished speaking, Zhou Zhicheng and the officer beside him exchanged a glance, both seeing the same emotion in each other's eyes.

With a stern face, his expression grave, Zhou Zhicheng urgently asked, "What's the situation?"

"Where did you hear about this?"

Could it be that someone came to report the crime?

Unconsciously, Zhou Zhicheng speculated.

Although he didn't want to see a murder occur, perhaps this sudden turn of events could save the young girl's life.

"This, this." Hu Chi holding up his phone, "The host said it."

"Host?" Zhou Zhicheng accepted the phone suspiciously, squinted his eyes as he couldn't see clearly, and took a step back. When Mu Yunchu's blurry outline became clear in his view, his confusion only increased rather than diminished.

Could this be a witness?

While he hadn't fully grasped the situation, Mu Yunchu's livestream had already exploded.

[Did you just see the uniform of the person next to him at a glance?]

[I saw it, but I'm a bit scared to say, because it looks like a police uniform.]

[Oh my God ??? Police??? Really police???]

[Isn't this a new script or something? I just heard the host say something about a murderer, this script is way too bold!]

[Host, you're done for. Pretending to be a police officer is illegal, I'll report you after watching this!]

...

Facing Zhou Zhicheng's puzzled gaze, Hu Chi briefly recounted the incident that had just occurred.

"In conclusion, Wang Ning is most likely a murderer!"

Zhou Zhicheng: "..."

So excited, he didn't even notice his old captain's face gradually darkening.

It was only when a colleague next to him signaled for him to stop talking that Hu Chi realized something was wrong.

"W-What's wrong?"

Zhou Zhicheng's voice was filled with threat, "I'm thinking of how to shake the water out of your brain."

Can fortune-telling even be believed?

"This is not a place for your child's play!"

He was angry and worried.

Angry that Hu Chi would believe in such unfounded things.

And worried about the future of their police team once he retires, with people like this.

But Hu Chi was quite persistent.

The reason was that while running over, he was completely convinced by what Mu Yunchu said over the headphones.

Thinking that they were about to let a convict who had committed murder walk out from the police station made him feel uneasy all over.

"Captain Zhou! Please trust me this once!"

"Just listen to what she has to say!"

On the verge of kicking Hu Chi out, Zhou Zhicheng hesitated, he didn't answer, but the latter already understood his intention.

He excitedly took back the phone, looking at Mu Yunchu on the screen, "Beautiful host, can you repeat what you just said to our captain?"

Actually, from the previous conversation, Mu Yunchu already understood what was happening.

And she clearly knew, she held the future of a murderer in her hands now.

Thinking of this, she adjusted her expression to be solemn.

First, she needed to gain the trust of the man in front of her…

"You were born in the countryside, with a poor family. You have shallow kin ties, your mother died shortly after you were born due to illness, and a few years later, your father met with an accident."

From the moment she spoke, Zhou Zhicheng froze.

Simply because Mu Yunchu was so accurate, her voice seeped into his heart, stirring ripples.

"Despite being in a relatively backward place with limited opportunities, this did not make you a person who goes with the flow. Instead, your tenacity drove you, through continuous effort, to finally get admitted to the police academy of your dreams."

In Zhou Zhicheng's era, it was much harder to come out of the mountains than it is now.

Zhou Zhicheng no longer resisted like before, instead sitting in his chair, wanting to listen to what she would say next.

He was even more curious about how Mu Yunchu knew these things.

"After graduation, you became a police officer as you wished. Climbing your way up, you reached your current position."

Regarding this part, Mu Yunchu didn't say much.

She could see Zhou Zhicheng's position wasn't very high, at least not matching his age, with a high probability of still rushing to the front lines, sometimes encountering danger.

From his appearance, he didn't care about such titles and vanity, a rare good police officer who prioritizes cases.

[It sounds a bit like an inspirational film.]

Stopping here, Mu Yunchu paused, her serene eyes resting on Zhou Zhicheng. The latter's heart jumped, inexplicably feeling like he had been seen through.

If what had happened so far was just a coincidence, what Mu Yunchu said next completely stunned him

"Ten years ago, you suffered a serious injury."

Zhou Zhicheng: !!!

He seemed to be in shock, more like scrutinizing, his sharp gaze fixed on Mu Yunchu, his eyes filled with unsheltered inquiry and defense.

"That injury nearly cost you your life."

No one saw Zhou Zhicheng's tightly clenched hand hanging to the side.

That battle was a secret.

Even people like Hu Chi, who joined the police station later, don't know the detailed specifics.

It's locked in the archive room.

It's also a knot in his heart he hasn't been able to untie to this day.

However, Mu Yunchu changed her tone and didn't elaborate on that case further. Instead, she talked about other aspects of his life.

Zhou Zhicheng consequently relaxed a lot.

No matter what Mu Yunchu said later, it couldn't reach the level of shock he felt earlier.

But after she finished speaking, he still had to accept one thing.

Mu Yunchu might really be able to tell fortunes.

[Oh my God, after all this, the host is truly impressive. I can feel that the old cop definitely believes what she's saying now.]

[For some reason, I actually feel like I'm reading a novel where the protagonist triumphs over the unimportant character…]

[What a coincidence, I feel the same.]

[I'm really curious, how on earth does the host know these things? Can't be real fortune-telling, right?]

[No way, have you seen anyone online who can tell someone's life story in such detail? For something like this, I'll bet my future romance luck, definitely scripted beforehand!]>

...

Zhou Zhicheng couldn't see the tiny characters in the chat, but he had to talk to the young girl in front of him.

"Alright, I'll tentatively accept your claim that he's a murderer."

"Then tell me, who did he kill?"

Mu Yunchu briefly closed her eyes, as the Heavenly Mechanism unfolded in her mind, then re-opened them, her gaze colder than before.

Her thin lips parted, her voice gentle, yet her words were like a bomb, leaving one's heart unsettled for a long time.

"The person he killed is his wife."

[!!!]

Zhou Zhicheng: !!!
