Intense pain...
It's as if countless sharp shards were embedded within the body...
In this endless darkness, the consciousness seemed to be constantly falling, falling, falling, endlessly descending into a deeper abyss...
Perhaps faintly aware of what such an end might entail, Klein struggled desperately, refusing to let his mind completely fall into oblivion. He issued a silent scream within the boundless darkness, like the dying struggle of a drowning person, refusing to give up no matter what.
It was unclear how long this lasted, but suddenly he jolted awake.
Klein sat up on the bed at once, gasping for air.
He felt as if he had just had a suffocating dream, the agony of drowning alive on a dark and lightless sea was so real, so vivid. Just by recalling it slightly, Klein involuntarily shivered, greedily breathing in fresh air for a while until he calmed down, then looked around as if remembering something.
White sheets, white curtains.
