Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Qian Duoduo's Pursuit of Education

Qian Duoduo's journey to education was not smooth.

First was the opposition from his parents.

Apart from him and his parents, Qian Duoduo's family also had two younger sisters and a younger brother. His mother was seriously ill, and the entire family's livelihood depended entirely on his father.

His father hoped that Qian Duoduo would drop out and work after finishing junior high school to share some of the burden and give the younger siblings a chance to go to school.

Secondly, there was the issue of health.

When Qian Duoduo's mother was pregnant, she did not receive good care and nutrition, so Qian Duoduo was a premature baby, weak and sickly from a young age.

"We're so poor, how can we afford to let you continue school? Son, you need to face reality!"

"Hahaha! A sickly kid wanting to go to college? So many children in our village failed to get into college, what makes you think a sickly kid like you can?"

"Qian Duoduo, what's the matter? You didn't do well in the exam again this time..."

As time went by, the game protagonist "Qian Duoduo" entered the third year of junior high school, about to face the second biggest exam in life after the college entrance exam— the high school entrance exam!

In front of the screen, Qian Xin finished his seventh cigarette.

Rubbing his eyes, which were either irritated by smoke or moistened by the storyline events, his expression was somewhat complex.

He didn't know what to say...

The various dilemmas faced by the game protagonist bewildered him because he hadn't experienced these himself.

Yet the protagonist, regardless of any adversity, persistently advanced with the belief that only by continuing to learn can one change their fate, deeply moved him.

This boy named "Qian Duoduo," reading under the moonlight with an empty stomach, herding cattle and cutting pig grass, wearing clothes with holes and patches...

He possesses qualities as dazzling as gold, as well as an unbreakable spirit!

"Damn!"

With a nose growing sour, Qian Xin slapped the table vigorously: "Even though it's just a game, with such determination, I've got to help you get into your desired high school."

Just a mere high school entrance exam, it must be taken down!

He got serious.

A child working so hard absolutely shouldn't drop out of school!

He must go to high school, and not just high school, but college in the future, letting knowledge change his fate.

Thinking about how "Qian Duoduo's" fate was in his hands, Qian Xin suddenly became full of energy.

"Time is tight, but it's not entirely without room for operation..."

In serious mode, Qian Xin quickly picked up pen and paper, starting to plan the most hardcore schedule according to the game mechanics.

The game's freedom is very high.

Other than the few hours of school which cannot be changed, from waking up in the morning to going to sleep at night, the time is absolutely enough.

Most importantly: weekends and holidays cannot be wasted!

Qian Xin suddenly realized that earlier, because of playing around, he missed a lot of valuable study time, who said holidays and rest days couldn't be intense?

It's too late to start a new file.

Already invested in the game and decided to use it as video material for the next episode, Qian Xin now had only one thought: help the protagonist get into the best high school in the city!

Because the game father said, at most, the family can support until junior high graduation, high school fees have to be "Qian Duoduo's" own problem to solve...

How to solve it?

Of course by scoring a stunning result in the high school entrance exam, drawing the focus of a key high school, obtaining free enrollment subsidies, and scholarship promises, to have hope of completing education.

Read books, stop herding cattle!

Herding cattle, herding cattle, all day herding cattle, what's the future in that? Better to seize the last year of junior high and read more to quickly improve grades!

Wake up at five in the morning, first memorize English words for half an hour, then make breakfast for the family, feed the pigs, do half an hour of math questions, and finally go to school.

After school, first "herd cattle" routinely, then cut pig grass, once enough Learning Motivation is gathered, immediately read until late at night, until exhausted and faint...

Three hours later, it's dawn!

Unknowingly working through the night, Qian Xin felt not a bit tired, quite the opposite; his mental state was more excited than anyone.

Because after working throughout the night, the game's timeline finally reached the graduation season of junior high school!

The anticipated high school entrance exam has arrived.

Probably due to the extreme malice of the game creator, on the last day of junior high school, the protagonist "Qian Duoduo" had a high fever, falling ill in bed.

"No, please, don't!"

Even though he wasn't the one sick, Qian Xin was more anxious than anyone, praying constantly for the protagonist to recover quickly, absolutely not affecting the next day's exam.

Three years of hard study, now at the brink of an opportunity to change fate, how can it end before the finish line due to a cold?

Perhaps heaven was watching over, on the exam day "Qian Duoduo" got well.

724 points!

This was the final score Qian Duoduo achieved, ranking tenth in the city, successfully admitted into the desired high school.

[With your tenth-place score in the city, you've been recruited to the desired high school, and the admissions teacher promises to waive your tuition fees and provide additional scholarship...]

[During high school years, any free time will be spent on odd jobs around the school, while your grades remain consistently in the top tier of the school, despite the hardships you don't feel tired, because you saw hope...]

[Three years later, amidst the surprised eyes of the villagers, you receive an admission letter from a prestigious university, becoming the first college student in the village...]

[Thirty years later, successful and renowned, you return with your wife and children to the small mountain village that raised you. At your parents' grave, you reminisce the past, the boy holding textbooks with his right hand, leading the old cattle with his left, seemingly unchanged...]

[Thank you for accompanying all the way!]

"Boohoo..."

Finally completing the game, Qian Xin flushed, panting heavily, feeling an unprecedented sense of accomplishment.

See?

This child was nurtured by him!

When everyone else didn't support him, it was Qian Xin, silently encouraging from the screen, planning the future for him, allowing him to smoothly get into the desired high school, thus changing his and his family's fate.

"Damn it, is it daybreak already?"

After watching the end animation, unlocking [Initial Achievement], Qian Xin suddenly realized he actually played through the night.

Too addictive!

Recalling his disdainful and skeptical look when the game was recommended by a hardcore fan, Qian Xin felt very fortunate.

Lucky!

Lucky he didn't miss out on this treasure of a game due to temporary bias.

"Brothers, thank you so much!"

"You were right, it is indeed a masterpiece. I'll make it the focus of my next video, much appreciated for your recommendation, love ya muah muah..."

Finding the "No Basketball" avatar in his contact list, Qian Xin, not caring if the other party was awake, expressed his gratitude with a barrage of messages.

After sending the messages, still high-spirited, Qian Xin didn't plan to rest, instead ready to quickly write a script about [Cold Window Study Simulator] while the ideas were fresh.

While writing the script, he started a new game file, launching screen recording...

The ending of the first file, though very pleasant, he wasn't entirely satisfied, because the protagonist could have scored even higher.

Top ten in the city?

NO! This time, with a new file, he aims for first place in the city!

Having made this decision, Qian Xin quickly began the second-round gameplay, but just as he prepared the screen recording software, he found that the game was stuck.

Oh, wait...

The game wasn't stuck, to be precise, his wireless mouse ran out of battery.

Due to losing the mouse's control, with the protagonist in automatic mode, it caused an infinite loop of the first item in the "task list," which was herding cattle.

"No, don't herd cattle..."

In desperation, Qian Xin could only watch helplessly as the protagonist, in double speed, looped the first task from morning till night, until his energy was exhausted and he fainted.

What a mess!

Future city-wide top scorer, now herding cattle all day long, exhausted till fainted?

"Sigh, have to restart..."

With a silent sigh, Qian Xin prepared to connect the reserved wired mouse, delete the useless file, and record a new one.

But as he changed the mouse and prepared to delete the save file, he discovered something quite peculiar.

According to the game timeline, hasn't summer vacation ended and school officially started? Why is the protagonist still herding cattle?

It's late already?

Hey, shouldn't you be in school? Miracle Walker still herding cattle!

"Is this... a Bug?"

Almost aware of something, Qian Xin widened his eyes at the computer screen, wondering if he was mistaken, or if there truly was a Bug.

Next day, Tuesday.

Five in the morning, herding cattle...

Ten in the morning, still herding cattle...

Clearly during school time, yet the protagonist in the game roamed the hillside leading Old Huang, completely unaffected.

"Ah this..."

Qian Xin's eyes widened, looking at the protagonist's "Learning Motivation value" growing infinitely, suddenly conceived a very bold idea.
