Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: A Wordless Performance

Su Qiangwei had her attention focused on Ma Ran for quite a while—from the moment he entered the classroom until now, a total of five minutes and seven seconds.

As a senior high school student aiming for Tsinghua and Peking University, this kind of time-wasting behavior seemed almost unforgivable to her.

But the problem was...

There seemed to be a mysterious magic power about him that made it impossible for her to look away.

Ma Ran's facial features and build were exactly the same as before, without any changes, one could only say he was somewhat handsome.

The key was the aura!

That sharp, extraordinary aura made Su Qiangwei subconsciously think of an unmatched swordsman in martial arts novels.

Hiding the blade for many years, never showing it to anyone, and one day finally mastering swordsmanship, deciding not to stay low-key any longer, emerging out of nowhere - witnessing all the splendors of the world!

At this moment, compared to the rest of the boys in the class, Ma Ran looked like a crane among chickens, exuding charisma.

"It's just a half-day off..."

"What exactly happened to this guy?"

Su Qiangwei was a bit puzzled.

Unlike those superficial girls in class, she wouldn't swoon over good-looking guys.

In her view, for men, the most important thing was talent, looks and so on didn't matter much—after all, when she looked for a husband in the future, his looks weren't likely to surpass hers.

She just felt a bit puzzled.

Aura is such an elusive thing, usually, people don't notice changes in it.

However, Ma Ran's transformation was baffling.

In fact, not just Su Qiangwei, but other classmates in the room, whether subtly or openly, had their eyes fixed on Ma Ran.

"Brother Ma, why did you suddenly start studying?"

"Hey! Don't just laugh! I feel like you're laughing at me for being stupid, am I overthinking this?"

"I also feel that way, his gaze... it reminds me of a human looking at a zoo gorilla..."

"Whoa, Young Master Ma, are you solving an Olympiad math problem? How come I can't understand a single word!"

"Brother Ma is awesome!"

A flash of insight sparked in Su Qiangwei's mind, she clapped her small hands, a subtle glow appeared in her eyes, and she began to have some guesses.

"Everyone make way!"

She parted the crowd, focusing her gaze on Ma Ran's desk.

At the moment, he was writing fervently, jotting down things that looked like ghost talismans.

As a top academic prodigy who self-studied and completed "Advanced Mathematics" ahead of time, Su Qiangwei had the qualifications and capital to be proud.

At the very least, she wouldn't just stand by and watch.

"These are the symbols of gradient pressure and vector formulas..."

With a quick glance at Ma Ran's scratch paper, Su Qiangwei suddenly felt overwhelmed, her temples started to throb slightly.

What he was researching was definitely not within a high school student's reach!

Even a graduate student in an advanced mathematics program might not tackle such complex issues!

"Wait! These formulas..."

Su Qiangwei's pupils contracted slightly; she took out her phone, opened the browser, and typed in a string of characters.

After comparing the search results, she couldn't help but blurt out, "It's indeed the Naver-Stokes Equation!"

Upon hearing this, one of her roommates whispered, "Naver-what equation?"

Trying to follow Ma Ran's thought process, Su Qiangwei heard this question and immediately lost her progress.

She turned her head and rolled her eyes irritably, "On May 24, 2000, the Clay Mathematics Institute announced a reward for solving seven 'Millennium Prize Problems' at the Paris France Academy, each one worth a million US Dollars."

"Among them, the 'Poincaré Conjecture' has already been solved by the Russian mathematician Grigory Perelman, and Ma Ran is now working on one of the seven millennium problems, the N-S Equation."

To be honest, Su Qiangwei didn't think Ma Ran had truly found a correct solution strategy.

If he had a really high talent in mathematics and the ability in this area, then why does he always hover around the ninety point passing line in exams?

Hm?

At this thought, Su Qiangwei's pupils contracted slightly.

Always around ninety points?

Su Qiangwei had a good memory.

In the last monthly exam, Ma Ran scored 90, the one before that 91, and before that 92.

Arithmetic decrease?

"This is impossible!"

Gazing unwaveringly at Ma Ran, Su Qiangwei murmured, "If it were me, shouldn't I be able to reach this level too?"

"No..."

"I don't seem to be able to."

This is madness!

Who in their right mind would do this?!

Leaving the self-doubting Su Qiangwei aside, the entire classroom erupted into a chaotic market atmosphere because of her few words.

No one cared about millennium math problems or the N-S Equation.

Their attention was all drawn by the words "one million US dollars reward."

"Really? Such a high prize, it's a bit outrageous!"

"It's definitely true, my goddess never lies!"

"Stop flattering, even if you flatter well, she won't spare you a second glance."

"I don't like hearing that! Why is it flattering? What I'm saying is clearly objective truth!"

"One million! US Dollars! Oh my god! If I could earn that much money, my parents wouldn't say anything even if I played games every day!"

"Ha, do you have the capability to earn that one million?"

"I don't, but do you?"

Su Qiangwei sternly said, "Everyone, be quiet!"

Just after she shouted, the math teacher walked into the classroom.

The atmosphere was a bit awkward.

The math teacher was a tall, thin middle-aged man, wearing thick glasses, with the last name Zhu.

Seeing the unusual atmosphere in the classroom, he greeted Su Qiangwei, "Whoa, did the sun rise from the west today? I've never seen you argue with someone, what's going on here?"

Not only was Su Qiangwei the class monitor, but she was also the best-performing student in the class; since he took over this class, she always scored 100% in any math test.

The phrase "You score 150 because it's all you can achieve, I score 150 because the test is out of 150" fit Su Qiangwei perfectly.

"Teacher Zhu."

Su Qiangwei quickly adjusted her out-of-control emotions, replied with a stiff face, "Ma Ran is solving the N-S Equation."

Teacher Zhu came forward and nonchalantly glanced.

With one look, he couldn't tear his eyes away.

On that seemingly ordinary scratch paper, there seemed to be a magical power.

After all, he was the head coach of a top-level Math Olympiad team for five consecutive years; he could understand what he was seeing.

The more knowledgeable you are, the more you understand the difficulty involved.

"It's done."

Ma Ran's face showed little expression, but inside, he was laughing wildly.

An outstanding actor doesn't need any lines!

A slight facial expression, an unintended gesture could perfectly showcase the image he wanted to create!

At this moment, in everyone's eyes, he was an academic demon unbeaten, a hidden master at the level of a library monk!

Reaching this stage successfully must thank Qiangwei Su's supportive role.

"To each their own, though I really appreciate it, the spot that should be yours, I'm determined to get it!"

With this in mind, Ma Ran raised his head, taking a deep look at Su Qiangwei.

There are many ways to join the academic society, with time the methods would increase, but...

The academic ability assessment was the safest and quickest way.
