Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: I Haven't Put On My Clothes Yet

The sports car continued on its way.

With a few kilometers to go, Su Xin wanted to dry his clothes as much as possible, holding them with both hands and constantly adjusting their position at the air conditioner vent.

He knew that after their recent argument, Fang Mengzhu had sobered up a lot. As long as she wasn't intentionally reckless, there shouldn't be any risk of an accident.

But just as he let his guard down.

He noticed the vehicle suddenly start to decelerate.

Although it didn't come to a stop, this braking was clearly not a normal situation.

Su Xin quickly looked up.

His hands instinctively came together in a prayer position.

He saw a black sedan ahead, which had unexpectedly appeared, with its brake lights glowing. On the left, another black sedan was keeping pace with them.

Even with no counter-surveillance knowledge, Su Xin understood from this scene that Fang Mengzhu had definitely been targeted.

Just as he was thinking about how to respond.

The window of the black sedan on the left rolled down, and a handsome middle-aged man's face appeared at the window, shouting at Fang Mengzhu:

"Xiao Meng, stop messing around, come home with me! Your mom is really worried."

Fang Mengzhu snorted softly, ignoring him.

But then, as if remembering something, her expression became a bit panicked and she said urgently:

"Su Xin! Put on your clothes quickly!"

"Oh, oh, alright!"

Su Xin also reacted, hurriedly unbuckled his seatbelt, and was about to start putting on his clothes.

But the black sedan in front was slowing down gradually, forcing Fang Mengzhu to slow down as well, making it difficult for Su Xin, who had undone his seatbelt, to control his body, let alone free his hands to put on clothes.

"Wait! There's no time, you grab your stuff quickly. When I stop the car, make sure to run out immediately. Don't let my dad catch you!"

"But I'm not dressed yet!"

"There's no time! If my dad sees this, he will definitely misunderstand!"

"I'm doing nothing wrong, I've got nothing to hide. Just explain later..."

"Stop talking! If my dad misunderstands, he will definitely kill you! He really will kill you!"

"Why does this feel like being caught in the act..."

Muttering to himself, Su Xin quickly put on his sneakers, picked up various cards and IDs from the floor mat and stuffed them into his wallet, then grabbed a few banknotes and shoved them in, finally grabbing his clothes, pants, and phone.

At this moment, the car was forced to a stop.

Su Xin quickly glanced at the rearview mirror, opened the car door, and dashed out with his head down.

The red sports car was in the far right lane, with a flowerbed beside it. Beyond the flowerbed was a non-motorized lane, and further ahead was a row of low storefronts, most of which were closed, obviously due to the low foot traffic in this area.

Su Xin raised the clothes in his arms to cover his handsome face, ran straight into the bushes in the flowerbed, and passed through in the blink of an eye.

At the same time.

The middle-aged man about to get out of the black sedan caught sight of Su Xin's naked back and his expression changed dramatically, ordering loudly:

"Grab that kid!"

"Yes!"

Two young men in black suits got out of the other black sedan. Acknowledging the command, they started striding in Su Xin's direction.

The middle-aged man quickly walked to the sports car, yanking on the door, but couldn't open it. He then banged on the window, demanding loudly:

"Xiao Meng! Who is that man? What were you doing in there? Get out of the car!!"

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

The urgent banging made Fang Mengzhu incredibly nervous and annoyed until she saw Su Xin's figure disappear on the other side of the flowerbed, with her father's men barely chasing after him, she finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"Why am I so nervous!"

Fang Mengzhu patted her face, trying to appear less tense, and donned a look of defiance and anger before forcefully pushing open the car door.

Once out of the car, she saw her father's face, as gloomy as if covered in dark clouds.

But she stared back fearlessly, speaking loudly: "You have no right to control my life!"

"Smack!"

Seeing Fang Mengzhu was neatly dressed, the middle-aged man, whose anger had subsided a little as he assumed there might be a misunderstanding and was willing to listen to his daughter's explanation, instantly lost his temper upon hearing her words and slapped her hard across the face.

"Running away from home, messing around in a car with some shady man, do you have no shame?!"

Fang Mengzhu stood frozen on the spot.

After a long while, she clutched her flushed cheek, staring incredulously at her father's angry face, tears streaming down her face as she screamed hysterically:

"Do you have any shame?"

"Cheating behind mom's back! Who knows how many kids you have out there! When have you ever cared about me? What right do you have to control me!"

"You!..."

The middle-aged man's face flushed with anger, raising his hand as if to slap her again, but seeing his daughter's face with a clear handprint and full of tears, he paused.

...

"Whew!"

Su Xin gasped for breath anxiously.

He cautiously poked his head out from behind a corner wall, relieved to see that the two men in black hadn't caught up to him.

"Damn it, it was just a ride. How did things end up like this..."

Su Xin grumbled helplessly.

He glanced at the numerous red marks and small scratches on his body, all from his rush through the flowerbed.

Fortunately, the bushes in the flowerbed weren't tall, and he protected his face, so he was not disfigured.

After carefully observing for a while to confirm that the men in black really weren't coming, Su Xin finally began to put on his clothes.

By now, darkness had fallen.

The chill of early autumn had already enveloped the city, and Su Xin, who was already slightly unwell, was filled with cold inside and out after putting on his wet and cold clothes.

"Damn, what have I gotten myself into!"

"Achoo!"

After several sneezes, Su Xin no longer cared about the two men in black and strolled out nonchalantly from the corner.

He had run a few minutes along the sidewalk, at least a kilometer away from where the car had stopped, so he wasn't worried about being found.

He flagged down a taxi by the roadside and returned home smoothly in half an hour.

Of course, it was a home of his own.

...

After a comfortable hot bath and swallowing a few cold pills, Su Xin returned to the warmth of his bed, enjoying the warm breeze from the air conditioner and breathing a sigh of relief.

Thinking about the day's experiences, especially the system and his Concealment Prayer ability.

It's undeniable that the Causality Law Superpower is indeed amazing—no consumption, no cooldown, easy to use—but the 'Random Instant Teleportation' aspect is a bit of a headache.

He couldn't be absolutely certain that the teleportation destinations were safe, so he didn't plan to use it again until the ability upgraded.

After all, just 40 causality points short of an upgrade.

By then, it might mend the flaws.

Also, the new Causality Law Superpower would only awaken when the system issued a new task.

What are the conditions for task issuance?

With these scattered thoughts, Su Xin soon drifted into a deep sleep.
