Chapter 17 - Chapter 17 "Twins Fight"

Scene shift to the ruined city

Adil (thinking): Okay, now let's try again.

He ran toward the ruins—same path, same loop.

Adil (thinking): How can I break the third pattern?

Then he paused.

Adil (thinking):Wait… every time I look at that old house, I feel a buzzing. What is that? I saw something there… I can't remember… hmm…

Suddenly, the system appeared.

[SYSTEM DETECTED: SCP-055]

Adil blinked.

Adil: "Huh… SCP-055? I've heard it makes people forget… or something like that."

He smirked.

Adil: "Well, now you're finally being useful, system."

Adil (thinking):Okay… this time, I will not look at that old house.

He quickly turned away.

Kael appeared again, annoyed.

Kael: "Where are you? Lost in thought again?"

Adil didn't respond.

Then the system appeared.

[PATTERN BREAK: 1 REGISTERED][3 REMAINING]

Adil smirked.

Adil: "So… finally".

Adil didn't run when SCP-939 appeared.

He stood his ground—again—and helped Kael defeat it.

The creature shrieked, collapsing in a haze of blood and gas.

[SYSTEM ALERT][PATTERN BREAK: 3 REGISTERED][1 REMAINING]

Adil wiped his forehead, smirking.

Adil: "Hmmm… now what will be the last one?"

He started pacing, hands behind his back, humming to himself.

Adil (singing softly): "Lalalala… thinking time… loop-breaking time…"

Kael stared at him like he'd lost his mind.

Which, to be fair, he probably had.

Adil (thinking): One more pattern. One more twist. What haven't I done yet?

Adil paused.

Adil (thinking): Wait…

He looked at Kael.

Adil (thinking): What if I…

Kael raised an eyebrow, clearly annoyed.

Kael: "What the hell is he thinking now?"

Adil smirked.

Adil (thinking): Well… It's not bad to try.

He stepped forward.

Adil: "Hey, Kael."

Adil: "You arrogant bastard… heh." Smirks.

Kael raised an annoyed smile, eyes narrowing.

Kael: "You have a death wish."

Adil didn't say a word.

He lunged forward—fist flying.

Kael reacted instantly, blocking the punch with a smooth guard.

Kael (snapping): "Are you really out of your mind?"

Adil lunged first—wild, unpredictable.

Kael sidestepped, but Adil grabbed his arm and spun, executing a sharp shoulder throw that slammed Kael onto the cracked floor.

Kael (gritting): "You've got guts, I'll give you that."

Kael quickly got on his feet. He launched an elbow strike, aiming for Adil's ribs.

Adil staggered, then retaliated with a front kick, driving Kael back a few steps.

Adil (smirking): "Not bad."

Kael growled, lunging into a grapple, locking Adil's arms.

Kael (mocking): "You really want to do this?"

Adil twisted, slipping out, and dropped low—hooking Kael's leg, flipping him again.

Kael hit the ground, but rolled, grabbing Adil's wrist mid-motion and snapping into an armbar.

Kael (coldly): "Say goodbye to your elbow."

Adil grinned through the pain.

Adil: "I'd rather say goodbye to the loop."

With a sudden twist, Adil broke free—dislocating the lock and rolling backward, panting.

They both stood.

Bruised.

Breathing hard.

Staring.

Kael (smiling): "You're insane."

Adil (grinning): "Takes one to fight one."

Adil staggered back, his left arm hanging awkwardly.

Adil (gritting his teeth):"Damn it…"

He winced, eyes twitching from the pain.

Then—with a sharp breath—he grabbed his arm and painfully forced it back into position.

A sickening pop echoed through the ruins.

Adil (muttering): "Well… that sucked."
