Chapter 18 - The Gate of Death

The passage leads diagonally downwards, and along the way, we saw many human remains. The Kazha people silently paid their respects to the human remains. We understood that these people must be the ones their tribe had sacrificed.

We didn't know what dangers lay ahead, so we moved very slowly. Behind us, some small monsters and demonic creatures chased after us. We could only keep moving while fighting. However, the larger monsters were generally too big to enter the passage, and the narrow passage made the monsters unable to besiege us. So, there was no threat at all. At this time, several Kazha warriors also selected some usable items from the remnants of their armor and weapons on the ground. They were mostly iron-grade equipment. After changing them, our abilities improved significantly.

The chieftain walked along and explained to us the situation of the battle back then. At that time, this passage was full of traps and there were many guardians of the gods. At least a thousand of their people died on this road. We were very lucky. If the gods woke up, these traps and guardians would quickly be restored automatically. Even with ten times more people, we couldn't pass through this passage.

At the end of the passage, there was a hall. Around the mural, various shapes were depicted, with simple and ancient lines, but the people and beasts in the shapes all exuded great vigour, making one feel a sense of awe just by looking at them.

Around the hall, there were three doors. We didn't have time to look closely. We had to deal with the monsters behind first.

The warriors blocked at the passage entrance, the archers didn't need to aim, just shot into the passage. I also sent fireballs into the passage. The fireballs had just risen to the third level of the primary grade, and they were quite effective against such small monsters.

At this time, the chieftain regained some energy and stood up without greeting us, directly casting his advanced spell: "Earth Wall".

"Earth Wall" was originally just a defensive spell, but the chieftain sent countless earth walls towards the passage, basically filling the entire passage. We listened in silence to the dull roars behind the earth walls. Although the monsters suffocated and died, how could we get out next?

The chieftain said slowly: "In the main hall of the 'Niu Shou Great God', there is a teleportation array that can directly transport us to the place where the other god 'Plague Great God' resides. After that, we will go out directly from there."

I looked at the tiger king and them. It seemed that the old chieftain was now very optimistic. He was already considering attacking a god. Maybe it was the confidence brought by the "Pasture God Set". However, it couldn't be that he used the long-winded magic of the set to deal with a god-level boss. Anyway, in our minds, we had no idea at all. The guys who could gather so many 50-level monsters were simply unimaginably powerful in terms of combat ability.

We looked at the three stone doors around us. They were all inscribed with ancient characters. Even the chieftain couldn't recognize them. It was decided by several elders back then, and everyone followed the middle path.

Recalling what I had learned from the bookstore owner about "archaeology", after repeated use, I recognized these characters.

On the left door, it was written "Wealth", on the right door, it was written "Power", and on the middle door, it was written "Death".

Oh my god, this "Niu Shou Great God" is really powerful. He actually used such psychological warfare. Humans are a greedy race, who wouldn't want to have power and wealth? Once we entered the other two doors, I dare say, what awaits them is true death. However, even if they know this, how many people can resist the temptation and give up those two doors? I didn't tell the enraged Kazha people the result. I just said, "The middle door should be the right one."

The chieftain said excitedly: "Of course, that's right. We discovered the Niu Shou Great God behind this door. Then, we sacrificed the lives of two thousand of our people to seal the god."

I comforted the enraged Kazha people. Now we urgently needed the chieftain to restore his mental energy. Let's let everyone rest first and take out some recovery potions and food to take.

When I proudly held out a metal "foldable wire bed" in my hand, everyone was stunned. The Kazakh people didn't know what it was, and the Tiger King was even more speechless.

"I don't keep it" and "It's for special ventilation" asked strangely: "What is this?" I was confused: "Wire bed, why did I make it so similar that you all can't recognize it?"

The Tiger King cleared his throat: "To the heavens, we can't blame them. They are only 18 years old. The wire beds were no longer available when they were young. I'm a few years older than them, otherwise I wouldn't have recognized it. By the way, to the heavens, you look younger than me, how did you know about this thing?"

I was at a loss for words. I couldn't believe that the most basic equipment I needed when I was looking for a job and renting a house after graduation - the wire bed - had been phased out in just twenty years. How could this be? Such a good thing...

I muttered a few words, inviting everyone to come to the bed to recover their fatigue. Everyone tried it and all praised it. The Tiger King said: "To the heavens, you look younger than me, how did you know about this thing?"

I was speechless. I never expected that the most basic equipment - the wire bed - which I needed when I was looking for a job and renting a house after graduation, had been phased out in just twenty years. How could this be? Such a good thing...

After a few hesitant words, we invited everyone to come to the bed to recover their fatigue. Everyone tried it and all praised it. After the Tiger King and the other two of us recovered, we hurriedly logged off to have dinner. When they returned, the fatigue levels of the others had recovered enough to exert their best combat power. The tribal chief's mental strength had basically recovered. We decided to act.

With force, I pushed open the "death" door in the center, and the repulsive stench hit me in the face. The special ventilation area trembled: "It's the stench of corpses!" At the same time, the vitality of all of us dropped a few points. The smell was poisonous!

I quickly cast the "windstorm" spell, and the special ventilation area also released the "sacred light spell" to relieve the abnormal states of the team members. We finally felt a little better.

There was a passage about ten meters long behind the door. After walking through this passage, our eyes were greeted by a huge hall.

The hall was somewhat similar to the temple of light. There were about ten tall pillars around it. On the front altar, a figure with a bull's head and human body, wearing armor, was sitting on a throne. On the ground, were shocking white bones. Perhaps because the hall was well-sealed, many corpses still had flesh on them. The stench of corpses came from them.

In the myths of various ethnic groups, there were too many creatures with a bull's head. But the one before me was clearly not based on those deities. Because the double horns on the bull's head were actually designed as two antennae, like two antennas. My first impression was: aliens...

The bull god and the throne were wrapped in a huge crystal. Vaguely, I could see that there was energy flowing in the crystal. Carefully observing, it seemed that a small opening had been made in the crystal, and a faint mist slowly emerged from the opening.

The tribal chief trembled all over: "Who, who broke the seal? This seal was formed by our great old tribal chief and hundreds of tribal mages with their lives!"

Just at that moment, I felt a dangerous signal coming from the darkness at the corner of the hall. I trusted my intuition absolutely. Without time to think, I suddenly pushed the old tribal chief who was beside me to the ground. A blue pale shadow arrow flashed out from the place where the old tribal chief had been standing and stuck to the wall, buzzing.

Everyone shouted in unison. A figure slowly emerged from the darkness. It was a human!

This human with disheveled hair and beard reaching his chest was extremely thin, like a skeleton, but his eyes were extremely sharp. Moreover, the deep eye sockets had red eyeballs!

We were about to attack when the tribal chief suddenly excitedly shouted: "Ah Han, is it you? How did you become like this?"

We then noticed that the person was wearing Kazakh clothing and the bow in his hand was the type commonly used by the Kazakhs. Could he be the survivor of the last battle? How did he survive and how did he survive in this isolated place for ten years?

As if from the friction of hard objects, a strange laugh came from the person's mouth: "I'm not Ah Han. Ah Han has long been dead. That weak and humble person has also long been dead!"

The tribal chief shouted loudly: "No! You are Ah Han!" You are my friend. Even if you become like this, I will still remember you! I still remember that during that great battle, you said you were too tired to move, so you stayed at the end of the line. But when we finished fighting the Bull God, we couldn't find you anymore. Where were you then? If I had known you weren't dead, I would definitely have gone to look for you. I would never have left you behind!"

Ah Han let out a long, terrifying laugh, and the terrifying sound caused goosebumps to appear all over our bodies. He said slowly, "It's all your fault for being so stupid! You didn't recognize the words on the door and just walked straight into the 'Death' door. But I recognized those words, so I chose the correct direction!"

I said in surprise, "You chose the 'Power' door!"
