Chapter 73 - Kingdom

This booklet is called "Combo Moves", and the name is rather plain. However, it made me extremely happy. It must be about performing several moves in succession. Just think about the fighting games I used to play, such as "Samurai Warriors 6" and "Street Fighter XV", where the combos were simply amazing.

I have no idea what is written in the book. Anyway, when I opened the pages, a white light appeared, and I learned "Combo Moves". The book then disappeared.

The Lord Mayor said, "This book is not a system item. It was written by me. We, the Lord Mayor level characters, all have this skill. Its function is to be placed in the auxiliary bar to form a combo. Whether it's fighting skills, archery, or offensive magic, it is applicable."

I asked, "Then exactly how many combo moves are there?"

The Lord Mayor said, "It's currently at the beginner level one grade. It can only perform two combo moves, and the speed is not fast. For example, the time it takes for you to cast three magic spells is only enough for two magic combo moves. As your level increases, it will become stronger. The highest level is unknown to me."

Haha, it's already quite good. Such a skill book is so awesome. Even if it is only applicable to one profession, I have already made a fortune. Besides, it works for all professions.

Speaking of which, most players don't have combo moves. Tiger King, Honey, Lanx... none of them can do it.

I was still thinking about going to the capital to handle some matters, so I said goodbye to the Lord Mayor and left. I didn't forget to choose weapons before leaving.

The guards in charge of the armory opened the old warehouse and told me that I could choose a maximum of six items. They were stingy.

The old warehouse actually mostly contained junk, such as wooden and stone equipment, and there was a lot of it. I wondered if it was the equipment used by the city of Sunset hundreds of years ago.

I waved away the musty smell and dust on the weapons, and still found many platinum-level equipment. Now, except for the necklace and the wrist guards, everything else on my body is growth-type equipment. I really don't need much, just help my brothers choose.

Although it was discarded by the guards, the Lord Mayor's mansion clearly had all kinds of talents. So the equipment here is for all professions. After quickly choosing six items, I won't go into detail. I don't want to bore everyone.

Suddenly, my eyes fell on a huge axe on the side. It was of silver grade. I suddenly felt a bit sad and thought of Aiman.

I asked the guard, "Are there many axe warriors here?"

The guard said, "That transformation is not easy to occur. Now there are no such warriors in the city. This axe was used by an officer many years ago. Because he achieved many merits, when he retired, the Lord Mayor allowed him to take away all his equipment above white and gold, including his own."

I exclaimed, "Is he called Aiman?"

The guard nodded. I asked urgently, "Then do you know where he lives?"

After some effort, I finally got the information about Aiman's home from the mansion's steward. I hurriedly ran out.

Aiman's residence was not particularly poor. This made me even more puzzled. Are the living expenses of NPCs so high? Does Aiman have to sell his jade and equipment?

The one who let me in was a woman. Her name was "Aiman's wife". I said I was Aiman's friend, and Aiman had gone on a long trip for business and would be back soon. I asked him to say a word for me.

The woman led me into the house. I looked around and found that the furniture inside was indeed very simple. I couldn't help asking, "Madam, where is your child?"

The woman smiled and said, "Our child is studying at the High Magic Academy in Crystal City. They can only come back once a month. They just left yesterday."

I said "Oh" and tentatively asked, "High Magic Academy? The tuition must be very high, right?"

The woman said calmly, "Yes, it's 5,000 gold coins per semester. However, this child is very sensible. While studying in Crystal City, he also works part-time, which has saved us a lot of trouble."

I finally understood why Aiman needed so much money. Such high tuition fees forced him to become a high-risk mercenary.

Unfortunately, I don't have much money now. Once I earn some money, I will definitely try my best to compensate this family. However, no matter how I compensate, I'm afraid I can't reduce my guilt towards Aiman.

Let's use Aiman's name to leave 100 gold coins as a token of my feelings. I walked away with a heavy step, fortunately, Aiman's wife wasn't very intelligent, otherwise she would have noticed that something was wrong from my expression.

I arrived at the teleportation array. As the lord and provisional duke, I didn't need to go through the procedures to leave the city. Looking at the destination, it was "Tianzhu City" in the "Westling Kingdom" section, and it was written "5 gold coins".

It's really expensive! After teleporting to Tianzhu City, I disappeared in the teleportation array.

This time it took probably a minute to reach the destination.

Although I was prepared, the scene before me still left me stunned.

The king is more than just prosperous; it's a word: "spectacular!"

In front of me was a huge pillar. I wasn't sure if it was still a pillar, its diameter might be measured in hundreds of kilometers. In front of it, even the Olympic stadiums and the Roman Colosseum became small stones.

I was ten kilometers away from the pillar, but I didn't even see the scenery in front of me, and I was already stunned by the pillar.

The pillar towered into the clouds, I couldn't tell how high it was. Could it really be a top-of-the-world pillar?

After a while, I came to my senses. Only computer-generated programs could create such a grand scene, right? If someone were to draw it, just the giant textures on the pillar alone would take an artist several lifetimes to complete. Those textures, at first glance, had no two identical ones!

Even if the game company had enough manpower, it wouldn't be possible for the artists to spend so much time doing such a thing. The game company's goal was to get the game to the market as soon as possible.

Being able to surround such a huge pillar, the walls of the capital city itself is also an amazing project. If it was extended, it would be over a thousand kilometers long, already a medium-sized Great Wall.

Between the walls and the pillar, there were numerous tall buildings, all in the shape of pillars. Walking in this city, I felt like an ant. However, when these tall buildings were compared to the huge pillar, they all became toothpicks.

Walking along, I really felt dizzy because I couldn't help looking up at the tall buildings and then at the pillar each time. With each look, my head got dizzy.

Finally, I remembered my purpose of coming here and caught an NPC to ask about the location of the government.

The palace was where the king lived. As a small provisional duke, I probably wasn't qualified to go there. To handle affairs, I should probably look for the prime minister, the prime minister, or someone like that.

Finally, I found the "State Affairs Office". I wore the lord's emblem and the gatekeeper let me enter directly.

This building was hundreds of floors high, making me sigh: "The institutions are bloated!"

I asked the reception lady downstairs, and I directly got on the small teleportation array beside it, arriving at the "Virtue Department" - "Duke Hall" - "Review Room".

There were about a dozen office staff in one review room, making me gasp in amazement. How many people were there in this building? I wonder why they charged us players so much tax. It turns out it was used to pay salaries.

I randomly asked a lady, and I finally got the various ranks of titles. My charm increased by 2 and my luck by 1.

Oh, what a hassle! If I had known it would be so difficult to get there, I would have just sat at home and waited for the messenger to deliver the goods to my doorstep. It's all my own fault!

Finally, it was time to apply for the establishment of the town. "Ministry of Land", "Administrative Region Department", "Ministry of Finance", "Registration Department", "Security Department", "Ministry of Defense"... I felt as if all the departments in this building had exhausted me. Finally, I received a piece of paper stamped with numerous seals: "Review and filing completed. Please go to the palace to obtain the king's approval."

Angry, seriously BS host "Hai Lan"! Why can't it be simpler? Even the bureaucratic system of humans has been brought over, and it's even more excessive! (Hai Lan: "It's better if it's more complicated. This way, the common people won't randomly come to trouble the government, hehe...") )

Before leaving, a guy in charge of horses in the military affairs department of the Ministry of Defense came to me and told me that someone would come to pick up the horses from my place in ten days.

Dragging my heavy steps downstairs, the helmet alarm sounded at this moment. The angel I had been waiting for returned to me.

Yesterday, Zhao Xue'er had a day off, so she didn't come to see me. Surprisingly, she even apologized to me for it, which moved me to tears, but she couldn't see it.

Since being scolded by the music hall owner, I no longer wanted to try to find other "divine songs". Instead, I just wanted to savor the meaning of these songs. Honestly speaking, the music chosen by Zhao Xue'er for me was much better than the one I found in the relaxation space by myself. It made me feel so relaxed that I completely forgot all the troubles I had in the State Affairs Building.

Returning to the game, I headed towards the palace. The palace was actually inside those huge pillars. The king couldn't ride a horse, and this ten-kilometer journey made me extremely tired.

The application for the town-building was passed layer by layer by the guards, and I was waiting outside the palace. I didn't know how big the palace was. After waiting for about half an hour, a message came from inside: "The king summons Lord Tian Zhengrong!"

Guided by the guards, I walked into the palace gate. Each time I passed a door, a different guard led the way. On both sides, there were also a lot of well-armored guards. I didn't dare to investigate, but judging from the glint of their equipment, there were no guards below level 60.

I won't say the scenery of the palace corridors I saw along the way. Anyway, no one really likes to look at it.

Finally, I arrived at the council hall. I wondered if this king could rest. It was meal time now, and he still had to deal with state affairs. He was so hardworking.

Looking up, I was startled. It turned out that the king wasn't an old man. He was a teenager of about fifteen or sixteen years old. The robe he was wearing couldn't show his rank. Anyway, it was very high-end.

There were several close attendants and palace ladies on both sides. At the bottom of the steps, there were dozens of nobles and ministers. Seeing so many high-ranking officials waiting for me at once, I felt quite proud. These guys must be over 100 levels, right? Seeing so many at once was really...

The king's words interrupted my thoughts: "You are Lord Tian Zhengrong, right? I have often heard about your deeds. You were the first to reach the standard for acquiring territory, exposed corrupt officials, obtained the position of tribal chief of a foreign race, and killed the most wanted criminal in the kingdom. Now, you have even applied to build a town. You are really not an ordinary player, aren't you?"

I chuckled: "No, it's just a bit of luck."

The ministers all frowned. They had never seen anyone who talked to the king and dared to be so cheeky.

Actually, I also knew that the palace should be polite. But we were all from the countryside and didn't understand any etiquette. If we did something in an improper way, it would be even more ridiculous.

The king didn't seem angry. Instead, he was more interested in me: "Originally, the approval for building the town didn't require you to come in. But I wanted to see you. You didn't disappoint me. There is a very rare spirit in your body. I can't say what it is, but it's certainly not bad."

I didn't expect that this king was so young yet had such insight. At a glance, he saw that I was an outstanding young man, a dragon among men, a statesman capable of governing a world, a leader in chaotic times, and the ninth wonder of the world... Hehe.

The king thought for a moment: "Our country has always valued talents. Since you have such abilities, I will give you more opportunities to showcase your talents. Originally, I had planned to assign you only royal tasks below the E level because of your low rank. However, seeing how excellent you are today, I will assign you a SSS level task instead."

I was so happy that I almost fainted. SSS level! Like the magical god, getting a phoenix or space transfer, then I would be rich!

The close臣 stepped down the steps and handed me a scroll. The king asked me to leave.

I held the scroll tightly and staggered out of the palace, feeling dizzy. But I didn't know that after I left, a minister stepped forward and said: "Your Majesty, this person is developing too fast. It might affect the balance of the world. The gods have asked us to restrict him. Your Majesty, why did you still give such an advanced task to him?"

The king smiled slightly: "I want to use this task to trap him. This task even for a 100-level player would take a year to complete, and they might not be able to finish it. In the short term, we don't need to worry about hearing from him again..."
