Chapter 83 - Yusra

The woman in front of me was wearing a black wizard's robe and had a veil covering her face. However, from the exposed eyes and the outline visible behind the veil, I immediately recognized that she was a beautiful woman.

I rushed up to her and had originally planned to place the knife on the monster's neck. But seeing that it was wrong, I quickly withdrew my hand. However, due to my sudden panic, my footing became unstable and I fell onto her.

The beautiful witch's gaze suddenly became panicked, but without her having to cast a spell, the game's protection measures for female players immediately took effect. It determined that my actions did not constitute an "attack" and immediately lifted me up without any courtesy.

I sat down on the stern of the boat, and the witch's face had turned red. Her gaze seemed to want to kill someone. She raised her wizard's staff with her right hand and held a strange object with her left hand. The incantation was about to be recited.

I hurriedly shouted: "Sorry, I thought you were a monster. You, you, you are also a player, shouldn't you be grateful that I rescued you from the sand? You should thank me for saving you! I have absolutely no ill intentions towards you!"

The witch was stunned for a moment and thought for a while, finally not reciting the incantation.

I let out a sigh: "I'm here to look for the ancient city 'Yu'. Are you also doing a quest?"

The witch snorted: "Yes."

I felt some comfort. Finally, I had company. This way, I wouldn't be too lonely in the desert and could have someone to discuss with.

I said: "You came here earlier than me. What did you discover? It couldn't be because you were too tired and sank into the sand, right? How long have you been down there? Haven't you suffocated yet?"

The witch snorted: "Only you are so stupid. Yu is beneath this sand sea. This layer of sand is an array set by others!"

I exclaimed: "I know this is an array, but were you also in the array? Why can my fishing hook catch you?"

The witch's face remained red: "The exit of this array is at the bottom. Just pass through the sand and you can exit the array. So your fishing hook can also pass through the array and hook my belt!"

I then noticed that the fishing hook was caught on her belt behind her, but her clothes material was really good, and it wouldn't break when pulled. I quickly helped her untie it.

I was puzzled: "Since the exit is at the bottom, anyone can find it. What's the point of this array?"

The witch glared at me: "Yes, anyone can find it, but you didn't. Fortunately, you didn't use a flying pet. Once you fly up into the sky, a stronger array will be triggered. These are set by ancient demons gods, with the purpose of sealing the Yu City. We can come in from the outside, but the people inside cannot escape to the outside."

I wondered why this witch treated me so badly. I wasn't indebted to her, and I didn't offend her, right?

Maybe we'll have to do quests together in the future. I threw aside her bad attitude and smiled: "That's not certain. I'll just pull you out to the outside."

The witch glanced at my boat: "Only you, the monster, would think of rowing a boat on the sand. Others, except for flying up into the array and falling into it, will either fall into the Yu City below or be suffocated. It seems that I can finally get out."

I exclaimed: "You're not doing the quest anymore?"

The witch said: "I will do it, but my materials have run out. I must go out to buy some new ones."

I smiled: "Right. By the way, I'm called Yusra, a full-time player. What's your name and how long have you been trapped here?"

The witch snorted: "Why would I tell you?"

I was surprised. Here I was acting like a girl, not afraid that I would throw you into the sand? Just don't say anything. Let it be! I'll check!

"Yusra, 47th-level wizard."

Impressive. A wizard can reach level 47, which is already quite good. Moreover, she's a woman. Of course, wizards are usually specially trained by certain organizations and groups. This witch is probably the same.

I smiled: "Yusra wizard? Well, you want to get out, right? Can you find the direction? From where can you exit?"

Yusra frowned and sighed, "This spell, I can't get out of it either... By the way, what did you call me just now?"

I asked, "You're not a wizard? Wizards should understand spells, right?"

Yusra replied, "I haven't learned this spell. I have to master the spell to expert level or above before I can get out. Now I'm only at the highest level."

I said, "So, let's go to the underground city first. What's there?"

Yusra said, "There are monsters down there, and... and you'll know when you see it. If you want me to go with you down there, you have to provide me with materials."

I was stunned, "What materials?"

Yusra said grumpily, "You don't know? Our wizards' spells all require various materials as ingredients. Without materials, I can't do anything. If I die, you're responsible, right?"

Oh, I really don't want to give her materials. I'm alone going down too, isn't it the same? Why should I ask for anything from her?

Forget it. I don't want to see her getting angry. Just be generous and give her some materials to see if it can improve our relationship.

The materials I collected were quite abundant, and I liked to carry them with me so I could prepare to make things at any time. I randomly gave her some ordinary monster stuff. Yusra seemed to purse her lips: "You usually collect this kind of stuff, right? It's all from monsters at 30-40 levels."

I was stunned. You even complain?

Yusra gathered my materials and suddenly seemed to have a sudden realization: "Oh, I noticed that you're only 39 levels. To come to the underground city at this level... I see. It makes sense. You're already doing well in hitting monsters at 40 levels."

From what she said, I couldn't help but laugh. We're not just ordinary 39-levels! I took out all the materials in my pocket and dumped them on the boat: "Come, take a look. Do these things suit your lady's taste?"

Yusra's eyes lit up at once. The mouth behind the veil seemed to be suppressing a smile. I finally understood I was tricked. However, my hand was too slow. Yusra had already scooped up all my materials at once. Her movements were even faster than Benajah's!

Oh no, oh no, I thought she was that cold and aloof girl. I did this to vent my frustration. But, you know, she's been playing tricks all along!

Oh, recently spending too much time with friends, especially getting the "honesty" trait from the Lion King, I trusted people too much. How could I have not realized that this one in front of me is a woman? A woman...

My expression must have looked pitiful. I swallowed saliva: "Well, this, this, Yusra the Great Wizard, look, I also have uses for some of these things. For example, that blue fairy essence, that mystical turtle gall, that evil eagle golden horn, and..."

Yusra impatiently waved her hand: "Alright, alright. The materials from these bosses won't be used up in one go. Each type can be used many times. I promise I won't break them for you."

I still wanted to speak, but Yusra said, "Get ready, let's go."

She grabbed a few monster shells and several types of animal skins, muttered a few words in her mouth, and then shouted: "Armor Spell!" The shells and skins all disappeared from her hands, and a transparent protective shield appeared around her. Then, Yusra jumped into the sand sea.

I sighed. I first stepped out of my ark and then stuffed the ark into my bag.

Excluding the fear, let my body fall with the gravity. The black sand submerged me, but it didn't make me feel strange. Soon, I passed through the black sand and landed on the ground.

I looked up and was stunned. Where was the black sand? The sky above was high, and the clouds were dark, not a single ray of sunlight could be seen.

The entire earth was illuminated by the faint light of phosphorescent fire floating in the air. Looking at the phosphorescence, I recalled my Soul Vessel and activated the "Soul Absorption Spell" attached to it, waving it a few times at the phosphorescence, but to no avail. The system message read: "No usable target."

Yusra shrieked over there: "You still haven't come to help yet? Do you want me to use up all the materials?"

My heart skipped a beat. Yes, we couldn't let this witch burn my money.

I retrieved the Soul Vessel and shouted loudly: "Stop it, monster! I'll handle this!"

Yusra smiled and stepped back. Strange, although she was wearing a veil, I could always sense her expression. Was it because of her high intuition?

But, did this girl have some kind of mental disorder? Suddenly cold, then smiling again, which was really which?

The monster in front of me was a "herbivore", "soil-eater", or "corpse-eater", ranging from level 20 to 40. In front of Yusra, I didn't want to show any weakness. With various auxiliary spells, swords, spears, arrows, staffs, earth fire, water wind... Plus the new skills I learned in the library, I used all of the dozen combat skills. Of course, I also included the intermediate third-level "Chain Spell".

After a round, I killed hundreds of monsters, my hands were so tired and my spirit was depleted. I quickly secretly took a few pills.

However, I couldn't let Yusra see me so exhausted. After persisting for a while, I finally retreated.

Yusra blinked her eyes at me: "You're quite good."

I chuckled: "Of course... cough cough." I couldn't catch my breath.

Yusra smiled lightly: "You're catching up to my level of 29."

Wow, there's such an arrogant woman!

Yusra snorted: "Don't you believe it? I'll show you."

I hurriedly grabbed her: "I believe it, I believe it. Please, don't use big magic spells."

If she were to perform a show, how much of my materials would be lost!

I was about to rush up to cut the monster's corpses, but then I saw a group of corpse-eaters had already swallowed all their companions' corpses. I was stunned.

Yusra pushed me: "This scared you, haven't you seen the treasure-eater before?"

I was stunned: "What is that?"

Yusra said: "The treasure-eater is the strongest monster in this area. They eat equipment. The other day, I caught a silver-level sword here, and immediately a group of treasure-eaters came to snatch it, and they ate it all up in an instant."

I'm sorry, I didn't see the equipment of the deceased masters before, it turns out they were swallowed by those guys!

Yusra said: "This area was the outskirts of the former Ghost City. There's nothing special here. Let's keep going."

Passing through the area of these monsters, some stone slabs began to appear on the ground. We reached the city edge.

A cold wind blew, and there were many ghostly shadows in the air. This time, it was truly a ghost.

Yusra seemed to have seen this scene before, with no fear at all. She took out a bunch of materials from her bag: "For this round, your tricks didn't work. Watch mine."

I chuckled twice: "Grick巫, who said my tricks were useless? Watch mine - the Destroying Heaven and Earth, Crying and Howling Spirit Summoning Spell!"

I raised the Soul Vessel and activated the "Soul Absorption Spell"!
