Chapter 7
The Path of the Cosmos
Along a heavenly path, adorned with its distant stars, scattered planets, and glittering galaxies,
a human body, drenched in blood, surged forward—cutting its way through this enchanting cosmos without the slightest hesitation.
"I've done what I wanted… and there's nothing left in this filthy world to hold me anymore…"
Einver sighed silently, lifting his eyes toward the sky, studded with pure and immaculate stars.
Stars that, if any human were to gaze upon them now… peace would flood their heart and soul, and they would declare to live in serenity from this moment onward.
But… Einver was uninterested in anything.
Not the path of the cosmos… not the heavens… not the stars…
Not even the shadow he had taken from his previous world.
That heart, which had endured countless horrors… had finally shattered with the death of his last anchor…
his mother.
"I lost everything… and owned nothing…
I achieved my goal… reached the summit of the world… and became strong, just as Father dreamed…
But… Mother's dream… I can no longer fulfill it…
I'm sorry… truly sorry…"
And although his heart had become calm—calm as the purest blue sea—
when he remembered his mother, it trembled slightly,
as though that purity tried to resurface… only to be suppressed beneath an overwhelming flood of darkness.
"I know I promised you, Mother… that I would never use my strength to oppress anyone…
or to kill the innocent…
But I broke that promise…
when the world shattered my heart…
Does my life mean nothing but battle and destruction?
Will I never find peace…?"
Einver opened his eyes, glaring at the stars with fury.
"Will I never find peace… HAAAA!?"
He screamed—a thunderous cry, filled with rage and pain beyond belief.
"I lost my father…
I lost my mother…
I lost my sister…
I lost Arthur…
Aram… Astaroth… Michael…
Void…
Eli…
Akings…
I lost so many… so many people…
And you want even more?
… I… surrender."
With that agonizing cry, Einver's body trembled, and then he closed his eyes once more,
surrendering to reality… longing for death.
But in that moment…
angry voices rose near his head:
"Wretched bastard!"
"Mad, vile murderer!"
"Why did you kill me, you scum!?"
"What did I ever do to you…!?"
The voices kept screaming, while the spirits of those unjustly slain gathered around Einver's head, demanding his execution.
"You've crossed the bounds of humanity, boy… and now you must choose…
Will you die here… or shall I grant you another chance at life?"
A gentle, serene voice flowed from among the stars…
A voice Einver recognized at once—it was the shadow he had spoken with before, in his world.
"Death!! Death!! Death!! Death!!"
Before Einver could respond, the voices of the spirits roared, already having chosen his fate without mercy.
And despite the deafening cries and terrifying hatred surrounding him… Einver exhaled quietly.
"… Who are you, truly?"
*"That matters not…
I bear many names…
The Keeper of the Great Library…
The Last Reader…
The Lord of Darkness…
The Heavenly King…
But none of that is of consequence now…
Before you lie two paths, boy:
Either you choose death, here and now…
Or life, where I shall send you to another world.
For your world… can no longer contain you."*
The shadow's voice was clear, though it bore no physical form.
In the cosmic path, Einver was utterly alone… with only the cries of the spirits… and the voice of the shadow.
"… I don't know who you are…
But… why do you wish to help me?
I am dark… evil… a deranged murderer…
I'm broken… my story has already ended…
There are hundreds who dream of such a chance…
So why me, of all people?
I… don't want to fight anymore."
"You don't know your fate, boy…
Where should I begin…
Though human, you have surpassed humanity itself, transcended every limit…
Your strength is immense, your speed beyond…
Everything about you defies human imagination…
And that is—only physically. What lies hidden is far greater.
Now…
Choose."
The shadow fell silent.
And at the end of its words… Einver smiled faintly, as he listened to the wailing of spirits still demanding his death.
"… I want to—"
"Life."
"Life."
