Chapter 36 - Chapter 36: Tavern Confrontation

After leaving the locker room, Jason Luo intended to greet Dr. Miao first. Mr. Miao had been a great benefactor to him, and since he had come all this way to show support, it would be unthinkable not to thank him personally.

But after only a few steps, his path was blocked by a group of people.

Looking up, cold sweat broke out on Jason Luo's forehead. Leading the group was none other than that wealthy woman again. In her forties, she wore an extravagant black velvet dress, with a slit that ran nearly to the top...

"Oh! Handsome young boxer, it seems fate keeps bringing us together. And have you noticed? Every time I'm here, it happens to coincide with one of your victories."

"Hehe, since fate keeps bringing us together, I'll repeat myself: join my company. If you truly love boxing, I can give you the best training conditions and pay. Helping ambitious young dreamers is what I love most..."

Jason Luo's good mood vanished instantly. Was this woman seriously obsessed with him? He hadn't done anything to invite this!

Other people with systems ended up meeting gorgeous women. Why did he have to run into a wealthy auntie instead?

Feeling cornered, Jason Luo glanced around. Kamman and Tony Huo, who should have been nearby, had slipped into the back. Kamman was whispering something to Tony Huo with great amusement, while Pedro and Raul had gone over to chat with Sonny, only casting an occasional glance his way.

Looks like I'll have to deal with this myself. Jason Luo braced himself and said, "Madam, thank you again for your kindness. But I've already signed with Mr. Raul, and so far our cooperation has been very pleasant. So I'm afraid I can only decline your generous offer."

The woman didn't seem to mind. With a light laugh, she said, "Don't keep calling me Madam. My name is Rebella. Why so tense? I don't mean you any harm. Since you're already signed, I won't press you. But we can at least be friends, can't we?"

As she spoke, she extended her right hand, holding it out expectantly...

Jason Luo was growing impatient. This woman was far too persistent. If he shook her hand in front of everyone, wouldn't it look like he had agreed to something?

"Uh, Ms. Rebella, pure friendship is something everyone admires. But right now, I'm just a poor kid scraping by as a sparring partner. I'm not on the same level as your world of high society. If one day I achieve something in boxing, maybe then I'll be worthy of building a real friendship with you."

Rebella slowly withdrew her hand, but her face turned cold. "You dare offend me? Do you really think you're some kind of boxing prodigy? Winning a couple of low-level fights by sheer luck, and now you dream of greatness? Hmph! Hearing such arrogance from a nobody like you is laughable! Fine then—I'll show you your true place."

She waved her hand, and a tall, muscular fighter stepped up beside her.

"Kid, you say boxing is your dream? Well, here's your chance. Morudok was already preparing for the Golden Gloves Tournament, but changing plans for you is no problem. Do you dare accept his challenge?"

Huh? That escalated quickly. As Jason Luo stared at the fierce-looking boxer, his thoughts drifted in another direction.

Seriously? Is this woman's entourage nothing but musclebound brutes?

They say women in their forties are insatiable, but even she couldn't handle this many bulls...

His silence made Rebella think he was afraid. With a mocking tone, she said, "What's wrong, don't dare to fight? At least you know your limits. Morudok didn't earn the nickname Bone-Shatterer for nothing. He's undefeated—eleven wins, nine by knockout. You're not even in the same league."

"..." Jason Luo, lost in thought, still gave no response.

Morudok frowned. "Kid, are you accepting the challenge or not?" he demanded, giving Jason Luo a shove.

The shove jolted Jason Luo awake, but his body was still primed for combat after the match. By reflex, he lashed out with a punch. The strike came so fast that Morudok couldn't react. Jason Luo's bare fist slammed into his face. Even with his toughness, the blow was heavy enough to stagger him.

Enraged, Morudok spun back, ready to retaliate. Seeing things about to spiral out of control, Rebella panicked and pulled him back. At the same time, Kamman, Tony Huo, and the others rushed in to shield Jason Luo.

The tavern erupted in chaos. Rebella shouted at Jason Luo, accusing him of striking too viciously, while Jason Luo insisted it was Morudok who had pushed him first.

The shouting grew louder and sharper, threatening to erupt into an all-out brawl. Raul hurried over to intervene.

"Madam, I'm his agent. What exactly just happened? This is a public place. If violence breaks out, I think none of us will like the consequences!"
