Chapter 14 - A Model of Composure

The two smoldering halves of the demon refused to die. Instead of crumbling into harmless embers, they throbbed with a sickening, rhythmic light—two diseased hearts beating a chaotic, opposing rhythm. The searing heat that had begun to fade from the battlefield did not simply vanish; it reversed course, sucking back into the remains as if drawing a final, vengeful breath.

A low, grating hum vibrated through the very ground, a sound far deeper and more resonant than the demon's initial roar. It was the sound of reality itself straining

Then, a deafening CRRRUNCH of grinding stone and bone.

The halves convulsed, dragged together by some unseen tide, and slammed into each other. Molten rock and blackened flesh twisted and fused, knitting into a new, larger, and more horrifying body.

The demon reconstituted — a larger, wobbling body rippling with raw, unstable power that made the air shimmer.

A deep fissure yawned open on its chest, a glowing chasm that revealed not a heart, but a swirling, malevolent vortex of absolute darkness—a core of pure, chaotic energy. This was the coherence field(CCF), the source of its terrifying power.

Sindhu, who had just begun to sob with relief, choked on his tears. His eyes widened in dawning comprehension of a cosmic horror. ]

His voice was a strangled whisper of disbelief, "N-no... it can't be... A Coherence Field? Here?" His mind recoiled at the implication. This wasn't a beast to be slain; it was a localized singularity, a point where reality's rules were being rewritten. He can feel the chaotic energy that fed the demon's core.

Vayu, in contrast, did not flinch. He felt, more than saw, the old scar along his forearm prickle — the same half-healed sigil carved by a master who taught him how to survive a mind that redraws law. He tightened his grip on the hilt as if answering a remembered lesson.

The monster slammed its colossal fists into the earth—not an attack, but a declaration of his domain.

The effect was instantaneous.

A wave of distorting energy exploded from the CCF core in its chest. The world warped. The lush, green forest around them—the vibrant leaves, the soft soil—melted away like a forgotten dream.

In its place, a nightmarish arena of jagged, black obsidian and rivers of bubbling magma erupted into existence. The air grew thick and heavy, each breath tasting of sulphur and scorched ash. Gravity itself felt heavier, making every movement a conscious effort of will.

The natural laws of the forest were erased. This was the demon's dimension now. The final battle had just begun on its terms.

Vayu rolled his shoulders, calm as ever.

And as for our hero Sindhu? He was ready too—so very ready. His battle cry, torn from the very depths of his soul, was a single and resounding: "Helppppp!"

Certainly...A model of legendary composure.
