Catherine is driving, trying to decide out what her next move should be. She decides to follow Isabelle.
Driving away from the Scott mansion, Catherine's mind raced. She had confronted Isabelle, but the woman had denied everything, her eyes steely and frigid. Was she speaking the truth? Or was she a brilliant liar, capable of masking her crime beneath a veneer of innocence?
Lois believed Isabelle was responsible for her mother's death. But Lois was a youngster, her judgment distorted by loss and rage. Could she trust her?
And what about Liam? Was he actually innocent, a bereaved widower trapped in a web of lies? Or was he a brilliant manipulator, hiding a dark truth behind his attractive face and beguiling smile?
She had to find out the truth. She had to know who she could trust, and who she needed to fear.
She decided to follow Isabelle. If she was implicated in Elizabeth's death, she would bring Catherine to the answers she wanted.
Catherine tails Isabelle, watching her meeting with a dubious character in a private spot. She overhears a piece of their talk.
Catherine followed Isabelle's automobile, maintaining a safe distance. She tailed her through the downtown streets, her heart beating with eagerness. Where was she going? What was she planning?
Isabelle drove to a seedy part of town, a location filled with decrepit buildings and scary characters. She pulled into a deserted parking lot and parked her car.
Catherine stopped a block away, watching as Isabelle got out of her car and walked towards a rundown building. She disappeared inside.
Catherine waited, her nerves on edge. What was Isabelle doing in there? Who was she meeting?
After what felt like a lifetime, Isabelle came from the building, accompanied by a man in a dark suit. The man was tall and powerful, with a shaved head and a frightening stare. He looked like a bodyguard or a hitman.
Catherine strained to listen while they chatted, but she could only catch pieces of their speech.
"…make sure it's done right this time…" Isabelle murmured, her voice low and urgent. "…no loose ends…"
The man nodded, his countenance gloomy. "It will be taken care of," he said. "You have my word."
Isabelle handed him a hefty envelope. "This is the rest," she said. "Consider it a bonus."
The man took the letter and slid it inside his pocket. "Pleasure doing business with you," he said.
Isabelle turned and walked back to her car, her face pale and scared. The man watched her go, then disappeared back into the building.
Catherine's mind whirled. Isabelle was paying someone to do something. Something harmful. Something that involved "no loose ends." Was she planning to hurt her? Was she planning to kill Liam? Or was she engaged with finding the locked box?
She had to warn him.
Catherine runs back to the Scott mansion to warn Liam, but finds him with Isabelle. They appear to be reconciling.
Catherine sped back to the Scott mansion, her heart thumping in her chest. She had to warn Liam about Isabelle, about the shady man, about the possible threat that was waiting.
She arrived at the mansion, bursting through the front entrance and storming inside. She found Liam in the living room, talking to Isabelle.
They were standing close together, their words low and personal. Liam was smiling, his eyes brimming with warmth. They seemed like they were reconciling.
Catherine stopped in her tracks, her heart sinking. She had been too late. Isabelle had already gotten to him.
Liam looked up as Catherine entered, his mood turning from warmth to displeasure. "What do you want, Lena?" he questioned, his voice sharp.
"I need to talk to you," Catherine began, her voice anxious. "It's important."
"We're in the middle of something," Liam remarked, staring at Isabelle. "Can it wait?"
"No, it can't," Catherine responded, her voice rising. "It's about Isabelle. She's dangerous. She's-"
"That's enough!" Liam interrupted, his face deepening. "I don't want to hear another word against Isabelle. She's been a fantastic friend to me, and I trust her entirely."
Catherine glanced at Liam, her heart breaking. He was blind. He couldn't see the danger that was right in front of him.
"I just wanted to tell you that the police have the wrong person," Catherine remarked. "It was actually Isabelle, I saw her talk to a hitman today.
"You're crazy," Isabelle remarked, scoffing at the comment.
"I can't believe what she is trying to do," Liam observed.
Catherine looked in amazement and stormed away.
Feeling deceived and alone, Catherine seeks solace from Lois. She confesses her suspicions regarding Isabelle.
Feeling betrayed and alone, Catherine sought solace from Lois. She knew she could trust her. She was the only one who realized what was actually going on.
She found her in the library, reading a book. She looked up as Catherine approached, her expression troubled.
"What's wrong?" Lois asked, her voice calm. "You look terrible."
Catherine sighed. "I tried to warn Liam about Isabelle," she said. "But he wouldn't listen to me. He's entirely under her spell."
Lois frowned. "I told you she was dangerous," she said. "I told you she was the one who killed my mom."
Catherine nodded, tears welling up in her eyes. "I know," she said. "I just didn't want to believe it. I wanted to think that Liam was innocent, that he was just a victim."
"He is a victim," Lois replied, her voice firm. "But he's too blind to see it. We have to do something, Catherine. We have to stop Isabelle before she hurts him again."
"But what can we do?" Catherine asked, her voice desperate. "Liam won't listen to us. He's entirely under her influence."
"We'll find a way," Lois responded, her eyes blazing with resolve. "We have to."
Catherine and Lois team up to uncover evidence against Isabelle, deciding to investigate her office while she's abroad.
Catherine and Lois put their brains together, trying to come up with a plan to expose Isabelle. They realized they had to unearth proof of her involvement in Elizabeth's death and her present activities. But how?
"We need to find something concrete," Catherine remarked. "Something that will convince Liam that Isabelle is dangerous."
"What about her office?" Lois proposed. "Maybe she has something hiding there. A letter, a document, something that will establish she's guilty."
Catherine hesitated. "That's risky," she said. "If we get caught, we'll be in serious trouble."
"But we have to try," Lois remarked, her voice begging. "It's the only way to save my dad."
Catherine sighed. She knew Lois was correct. They had to take the chance.
They planned to investigate Isabelle's office while she was out, hoping to uncover something, anything, that would show her true nature.
As Catherine and Lois prepared to examine Isabelle's office, they had no idea what they would find. Did Isabelle had any traps set up for them?
