Chapter 10 - Road Far! How Are You Different From Cao Thief?

The Confrontation

Lu Yuan staggered over, wine jar swinging from his hand, eyes half-lidded with drunken haze.

At the counter, Dai Mubai looked up from the four scantily-dressed women dangling from his arms. His lips curled into a sneer, ready to scold the new arrival—until he caught the name whispered behind him.

Lu Yuan.

The name thundered like a hammer in his skull. The same Lu Yuan who had toyed with Davis and Zhu Zhuyun like rag dolls in Star Luo Arena?

The curses on his tongue instantly swallowed themselves.

A drunkard didn't matter. But a drunkard who was Lu Yuan? That was different.

He forced a smile. "Brother Lu Yuan. I'm Dai Mubai."

Lu Yuan hiccupped, narrowing his eyes. "Dai Mubai… That sounds familiar…"

He tilted his head, then smacked his thigh with sudden recognition. "Ah—I remember! You're that bastard!"

Mubai's jaw stiffened. He knows me? But… why as a bastard?

Before he could answer, a cold voice cut through the room like ice.

"You are a bastard."

Zhu Zhuqing's voice.

Zhu Zhuqing Appears

"Zhuqing?!" Dai Mubai froze, blood draining from his face. His fiancée, right here, watching him wrapped in the arms of four floozies.

Panic shot through him. "Zhuqing, listen to me! I—I'm here because… because I was… playing landlord!"

Even he didn't believe such a stupid excuse.

"Then keep playing your 'landlord,'" Zhu Zhuqing said coldly, turning away.

Lu Yuan yanked her closer, wine smile broad. "Kitty, come drink with me instead."

Dai Mubai's pupils shrank, face twisting. Kitty? He'd never dared call her that himself. How dare this stranger, this drunkard—this Lu Yuan—claim her so casually?

"Stop!" Mubai's teeth clenched. His eyes reddened. "Lu Yuan! You owe me an explanation today!"

Across the hall, whispers spread.

"Does this fool not know who he's provoking?"

"Who gave him the courage?"

"Davis and Zhu Zhuyun nearly died against Lu Yuan, and this guy thinks he can fight him?"

Fiancées and Betrayals

Lu Yuan tilted his head lazily. "Bastard, what exactly are you asking me for?"

Mubai's jaw shook—his guts screamed to back down, but his pride burned hotter. This was about his fiancée. About Zhu Zhuqing. He had abandoned her once in Star Luo, fled to Tiandou for his own safety. Now she showed up again, but at Lu Yuan's side.

"Zhuqing is my fiancée! She cannot go with you!"

Her gaze turned sharper, colder.

"I was never yours. Not from the moment you abandoned me to flee Tiandou alone."

Her words were knives. Bitter truth. Dai Mubai's heart seized, but before he could beg, Lu Yuan waved his wine jar arrogantly.

"Wine and song—life's finest geometry!"

He recited drunken words no one understood. The Huangdou team behind him didn't even blink; they were long used to his nonsense.

But Dai Mubai heard only mockery.

His rage burst. Seeing Lu Yuan leaning lazily onto Zhu Zhuqing's shoulder—seeing her quietly accept it—his vision went red.

Mubai's Madness

"White Tiger, possess!" Mubai roared.

Spirit rings flared around him, his muscles bulging, fur and fangs manifesting as golden-white light swirled. The White Tiger Barrier and White Tiger Vajra body ignited his aura.

"White Tiger Light Wave!"

From his mouth, a searing beam of energy blasted straight toward Lu Yuan.

The Huangdou team scattered instantly, retreating meters back. Yu Tianheng groaned, covering his eyes. "This sand sculpture actually provoked him… He's dead."

Qin Ming paled. "Lu Yuan, control yourself—don't kill him!"

"Run, tiger boy! Run before it's too late!" Oslo muttered.

Lu Yuan's Strike

The white wave of light tore across the hall.

But Lu Yuan only frowned, twisting to shield his wine jar.

"Bastard. You dare aim at my wine?!"

Wine was sacred. His lifeblood. Touching his liquor was like touching his women.

With one hand, he brushed the beam aside, black Sword Qi unraveling it like rippling paper. His drunken body tilted—then surged.

In a blink, Dai Mubai's body was hoisted high into the air.

BOOM!

He came crashing down against the ground, the air wheezing painfully from his lungs, bones nearly snapping.

"Urk—" He coughed blood, internal organs twisting inside.

Then Lu Yuan's foot landed in his abdomen.

CRACK!

Mubai's body whipped across the room and out the doors of the Rose Hotel, tumbling onto the street like a ragged corpse.

The Aftershock

The lobby fell silent. Heads turned. Nobody dared breathe.

Yu Tianheng slowly stepped out, tremors visible in his jaw. "Captain, what do we do?"

"…Go buy a jar of wine." His voice was grim. "If not for wine, none of us stand a chance near him."

Instantly, the others chimed in.

"I'll go too!"

"Me as well!"

"…Bring one altar back for me too," Qin Ming muttered bitterly.

Everyone stared at him blankly.

Lu Yuan's Carefree Words

"Tons… tons…"

Lu Yuan collapsed lazily onto a sofa, pulling Zhu Zhuqing against him. His free arm stretched wide, Ye Lingling and Dugu Yan leaning on either side without resistance.

"Kitty," he chuckled, "don't be sad. What's good about that kind of scumbag? Look at me—I've got Yanyan and Lingling here, and I admit it openly. That's the difference. A man should be honest."

Zhu Zhuqing's lips pressed tight.

Yu Tianheng, gritting his teeth from the corner, nearly choked. Admit it openly?! And this is different from Cao thief how?! You've stolen hearts left and right, and you dare call it honesty?

But he dared not speak aloud. Lu Yuan was drunk, and drunk Lu Yuan was terrifying.

A Cold Goodbye

Slowly, Zhu Zhuqing took the wine jar from Lu Yuan's hand. She tilted it.

"Tons… tons…" The liquor slid down her throat. She leaned forward, resting her head briefly against his shoulder.

Her voice was faint, but her words trembled with emotion.

"Lu Yuan… drinking with you is… fun."

She hugged him lightly, then pulled away.

"Goodbye."

She turned and left the Rose Hotel swiftly, almost fleeing.

Lu Yuan blinked after her, raising his jar absentmindedly. "…Hmm? Why'd she leave?"

His brows furrowed. "Girls are so hard to figure out. Don't drink wine, don't tell me straight. Can't read minds…"

Three seconds later, he downed another mouthful.

"I was wrong to even try," he sighed.
