The bodies of goblins were littered around as the clouds blocked out most of the crimson glow of the moon. Only pillars of red light were visible. Hajime slumped over, was seated on a bolder near by. With a tired expression on his face, he noticed that he had gone too far, killing the entire horde of over 100 goblins.
He stood up after a bit of respite and took out a carving knife, ready to cut off the ears of the goblins as proof. He was standing atop a goblin corpse when he noticed something strange. From the corpses, he could see waves of what felt like Mana but far more tainted, leaking out in thin waves. Another status window appeared;

Hajime was excited about receiving a title that evolved his stats. However, he wasn't so sure about devouring goblin souls. The mere thought sickened him. And so he declined. Curious about what his job Class could do he sought council from Lily. Lily knew very little about the Soul Devourer. But had heard of a person with the reaper class before. According to Lily, they could steal the properties of what they assimilated and use them as their own.
Hajime wanted to test out the Devourer skill but, had no monster in mind that wouldn't disgust him. He was about to give up when Lily suggested hunting night crawlers.
[ The world of Arcane, was made by a supreme consciousness known as the Revered One. In his wisdom, he forged all planetary bodies drew the stars of the night sky and from his blood, he made the crimson moon. The Revered One created beings to inhabit his wonderful new world.
Beings of different races with abilities that were almost equal to his own. He sought peace and balance between all things. The races he created were,
The beastmen
The humans
And The Demons.
He looked at his creation and marvelled in it's wonder. However as mankind's understanding of power and authority grew, they desired conquest over alliance. A war between demons and humans began. The beastmen, not wanting to participate, fled and hid. However she one of their brethren were captured. At the wars climax, humanity had claimed victory but at the cost of bloodshed. Irredeemable bloodshed.
The Revered One looked at his creation and how they had destroyed the beautiful world he made. He keep order, he decided to punish both human and demon alike. He took the reminent souls scattered across the world and with his own essence forged mighty weapons. The Divine Soul Arms. These mighty arms were then bistowed to the three children of the Revered One, they are known as the Divine Tribunal. They were to choose worthy wielders who would come to aid the Revered One at all cost to prevent such a tragedy from ever occuring again.
In a distant realm, the dark God Diabolo, wanted nothing but chaos. He took the fallen souls of the dammed and forged dark weapons. The Seven Deadly Sins. And to each of his worshippers in the demonic continent of Nephilim, he gave a single weapon. He saw that there was still the power of death hovering over Arcane and so, he made a deal with The Revered One.
He would take away the dark energy, if he was allowed to do with it as he pleased. The Revered One, fearing the lives of his people, agreed. However, Diabolo did not fully take away the dark energy, he morphed it. Creating a race of beasts known as the Abyssals. One such species of abyssal is the night crawler. A cloak like beast with bright eyes and sharp claws. With each scratch they absorbed their prey's life energy until they drop dead. ]
Hajime knew the story all too well and was not too keen to hunt them despite having a weapon that proved most effective against them. Lily however, was not about to take no for an answer. She hovered in front of him screaming insults at him until he agreed. This made Hajime wonder whether the vow she made was valid. He followed a foot path to a clearing on the edge of a cliff where he saw the night sky. Soon after, a meteor shower occured, marking the once a month awakening of the night crawlers. Diabolo, when he forged then from dark magic made it so that each month they would arise and torment all of creation.
To warn his people, the Revered One marked those days with meteor showers.
Soon after the shower, bushes began rumbling and rustling. Soft and Erie whales could be heard from a long distance. A pair of hollow eyes peared through the trees. When Hajime noticed, he put up his guard. Lily suddenly entered into her petal artifact and lached into Hajime's right hand. The pendant the turned into a flower tattoo with five black sepals and five petals. The petals had only one with a magenta colour. The remaining were blank. Lily explained how her powers operated to Hajime;
" Hey master, listen carefully, my relic has five forms. At your current strength you have unlocked only one. Each form has two basic move and one ultimate blaze. The form you unlock depends on your skill. So I'm not sure still it activates however the other black sepals represent your time limit. If all the sepals vanish, the bond will break and the weapon will vanish, understood?" Hajime knodded in agreement and she continued,
" To initiate my power you must mention my true name. My true name is the Scarlet Blossom. Once you do command it to bloom to initiate the weapon summoning." With the rules explained, Hajime got ready to fight the night crawler. He stretched out his right hand and recited the incantation. A sudden wind blew and magic gathered in his palms. A portal opened at his finger tips and from it a blade immerged.
" The petal Scattering blade" was it's name. Hajime took hold of it and stood ready to destroy his potential foe. As if on cue the night crawler rushed in and closed the distance. However, Hajime's senses were now heightened by the bond. He lept over it dealing a nasty slash that tore it in half. The dark energy seeped into the blade and a system notification appeared.
[The Scarlet Floriene divine soul arms has aided in the administrator's soul assimilation. Soul Devourer has officially activated. New skill acquired.]
Hajime was now excited, ready to face every life threatening situation with new found strength. Another Night crawler appeared from bushes but it wasn't alone. However, with his new found power, he was confident in his strength. He made quick work of them and advanced his level.

Hajime couldn't believe how far he had come in just a few hours. He decided to head back, when a shock wave tore the cliff and he plunged into the forest below. On his way down, he managed to hold on to a few branches of trees and landed somewhat smoothly. He was about climb back, when a loud hissing sound caught his attention. He turned around, hands in pockets and looked up at the towering opponent before him. It was a hybrid abyssal. A beast of dark energy bonded to a living creature to create a virtually unstoppable monstrosity.
Hajime smiled and said,
" you're big, very big. I'm going to have fun with you".
At that moment death had thrown the challenge gauntlet, and Hajime had accepted the challenge. His dance with death was far from over.
