Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: Kasumigaoka Utaha’s Resentment

Chapter 17: Kasumigaoka Utaha's Resentment

To be honest, Sawagoe Itaru was an even greater scumbag than Itou Makoto. If Makoto was the crown prince of degeneracy, then Sawagoe was the founding emperor. He popped up everywhere in the Days series, spreading his filth across generations.

Put it this way: Itou Makoto's situation was like Duan Yu's—nine out of ten girls he ran into turned out to be his relatives. The only difference? Duan Yu hesitated. Makoto didn't.

(A/N)= {Duan Yu is Duan Yu is a character from the Chinese wuxia novel Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils.He repeatedly falls in love with beautiful girls, only to later discover many of them are actually his relatives (half-sisters, cousins, etc.)}.

And Sawagoe Itaru?

Heh. Let's just say Prince Duan never touched his own daughter.

Renji Miyauchi shook his head as he wrote. At least Makoto had a few so-called "pure love endings" among his hundreds of branching routes. But Sawagoe Itaru? Hopeless. Rotten to the core. The kind of scum that needed to be erased early, before he poisoned anyone else.

"If I get the chance, I'd happily take care of him myself. It's not like I can't hide anymore."

A slow ripple of energy answered him. Beside Renji, a mass of gelatinous substance rose up—his newest prize.

"Yellow Temperance," Renji muttered with a grin.

The Stand wriggled like melted wax, reshaping itself on command. With it, he could change his voice, his face, even his build. An organic disguise, stronger and more stable than anything Kaito Kid could whip up. Perfect for slipping into the chaos he only used to observe from a distance.

"Not bad," Renji said, tugging on its surface, testing its elasticity. "Not Rimuru-level, but you'll do."

Defense? It could tank Star Platinum's punches. Enough to shrug off bullets.

Attack? A bit pitiful. The devouring was slow, like chewing gum that refused to break down. Still, with growth, who knew? For now, it was his ultimate cloak.

The next day, Renji stocked up. Notebooks, pens, and a sturdy school bag—essentials for the new semester. But tucked into his shopping basket was a suspicious haul: sugar, fatty meat, bottles of pure alcohol. Fuel for Yellow Temperance.

When he dropped by to deliver supplies to his sister Kouka, she raised a brow at his bags.

"Little brother," she teased, poking his chest, "are you trying out some kind of dark cooking? Because if you are, I'm not taste-testing."

Renji calmly batted her hand away. "Not even close."

But her next words froze him for a beat.

"Oh, speaking of cooking… A super~ pretty blonde girl moved in next door yesterday. She's not from Toyosaki, but hey, rare chance, right? Want me to help set you up?"

Renji's mind spun. Blonde? Alone? Please don't tell me it's Gabriel the angel. That'd be way too much for Chapter 1.

"Name," he said flatly.

"Shiina Mayuzumi," Kouka replied.

Renji exhaled in relief. Not an angel—just a novelist, cousin of Mashiro Shiina if he remembered right. Normal enough. Maybe she even had a diary, but that was tomorrow's problem.

"You don't need to worry about my love life," he told Kouka. "Worry about your grades. Toyosaki's lax, sure, but fail too much and they'll still kick you out."

"Ugh, buzzkill," Kouka groaned, shoving him toward the door.

Renji chuckled all the way home, Yellow Temperance jiggling happily in his bag of supplies. That evening, after tests confirmed alcohol was its fastest fuel, he patted its shiny surface. "Guess I'll never get drunk at parties again. Handy."

And then he sat down to write.

[Seeing Katsura Kotonoha's comment reminded me of the night I finished School Days in my last life. I was too young, thought it was just a harmless school romance. By the finale, I sat frozen, my worldview in shambles.

So Kotonoha, listen closely: stay away from Itou Makoto. Stay away from Sawanaga Taisuke. Stay away from Saionji Sekai. And definitely stay far away from Sawagoe Itaru.

Trust me, Sakakino Academy isn't a place to find "friends." You don't need to fit in with your class. You'll find better company elsewhere—girls like you, who are too unique, too sharp, too outstanding for ordinary bonds.

But for context, let me explain those names.

Makoto? A son of Sawagoe.

Taisuke? A grandson.

Sekai? A granddaughter.

None of them know. But Sawagoe Itaru's filth runs through their bloodline. More than fifteen children, some with strangers, some with family. Even his own daughter.

Do I need to spell it out?

Makoto will fall for you because of your daily train rides. Sekai, harboring her own crush on him, will "help" him win you—by kissing him herself. You, with your androphobia, won't be able to meet his desires. Makoto will waver. And everything spirals from there.

There are many endings. Some tragic, some romantic. But the most infamous? You finally win him back before Christmas. Sekai, broken, kills him. Then she tells you she's pregnant. And you… Kotonoha, you do something radical.

There are happy endings, too, in theory. But given Makoto's behavior elsewhere—sleeping with your little sister, who was barely ten—I find them hard to believe.

Taisuke? He's worse in his own way. Always circling, waiting for Makoto to slip, eager to force himself on whoever's left vulnerable.

So I'll say it again: stay away from the Sawagoe family. If they push, fight back. No court in Japan would fault you for self-defense.

Oh, and… I might be in Kanagawa soon for a basketball game. Maybe I'll drop by Sakakino. Hopefully, by then, you won't need to worry about scumbags like them anymore.]

The ripples spread.

Rikka Takanashi slammed her diary shut, her voice shrill: "Even my Evil King's True Eye rejects this filth!"

Yukino Yukinoshita's knuckles whitened on the cover, her face pale but composed. "Men like that… are parasites."

Eru Chitanda hugged her diary to her chest, eyes clouded with worry. "Kotonoha-san… she sounds so kind. How could anyone endure that?"

Kaguya Shinomiya's eyes gleamed coldly. A plan was already forming in her mind. Scum deserved humane disposal.

And Kasumigaoka Utaha—she didn't flinch from the disgust. She didn't pale or rage. Instead, her pen tapped against her notebook, faster and faster, her mind sinking into a darker current.

"So… what did Kotonoha do?" she whispered to herself.

The Mysterious Person had dodged the details. Radical things, he'd said. What did that mean?

Sekai kills Makoto. Lies about a pregnancy. And Kotonoha, a girl raised on Iaijutsu, finds out. What would she do?

Her hand clenched. Her pulse quickened. For one terrifying moment, Utaha wasn't herself—she was Kotonoha, blade flashing, carving open the truth from Sekai's stomach.

She froze. Breath shallow.

The image was so vivid, she nearly saw blood dripping onto her manuscript.

"No," she whispered, slamming her laptop shut.

She wasn't Kotonoha. She wasn't some yandere heroine drowning in crimson.

But her heart pounded, and her fingers shook. And she couldn't deny it—the Mysterious Person's words had dragged her to the edge of obsession, and she had stared into the abyss.
