Chapter 30 - Chapter 30: You're Secretly Cursing Me, Kasumigaoka Utaha!

(A/N)=Recently, I came across a fanfiction that really impressed me. The title is Mafia in Marvel: The Animation Lottery System. The story blends action, creativity, and a fresh take on the Marvel universe in a way that kept me hooked from start to finish.

What I really enjoyed is how unique the concept is—it feels different from the usual fanfictions, and the author's imagination makes the characters and events stand out even more.

I would highly recommend you all to give it a try at least once. Trust me, if you enjoy Marvel, or even just love an engaging and well-written story, this fanfiction is definitely worth your time.

Chapter 30: You're Secretly Cursing Me, Kasumigaoka Utaha!

Now that everyone had cultivated Ripple, if such a situation really arose, they could use Ripple to make the other person enter a deep sleep. Once she had rested enough, she should be able to return to normal.

Although today was the weekend, I, Renji Miyauchi, still took out valuable time to give a lesson, teaching them how to use Ripple to quickly induce sleep. This was far more effective than sleeping pills or melatonin.

It was precisely because of this diary that the girls found their way to a nearby alley, where they discovered the trembling Kage slumped on the ground, and Kaguya Shinomiya, who looked somewhat strange beside her.

After questioning her personal maid, Ai Hayasaka, they confirmed that Kaguya was indeed in her "Little Kaguya" state.

Afterward, they suggested heading to a nearby coffee shop to sit and discuss today's diary.

To avoid problems, most of their communication was now carried out in the group chat.

---

Kasumigaoka Utaha:

"So, that damn Mysterious Person must have been around just now. Otherwise, how would he know that besides us, Kage also came, and how could he so accurately describe Kaguya's current state?"

"Maybe our every move is currently within his sight."

Her words made everyone subconsciously scan their surroundings, but of course, they found nothing.

Umaru Doma:

"Does the Mysterious Person have the ability to be invisible? Is he standing next to us right now?"

"Also, even though everyone is together, why didn't he mention me? Am I really that lacking in presence? I'm a little angry!"

Gokou Ruri (Kuroneko):

"Isn't it good that he didn't mention you? I'm still wondering why the Mysterious Person only started talking and then stopped... And why did he tell me to communicate more about emotional issues with Utaha-sensei?"

Originally indifferent about her future, Kuroneko now felt increasingly unsettled because of the Mysterious Person's words.

Kasumigaoka Utaha:

"...Could it be that he's hinting that in your story, you're actually a loser too?"

Kuroneko:

"Impossible. Absolutely impossible. How could I, the dignified Fallen Saint Black Cat of Chiba, casually sign contracts with others? This is problematic no matter how you think about it!"

Kasumigaoka Utaha:

"Just take it as that scoundrel's bad taste. Anyway, let's set that aside and focus on the main topic."

"No matter where the Mysterious Person is hiding right now, I think we still need to awaken Kaguya's original consciousness. Otherwise, our gathering today will have to end here. What do you all think?"

Kuroneko:

"Wouldn't that be risky? After all, the Shinomiya family's bodyguards are all around, and Ai Hayasaka wouldn't let us lay a hand on Kaguya, right?"

Kasumigaoka Utaha:

"This Miss Hayasaka should be Kaguya's most trusted person. As long as the diary doesn't issue a warning, I think we can give it a try."

The group agreed that they would likely need to act tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Renji reflected on his own writing. As a purely entertaining novel, it was proving difficult. Even with many tricks up his sleeve, expanding them into a story for readers wasn't easy—each chapter took more than two hours, his slowest speed yet.

But he wasn't discouraged. He hadn't even begun the stories he truly wanted to write. Following only a rough outline, he let his imagination run wild, weaving together characters and worlds from across different anime.

More characters would appear later, and the targets of his playful mockery wouldn't be limited to the current cast.

Noragami and Jujutsu Kaisen in particular had provided plenty of fuel for complaints, but for now, he sighed with regret at being unable to include them.

---

Back at the café, Kasumigaoka Utaha attempted to persuade Ai Hayasaka to let them take care of Kaguya. Naturally, Hayasaka refused firmly.

That was expected. If Hayasaka had agreed too easily, Utaha might have suspected she was the Mysterious Person in disguise.

Lowering her demands, Utaha instead probed Hayasaka's understanding of Kaguya's condition. The diary itself could not be revealed, so their conversation revolved around themselves and Ripple Breathing.

Through careful questioning and cautious replies, Utaha learned that in the first few days after receiving the diary, Kaguya had investigated many people mentioned in it—including Utaha herself. But as she began practicing Ripple Breathing, her suspicion faded, and she became much more discreet.

As for Ripple, Hayasaka only had guesses. Their back-and-forth continued until Utaha proposed a massage technique—that could restore Kaguya through deep sleep.

Hayasaka immediately recalled how she had once fallen asleep on Kaguya's bed for an entire night and been reprimanded afterward. She admitted that Kaguya had used the same method on her recently, then asked if she could learn it.

Though Utaha didn't reveal Ripple, the exchange convinced Hayasaka that the others around her lady were indeed extraordinary.

Finally, Hayasaka relented, granting them time with Kaguya—but only within sight. She sat nearby in the coffee shop, back turned, watching quietly.

Utaha then applied the Ripple hypnosis she had just mastered. Within minutes, Kaguya lay sleeping sweetly on her lap, proving once again how practical Ripple could be.

Still, Utaha hesitated. Was it really proper for the young lady of the Shinomiya family to sleep on her lap, resting against her high-cut stockings?

In the end, she called Hayasaka over. The maid carefully shifted Kaguya's head onto her own lap.

That left Utaha free to turn her gaze on another girl—Hitori Gotoh (Bocchi the Rock).

Unfortunately, Bocchi lacked the natural aura of Kato Megumi, and her efforts to hide only made her stand out more. Her social anxiety was painfully obvious.

"Um… we'll just call you 'Little Bocchi' as the Mysterious Person wrote in the diary," Utaha said gently. "You don't mind, do you?"

Bocchi stiffened, then shook her head frantically, signaling she didn't mind. At least that was a reaction.

When asked about suspicious figures in the alley, however, Bocchi's face paled. She trembled, fighting tears.

The Mysterious Person had clearly spotted her hiding earlier, but she hadn't noticed him at all. How could she answer now without looking guilty?

What if they suspected she'd been bribed? Should she… commit seppuku to prove her innocence?!

Her thoughts spiraled. Why had she even come here this morning? This was no place for a gloomy shut-in like her!

Seeing her panic, Utaha quickly soothed her. "It's fine. It doesn't matter if you didn't find anything. I didn't expect the Mysterious Person to appear so easily in front of us anyway."

It seemed no information could be gained from Bocchi. The only hope was for Kaguya to wake up.

Still, Utaha cursed the Mysterious Person under her breath.

---

Meanwhile, the Mysterious Person himself—Renji Miyauchi—sat in a private room at an internet café near Shinjuku Station, less than two kilometers away.

"Hm, Kasumigaoka Utaha cursed me again," Renji chuckled, jotting the tally into his diary.

At the top of his list was Utaha's name, followed by multiple "正" marks—thirteen curses in one day, more than all the others combined. Black Cat and Umaru trailed far behind. Bocchi and Kaguya hadn't cursed him at all.

It was precisely because Kaguya hadn't mentioned him that he speculated she might turn into "Little Kaguya."

Renji's secret was the diary's newest reward: a Name Curse Spell similar to Voldemort's taboo. Anyone who spoke his name or title within range triggered it.

Within 100 kilometers, he could sense direction.

Within 50 kilometers, exact location.

Within 10 kilometers, he could hear their voices.

Within 1 kilometer, he could see them clearly.

Currently, he was close enough to vaguely hear and see Utaha cursing him. And he relished every word.

"You like to say the Mysterious Person is dead, don't you?" he muttered, sipping his soda. "You want to write me as a pathetic villain in your new book? Fine. I've noted it all."

"Why can't you be more like Little Bocchi? She's grateful for the nickname I gave her. You, on the other hand... if you keep this up, I might just write your nickname 'Fat Kasumi' instead."

As he laughed to himself, Bocchi sneezed in the café, shrinking under the group's stares.

"I-I'm sorry! I ruined the conversation!" she stammered.

After a morning together, Bocchi finally managed to speak in front of everyone.
