Chapter 21 - Retests, Responsibilities, and a Little Happiness

Just when Abhiram thought life was finally becoming stable again, another challenge entered his life, Retests.

Because of his absence from college, he had missed some of the examinations. Now those missed tests had to be completed.

The pressure returned.

But this time, Abhiram didn't run away.

He prepared.

He opened his notes, revised the important topics, and slowly started working through the portions he had missed.

One of the retests was Mathematics.

During the examination, Abhiram noticed his friend struggling with a few three-mark problems.

He quietly helped her by showing his answers for those questions.

When she understood the solutions, her expression changed.

She looked at him with an emotional smile, almost as if saying everything without words.

For Abhiram, it was a small moment.

But after everything that had happened between them, that small moment meant something more.

It reminded him that their friendship had survived the misunderstanding.

The two of them had moved forward.

After that, Abhiram continued writing the remaining tests with his other friends.

One by one, the examinations were completed.

But three retests were still pending.

Those examinations had been postponed because of his four-day leave.

So once again, Abhiram had to prepare himself.

The four-day leave wasn't going to be a holiday in the usual sense.

There was a mountain of work waiting for him.

Pending assignments.

Activities.

Projects.

Records.

Notes.

And, of course, studying for the remaining retests.

Abhiram looked at everything he had to finish.

For a moment, it felt overwhelming.

But instead of complaining, he started planning.

He knew that if he wanted his comeback to be genuine, he couldn't keep leaving things unfinished.

So his leave became a combination of studying and completing academic responsibilities.

Every completed assignment felt like one less burden.

Every finished record gave him a little more confidence.

Every chapter he revised brought him closer to the exams.

Still, Abhiram didn't want the entire four days to become only about college.

He had another small plan.

During the weekend, he wanted to meet his friend and visit a food street together.

After weeks of exams, medical issues, misunderstandings, and academic pressure, he wanted to spend some time simply enjoying himself.

Good food.

Good conversation.

Good company.

Nothing complicated.

Just a little happiness.

Abhiram was slowly learning how to balance everything.

Studies mattered.

Responsibilities mattered.

Friendships mattered.

And so did enjoying the small moments of life.

The retests were still waiting.

The assignments were still unfinished.

The projects still needed attention.

But this time, Abhiram wasn't looking at them with fear.

He was looking at them with determination.

Because his comeback wasn't going to happen in one dramatic moment.

It was going to happen through small decisions— one test, one assignment, one friendship, and one day at a time.
