Chapter 49 - Chapter 49: Police Net

I stared at the few pale-faced employees standing close to the bar. It was Monday so the club was closed to the public, almost empty and rid of its usual bustle.

Perhaps it was fortunate. At least this whole search wouldn't cause a scandal. At least not yet.

I ignored Reade and Weller and walked over to our staff. "Who was responsible for stocking supplies?" I looked around and saw a single hand raised.

A young man with curly blonde hair stepped forward. "I checked the entire thing three hours ago. Those packages–" He pointed at the drug now carefully packaged by the cops. "I swear I've never seen that in my entire life. I swear!"

I gave him a curt nod. "Good answer."

Then I turned to Julio. He was on the phone, talking to Andrea, informing him of the situation. Before I could tell him anything, the two detectives walked over, cold smiles stretched across their ugly faces. "Mr Giacomo. Mr Cartelli. You'll have to come with us to the precinct."
