Chapter 72 - Chapter 72: Battle against Cang Hui.

Chapter 72: Battle against Cang Hui.

A day later, Shrek Academy faced its twelfth opponent, Cang Hui Academy.

Shi Yi, sitting in the stands, also noticed that the character who attacked Tang San in the original novel, Nian, hadn't appeared for several days.

"I wonder who this old guy is going to kill? Maybe he was killed by Tang Hao," Shi Yi chuckled inwardly.

Attacking Tang San at this time would be like a long-lived person hanging himself.

Zhao Wuji was also somewhat surprised. "You don't even have to play today, so why are you bothering to watch the match with us old guys?"

Shi Yi chuckled at this. "You've been so popular lately, isn't it safer to stay with you elders?"

Yu Xiaogang nodded. "I'm glad you understand. Even if you're now on the Empire's side, there's no guarantee some won't have ideas about what you have."

Shi Yi smiled and nodded. He wasn't particularly worried about his own safety. Considering the stakes he'd placed on Qian Renxue and her attitude towards him, she wouldn't let him die.

As for Bibi Dong, she might be more wary of Tang San than him. After many days of competition, Tang San's background was now a well-known secret. Shi Yi, however, was an ordinary spirit master with a clean background. Now that he had even had contact with Qian Renxue, he naturally became a target for wooing.

Shi Yi was actually more worried about Tang Hao. Since Tang Hao's appearance, Shi Yi could feel the pressure growing.

Tang Hao's untimely appearance made it difficult for him to control the situation, and the future became unpredictable. All fear stemmed from the unknown.

As for Tang Hao's attitude towards Shi Yi, Shi Yi knew that Tang Hao's behavior in front of him was simply a helpless move. After all, his son was in no position to argue. He didn't want Shi Yi to plot against Tang San at this time. He also knew that his son was no match for Shi Yi, at least not at this time. However, he couldn't kill Shi Yi either. This was why Tang Hao insisted on Shi Yi's condition and tacitly agreed to Shi Yi's acquisition of those unique skills.

Killing Shi Yi would not benefit Tang Hao. Both Tang Hao and the Haotian Sect were targeting the Spirit Hall. From Tang Hao's perspective, Shi Yi currently sided with the sect's spirit masters and noble spirit masters, and naturally would help him complete his revenge plan and restore the sect.

As Shi Yi's mind wandered, the match had already begun.

On the stage, both teams had entered, and the match began with the referee's announcement.

What did the audience enjoy watching the most? As the saying goes, "outsiders watch the excitement." The dazzling display of all the spirit masters unleashing their spirits at the start of the match is undoubtedly the most spectacular. The appearance of each spirit ring, the distinct effects of each spirit, and the dazzling brilliance always captivate the audience.

This is why many spectators are eagerly anticipating Shi Yi's appearance. Besides Shi Yi's match, the Four Elements Academy's ticket sales are the highest, featuring top-notch special effects warriors. The most popular of all is Tianshui, not only a team of special effects warriors, but also a beautiful team. The opening female group dance is a truly impressive spectacle.

Even Shi Yi couldn't resist watching it several times. It's truly impressive. The battles between the academies look more exciting than the action movies of his past life. After all, not everyone is as boring as Shi Yi, who just punches everyone with one punch.

It's the same lineup as yesterday, except that Tang San has been replaced as captain.

The seven members of Canghui Academy seemed cautious. When the referee announced the release of their spirits, they quickly gathered together, their captain standing at the front, forming a strange formation.

Aside from the captain, the other six formed a hexagon, warily watching the seven Shrek Academy members.

Yu Xiaogang couldn't help but frown at this formation. The reason was simple: Shrek's opponents, when facing Tang San, mostly chose widely dispersed positions. Even Tang San's most refined techniques wouldn't have been able to expand his spirit's reach under these circumstances.

"Xiao Yi, can you tell anything?" Yu Xiaogang asked softly, looking at Shi Yi beside him.

"What else could it be? They've prepared their ultimate moves. Teacher, look at their spirits," Shi Yi chuckled.

Yu Xiaogang finally realized what was happening, his face grim as he asked, "Soul Fusion Technique?"

Shi Yi rolled his eyes at Yu Xiaogang and said, "Teacher, what nonsense are you talking about in broad daylight? You have connections like the Dean and the Master's Wife to achieve a three-person soul fusion technique. How can you possibly create seven with this garbage? Soul fusion isn't likely, but the spirit power of similar souls should be able to merge."

"What's the relationship between us?" Liu Erlong's voice slowly reached Shi Yi's ears, sending a chill through his body. Shi Yi shifted his gaze, only to see Liu Erlong staring intently at him.

"Good... good friends," Shi Yi stuttered. Liu Erlong smiled brightly upon hearing this, nodded, and said, "Yes, that's correct."

After this little incident, the Shrek teachers all looked solemnly at the arena.

As soon as Shi Yi finished speaking, everyone could clearly see the seven Canghui Academy members simultaneously raise their right hands.

The Canghui Academy captain slowly raised his right hand, lifting the gem in his palm. His martial spirit, a round silver gem, became the core of his team.

As he lifted his gem, his fourth spirit ring ignited, the only fourth spirit ring on the Canghui Academy team. Following his lead, the other six team members simultaneously raised their own gems, and their third spirit rings illuminated.

Seven rays of light shot up into the sky almost simultaneously. Centered on the Canghui Academy captain's martial spirit, they instantly coalesced into a massive, multicolored pillar of light. The pillar of light pierced the air, reaching a distance of thirty meters before expanding, completely enveloping the seven people forming the formation.

The multicolored light instantly intensified, enveloping the entire arena. The arena was circular, and so was the pillar of light. At that moment, the soaring radiance nearly illuminated the entire competition area. The hazy glow filled a strange atmosphere.

The seven members of the Shrek Academy team were completely enveloped, or rather, consumed.

On the participating college's viewing platform, Flanders and Liu Erlong had already stood up. Liu Erlong was relatively well, but Flanders was anxiously trying to rush out. He even wanted to rush onto the stage.

"Don't worry, Dean, they're fine," Shi Yi chuckled, his eyes tingling purple.

"How did you know?" Flanders quickly looked at Shi Yi.

Shi Yi pointed to his own eyes and chuckled, "Xiao San's eye skills are specialized in breaking illusions."

Flanders and Liu Erlong breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this.

Shi Yi chuckled, "Don't be so anxious just yet. You should focus on explaining to the competition committee. Breaking this illusion created by this immense soul power... I suspect the backlash against the seven opponents will turn them into fools. After all, it's the backlash of their spiritual abilities that causes the illusion."

Flanders' face froze, and he felt a surge of anxiety.

Soon, the multicolored light faded, and everything around them became clear again. The massive, rainbow-colored pillar vanished into thin air.

The Shrek Seven stood unharmed on the stage, while the seven members of the Canghui Academy team had already left their previous positions and stood in different directions on the stage. They too fell to the ground, their bodies convulsing violently, foaming at the mouth, their eyes rolled back.

The tragic scene sent the audience into an uproar, and both the stands and the VIP seats were in chaos.

The Shrek team wasn't as united as in the original novel. Faced with this situation, Tang San didn't even bother to pretend; after all, the other team was out to torture them.

The referee's body trembled as he announced the final result. After being evaluated by several senior spirit master experts, the Canghui Academy team concluded that their spirit skills had backfired.

As they left the stage, the Shrek substitutes subconsciously stepped a little further away from Tang San. Dai Mubai's lips curled slightly as he gazed at Tang San's back, unaware that he, too, was on Tang San's must-kill list.

Soon, the Shrek teachers, accompanied by Shi Yi, went to greet the Shrek group—not just to greet them, but also to protect them.

Upon meeting the Shrek group, Shi Yi noticed Zhu Zhuqing gazing at him intently. Their eyes met, but Zhu Zhuqing quickly averted her gaze.

Shi Yi leaned over to Zhu Zhuqing and whispered, "What's wrong?"

Zhu Zhuqing still didn't look at Shi Yi, but turned away, shaking her head. "Nothing..."

Shi Yi looked at Zhu Zhuqing tentatively and asked, "Did you see anything in the illusion?"

"Nothing," Zhu Zhuqing quickly turned and stared at Shi Yi.

Shi Yi leaned in a little closer, hearing the rapidly beating heart. He narrowed his eyes as he studied Zhu Zhuqing's pretty face, noticing the reddening of her ears and the slow curling of her lips. A faint fragrance slowly entered Shi Yi's nostrils.

"Really?" Shi Yi chuckled.

Zhu Zhuqing blushed and stepped back, trying to calm herself. She rolled her eyes at Shi Yi and said, "Get lost."

Seeing this, Shi Yi stopped joking with Zhu Zhuqing. Zhu Zhuqing hesitantly asked Shi Yi, "Those people should be okay, right?"

"They won't die, but they'll probably be fools for the rest of their lives," Shi Yi said calmly.

"Is that so..."

"After all, they harbored ill intentions towards you. Using such a skill in a competition, and getting counterattacked is only asking for it," Shi Yi consoled softly.

Zhu Zhuqing shook her head slightly and said, "I'm just thinking, if we had all listened to you back in the Star Dou Great Forest, perhaps things would have been different."

Shi Yi nodded and said meaningfully, "Perhaps, it's just that they weren't strong enough. If they were, you might be the ones left standing today. So, no matter what, don't miss the opportunity to become stronger. In life, there are always times when we make the wrong choices, and the outcome depends on how strong we are. If I weren't strong enough, I'm afraid I'd end up like those people from Canghui Academy."

Zhu Zhuqing nodded at this.

Nearby, Tang San's eyes flashed with a sinister glint at Shi Yi's words. Just as Shi Yi had said, he too had made his share of bad choices.

"Shi Yi, let's see who comes out stronger in the end," Tang San thought to himself.

Now, Tang San knew he was no match for Shi Yi. Fortunately, his father was strong enough. With his father by his side, Shi Yi wouldn't dare pass on his unique skills rashly. He was determined to find the perfect opportunity to kill Shi Yi with a single blow.

Soon, news arrived from Canghui Academy that all seven of their participating team members had lost their ability to think and had become idiots. They lodged a solemn protest with the tournament organizing committee, demanding severe punishment for Shrek Academy.

Consequently, a special investigation team was jointly established by the Heaven Dou Empire and the Spirit Hall to investigate both sides.

Returning to their hotel, the Shrek teachers and everyone else held a meeting.

"The tournament organizing committee will soon send an investigation team to our academy to look into today's match. Tang San, have you thought of an explanation for turning your opponents into idiots?" Flender glared at him.

Everyone looked at each other, their gazes finally fixed on Tang San.

Tang San stared at Flender in silence. Honestly, he didn't know what to say, for he knew full well that his opponent's idiocy was due to the mental backlash he unleashed with the Purple Demon Eye.

"What's there to explain? In fact, the experts present have already seen that it's a backlash from the spirit ability. The investigation is just to silence Canghui Academy. They're just saying they don't know. Tiandou won't make things difficult for them. The teachers from the Spirit Hall slapped the Pope's Order in front of them, so what can they say?" Shi Yi yawned.

"You still have the Pope's Order?" a somewhat sour voice sounded, and for a moment Liu Erlong looked at Yu Xiaogang with a strange look.

Yu Xiaogang's face darkened, and he glared at Shi Yi, quickly explaining, "Erlong, this Pope's Order was given to me by Xiaosan's father."

Hearing this, Liu Erlong rolled his eyes at Yu Xiaogang, effectively letting him off the hook.

Flanders' eyes lit up, and he looked at Shi Yi and nodded. "Very good, fine, let's do this. Those who participated earlier will stay, and those who didn't can go back."

Shi Yi then slowly left.

Shortly after leaving the room, Shi Yi heard a familiar voice, "Xiao Yi."

"Master's Wife?" Shi Yi looked at the impetuous Liu Erlong with a puzzled expression. After a moment's thought, a smile of understanding appeared on his face.

"Master's Wife, are you here to gather intelligence from me?" Shi Yi chuckled and joked.

Liu Erlong put his arm around Shi Yi's shoulders with a heroic look and said, "Xiao Yi, tell me honestly, have you seen your teacher see a woman in all these years?"

"It seems that the person you're jealous of is from the Spirit Hall, and even has a high status. No way, how could she be interested in your teacher?" Shi Yi said, pretending to be surprised.

Liu Erlong rolled his eyes at Shi Yi, flicked his head, and said, "Why not? Your teacher was also very handsome when he was young. You haven't told Master's Wife whether that woman has approached Xiaogang yet."

Shi Yi shook his head. "That's not true. If I knew Master had such a strong backer..."

Seeing Liu Erlong's unfriendly expression, Shi Yi chuckled and stopped talking, saying, "Your thighs are also very strong."

Liu Erlong laughed angrily at this, but was still delighted at the answer. A trace of worry flashed in her beautiful eyes. "Shrek's results are good. The finals of this competition will be held in the Spirit Hall. You understand what Master's Wife means, right?"

Shi Yi nodded quickly. "I understand. Don't worry. Unless I'm captured by the Spirit Hall, I won't have another Master's Wife."

"Hey... you brat," Liu Erlong glared at Shi Yi.

"Your life is at stake," Shi Yi said with a smile.

Liu Erlong said angrily, "Alright, get out of here."

Shi Yi smiled and slipped away.
