Chapter 85 - Chapter 85: Why Don’t You Just Rob Me

There were also characters from One Punch Man, Fairy Tail, Bleach. So many that it made Rakuya's eyes blur.

Terrifying.

He lifted his gaze to the Sage of Six Paths. If that old god-tier showed up on a free pull, he could rule the seas by sunset.

The system chimed. "Ding. The higher the tier, the lower the random draw rate. Please temper expectations."

"Yeah, yeah." Rakuya muttered, then snorted. "If the odds are bad, I'll just buy them later."

He opened the price list and got doused with a bucket of ice water.

"Pfft. Fifty thousand points for the Sage of Six Paths? Since when did grandpa get this pricey?"

"Kaguya Ōtsutsuki… eighty thousand? Why don't you just rob me?"

He scrolled through the entire catalog, mood sinking. Even Hyuga Hinata cost a thousand points. Straight daylight robbery.

This draw was free. If he hit a monster, he would win the lottery. If he rolled a dud, he would eat dust. Classic gacha logic. The stronger the unit, the worse the odds.

Luck would decide.

"Alright, Heaven, look my way for once." He closed his eyes and offered a quick prayer.

"Ding. One random summon available. Proceed?"

"Do it."

"Ding. Rolling."

A carousel of faces flickered across his mind's screen. Kaguya. The Sage. Bald Saitama. Uchiha Itachi. Nine Tails. One Tail.

Each time a god-tier slid into view, Rakuya wanted the reel to stop. When a weakling appeared, he prayed it would hurry along.

The spin slowed. The Sage drifted into the center of his vision.

"Come on, stop, stop, stop." Rakuya shouted. The Sage inched past and slid off screen.

"Argh." His heart bled. That was the Sage. Summon him and the world would kneel. Gone.

The wheel clicked to a halt on a lean man with an ash-gray pompadour and pale violet eyes. His forehead protector hung at his throat like Hinata's. A wicked charm glinted at his neck. The ring on his left index finger bore the character for Three.

"Hidan?" Rakuya blinked. He had actually rolled Hidan of Naruto fame, the lunatic with true immortality. Strong, yes, but a notorious motormouth. Simple, blunt, rash. Says whatever pops into his skull.

A pure troublemaker.

He was also fanatical, impulsive, cruel, bloodthirsty, arrogant. Courtesy was not in his vocabulary. His devotion to Jashin bordered on madness.

Hidan's most broken trait was immortality. No matter the wound, he would not die. An insane bug. But immortal did not mean invincible. If your combat power was lacking, you could survive without contributing. Big difference.

Rakuya mentally filed Hidan under Chaos Unit. On the Kaido scale of unkillable, Kaido had an indestructible body. Hidan was literal undeath.

He could already picture the mess Hidan would make. Peak gremlin.

So much for Kaguya. Or at least Madara Six Paths. He would have settled for Tsunade too. Then he wouldn't be lonely at night.

"Damn it. Loss." He shook his head. The system chimed again.

"Character locked. Naruto World, Hidan. Redeem?"

"Redeem."

Better than nothing. A chaos agent was still useful. If the Five Elders really had eaten a Life Fruit and were still alive, sending Hidan to pester them sounded perfect.

"Ding. Redeeming. Success."

A white flash lit the system space. Hidan's corpse-like face appeared.

"Whoa, where is this? How did I get here… who are you?" The instant he arrived, Hidan switched on full chatterbox mode.

"I am your master," Rakuya said, voice level and absolute.

"Master?" Hidan's eyes went clouded for a breath, then cleared. His arrogance folded in an instant. He bowed. "Master. Your orders."

"Here. Put this on."

Rakuya tossed him a black cloak patterned with red clouds. The look was lethal.

Soon he would have his men hunt Devil Fruits for him and cash them for points. He could move into a true behind-the-scenes boss role. That was the dream.

Rule the world awake. Pillow beauties asleep.

Lieutenants spread across the Grand Line. Perfect.

Hidan stripped off his outerwear and slipped into the red-cloud cloak. The aura of blood and steel came down like a curtain.

"Good. I order you to search for Devil Fruits," Rakuya said.

Sending a subordinate would be faster than hunting himself. Also, less face time with that death-mask.

"Devil Fruits? What are those?" Hidan asked, puzzled.

"This is the general shape." Rakuya handed him a sheet sketched with the telltale swirls and lumpy contours. "Anything that looks like this, bring it back. If you cannot get it, take it. If the holder is evil, kill and seize. If they are decent, take the fruit and leave. Do not kill innocents."

Hidan could go off when riled. Best to set rules now.

"Yes, Master."

In front of Rakuya, Hidan was obedient as a lamb. The system's leash was terrifying. Big bad wolf on paper. Fluffy in the hand.

Of course, that docility was for the master alone. To everyone else, Hidan would be the same unhinged, devout menace as ever.
