Jack looked up with reddened ears. "You're somehow the same… but also somewhat different. You're talking a lot now. And you can protect yourself too."

Felix was silent for a moment. He couldn't only protect himself, but he could also kill, if he had to. He was no longer the young boy who used to be bullied. "Did I scare you?"

Jack shook his head. "No matter what, you'll always be my little brother. And I'm the one who didn't protect you."

"There's nothing you could have done."

"No," Jack insisted, looking down. "If I had woken up earlier, I would have been able to find you. And we won't have been separated for so many years."

Felix reached across the table and placed a hand over his. "You were only just a child too. Besides, we were able to meet again because of your efforts. You didn't give up."

Jack gave a short laugh. "I got lucky. I happened to meet the psychologist who handled your case. She gave me your graduation picture."
